If you still have faith in Kickstarter projects at this point, then there's a nice bridge built by a Nigerian prince that I could sell you.
Cyan has a proven track record already, Obduction was good, it had some issues, but I certainly wouldn't put them down to the game having been funded on Kickstarter.

Man, I donated to Obduction but never actually played it. Worth playing?
It's a really beautiful game, figuring out how to get from place to place in the world is an engaging puzzle in and of itself, figuring out what everything even is, how it works and how you can use it. It's no Myst but it's a good game nonetheless.
My one major gripe with it is how it sets something up as the basis for later puzzles early on but doesn't truly deliver on the concept. Without saying too much, you don't really need to learn well what you're dealing with in order to solve those later puzzles (but it's still a really cool inclusion to the game.)

That's what they said about Tim Schafer, and Cyan has been irrelevant for years. Pretty much everyone involved from the 1990s and early 2000s is gone.
Hey man, Obduction wasn't perfect but it was much better than Broken Age. But you're mostly right about the talent being new iirc.

Riven is probably my favorite adventure game and I don't expect Cyan to ever make anything as good again. Imo the co-director, Richard Vander Wende, doesn't get enough credit for making that game special. Shame he didn't stay with the company, or in game development.

I used to be miffed that Myst seemed to be the way towards success and money, it wasn't a game, now I'm happy that Myst-like games are made.

Just thought I would bump this thread since Firmament is out and available for $20 along with most of the Cyan Worlds catalog in the Enter the Mysterium bundle on Humble Bundle. This deal ends in just under 2 days.

It looks like there were problems with development on Firmament since it was supposed to come out in 2020 and it didn't release until 2023. They also had to use some AI assisted content to finish the game which pissed off some people. I saw multiple comments from long time Cyan Worlds fans saying it is one of their weaker games. Having played through just over half the game I can say I am having fun with it so far even though it has some minor issues.
