The only tourists that are treated in a way that could even remotely be considered rude are loud, obnoxious assholes that block walkways, invade people's personal space, and take photos of them without their permission. On the reverse side, if you have good manners and learn some super fucking basic Japanse like 'please' and 'thank you', you will get great service everywhere. There is palpable relief on people's faces when they realize you are not one of 'those tourists' like Momo. She is the kind of bad American tourist that makes all the rest look bad.
