More to the point, why are they not making those texts public now? There's no reason to hold them in reserve for discovery if doing so is going to force them to spend money on legal fees when they could avoid doing so. There's no reason to withhold any of the evidence they claim would prove their version of events to be true.

They might actually believe they can create a turnabout like this is Ace Attorney.

What texts is he talking about?

I’m pretty sure Ty would have known by now what texts this idiot is talking about.

Why does he care so fucking much about this?
Judging by what they consider "evidence", I'm guessing it's texts of Vic to his coworkers apologizing if he ever offended them somehow. Vic did say in one of his statements that he had tried to apologize for any offense in private.

I've been super busy the past couple of days but did anything exciting happen in yesterday's stream?
It's worth watching the stream, Nick was on fire. Main things I took are the lawsuit is going to drop Monday after Kamehacon, Iago and Igor are voice actors (I think Nick let that slip by accident), Nick makes sure to have at least 2 good sources for any info he dumps and is pissed at the people calling him a liar, and lawsuits are definitely coming but they obviously take time.

Edit: Oh, and the kickvic VAs have been sending an "incriminating" video of Vic to cons to get them to drop him, but the content is something innocent that they're twisting per usual and Nick is trying to get a copy of it to show, possibly tonight from his tweet.

Man, RaisedByWolves is really scared of Nick

Nick was thoughtful about this line of reasoning last night, implying that these people may have been contacting the cons to get Vic dropped before Funimation had said anything. If true couldn't this dig Funimation in deeper shit then they already are?
Using Funimation connections would definitely be a no-no. If any of the suits up top are actually unaware of this and these are using those connections to pressure cons, they would be very smart to throw every single one of those morons under the bus. If they're in on it, well sucks to be Funimation then.

Exactly why I don't believe them. Dumping the evidence ends this whole thing for them. They have nothing to lose and everything to gain by putting it all out in the open if they're telling the truth.

Are you talking about the responses to the io9 questions? Well, again, Ty would know about them by now.

It is very autistic, though, that Shane would care about this so fucking much, despite have nothing to do with the investigation (supposedly).

It's even more autistic that he even knows a lot of the stuff he's tweeting about.

While lots of people ignore the "don't talk to anyone about this except me" advice they're given by their lawyers (yes, Virginia, that does mean even your family and friends) when legal action is on the table, most of them aren't stupid enough to discuss things with people who are then going to splash it all over social media. And their certainly not stupid enough to continue discussing things with someone who's already done that.

Defamation per se from someone who's not even directly involved in this. While I doubt that anyone's going to sue him directly, questioning him about why he believes that of Vic only further establishes the damage done to Vic's reputation by unsubstantiated claims by others.

As we wait till the Monday after Kamehacon, I'm gonna take the opportunity to talk about what's going on with the American Dragon Ball fandom at the moment in case anyone is interested.

Today, April 5th, is actually Akira Toriyama's birthday. Funimation decided to take the opportunity today to reveal the details of their "30th anniversary set" for DBZ.

https://twitter.com/FUNimation/status/1114203544079310848 http://archive.li/D7M1Z

https://www.funimation.com/dbz30th/?utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=032019-hv-dragonballz-30th http://archive.li/idTNq

People were already not happy with what little details there were prior to this. They were not gonna do the release unless they got 500 reservations. The news revealed they need 3000 reservations to get to printing. I say it makes Funimation look like the bush leagues that they need people to reserve orders before doing a big new release for their biggest property. And it's not a new master or anything.

Funimation has already had a rocky history with the home media release of DBZ. The masters they own are in terrible condition and every release from them has some problem or another. The single 3 eps. per DVD are incomplete but are in the original aspect ratio. The 2007 dvd release has a terrible dnr remastering to it and has cut footage from top to bottom to make it 16:9. There was a blu ray release with a completely new remastering in 4:3 that only had 2 volumes released at which point they just stuck their old 16:9 masters onto blu-ray. The "best' but still with its problems are the Dragon Box release of DBZ which comes from Japan in 2003 at a max resolution of 480p. Not to mention, these releases come out, get cancelled, and start again, all within months of each other.

It's laughable that a release from more than 15 years ago looks better than their fancy new anniversary release that costs 350 bucks up front. Don't just listen to me, look for yourself.

I imagine this new release will be shilled by Funimation cronies in the following weeks and presumably at Kamehacon. Don't fall for it.

Nick has mentioned that Toei has possibly caught wind of all of this. I'm skeptical but Nick has had a good track record to all of this so it's all quite possible. I have not heard much of their involvement with the franchise in America, but that may have changed in recent years. In particular with the mishandling of another one of their important properties, One Piece, by 4kids. Supposedly, once Funimation got the license, Toei and the creator himself, Eichiro Oda, had to approve the main cast and other decisions. When Super got announced, it took a long time for Funimation to announce that they even got the license. If Toei is so much more involved and controlling nowadays, I wouldn't put it past them that they are the reason for its slow localization process.

With the legal fiasco their actors have brought onto them, their awful releases/scheduling, and Toei supposedly keeping an eye on all of this, I think Funimation has found themselves in between a rock and hard place. At least when it comes to Dragon Ball.

TL;DR - I believe that Funimation is at a cross roads at the moment with the Dragon Ball license. If what is going around the grapevine is to be believed, these next few weeks will be very important towards the future of how DB is handled in America. Funimation has screwed up too many times from top to bottom and it might finally come back to bite them in the ass.
dunno if its been said, but that's likely why the japanese VA for vegeta is going. as a trojan for toei.

No, I meant in his twitter statement where he verified the GFM and said he was taking legal action. He said "I had hoped that my apologies and acknowledgments, both public and private, would be received."

I'm guessing it was a text apology and that's what Shane is twisting into Vic admitting to "fucking up" via texts, because to these people an apology is a confession. No doubt Ty has already seen them.

"A Japanese man was arrested after he was found in possession of two cursed ninjato, several dozen exploding shrunken, and smoke bombs. The man was in the country purportedly to attend an anime convention, but was revealed to be a deep cover assassin.

The man's only public statement was "Sabat-san wa mou shindeiru' "
