I would say 5-10 at most. He's survived quite a bit, but the human body can only take so much punishment before it shuts down for good. I'm guessing he won't live to see 2024 probably, but it's always possible so that's why I said 5-10 more years.

I toss in May of 2044. He's fucked-up enough to require death, but he's dumb enough to escape death. I think his COPD will catch up to him around then.

That might be why he still eats from the trash... the maggots expend less energy eating pre-rotted food. It all makes sense.

Mentioned bumping this in another thread. His next expedition to Kansas might actually be the final blow. Even if it isn’t a catfish, Tom is trying to quickly pawn off all three of his possessions on a whim, leaving him with absolutely nothing if this falls through. Between losing his father, being involuntarily committed, and the most recent failed romance... Not a good look.
