As for the subject of Other M, everything about the VA issues is true.

There's alot of videos on it, and I suggest diving deep into it to really get a feel for how much people really disparage the game for the VA (and the reimagined worldbuilding and application of the reworked story and lore), than for the "'S'all right" gameplay.

It was John Walker "Brianna" Wu, the thirsty as fuck GG troon king, alongside some other troon nutjob. They got BTFO'd pretty quickly including by a KIA regular in the Samus Aran talk page on Wikipedia; they even did a drive by posting via IP address cussing everyone out for defying them.

"Newhalf" is specifically used in Japan's gay scene, it's a term meaning "shemale." A male sex worker / barfly that passes as a woman. I've never heard it used to mean intersex, Japan's term for that is futanari I think, or whatever term they use for "birth defect." I guess it could be used to mean "trans" or "hermaphrodite" or whatnot too, but back when Wu tried this Samus crap people looked it up and found some articles talking about the term's history.

It wasn't misunderstanding a joke, it was a concentrated effort to push one of the Tumblr Troons' pet theories in the name of subversion and "representation." Around this time during GG they were actively trying to push cultural retcons specifically in order to subvert and "take over (Gamers / Straight People's) spaces," in the name of "revolutionary queerness." For example, a lot of the wikis out there call Princess Zelda male or "genderqueer" because she cross dresses in one of the games -- and troons forced the change and lose their shit whenever people push back.
