Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

I came across this post on lolcow yesterday and it has me curious. It mentions other VAs and "a bunch of problematic photographers" being on some sort of con blacklist. This isn't something which has been mentioned by Shane or Ron, but the guy from BubbaFest did suggest that sex pests exist in the industry, even though he didn't mention any unofficial list.

It would be interesting to get hold of that list and see what names are on it, if an anon wants to send it our way.

There was also some DM's from Marzgurl where she discussed who the next target from the list would be after Vic, or something to that effect. It was readily apparent that she and others had a list of "problematic: (by their standards) people that they wished to run this same routine on and drive out of the industry.

...pretty sure people would bring up Momokun because we actually had evidence that Momokun did the things she was accused of doing in the form of videos. We know what she did because there's video evidence of what she did.

And what's with these people conflating "grossness" with assault and molestation and harassment?

How does this unbelievable moron have a job? We have threads on speds on disability for being literal tards who are more functional than this sub-room temperature IQ mental midget.
So bitches like Logical Razors? I have one for them.

Hitchens's razor "What can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence"

In other words If you are going to accuse a man who has worked in the industry for over two decades and is on thousands of thousands of hours of film of being a sexual predator you better have some spectacular fucking evidence. Evidence well beyond the hearsay and personal anecdote bullshit you have given us thusfar.

These fuckers just grind my gears.
I'm actually writing this down in my IRL notebook. Thank you for putting me wise to this!
"Hitchen's Razor."
Nice, I'm taking it with me.

The wiki for Speed Racer says: Adapted into anime by Tatsunoko Productions, its 52 episodes aired on Fuji TV from April 1967 to March 1968. The English rights to Mach GoGoGo were acquired by syndicator Trans-Lux, and Speed Racer premiered on American television in the fall of 1967.

Peter Fernandez and Corrine Orr are national treasures tbh. Its awesome they got to dub the Geico ad in the late 00's. Unfortunately Corrine is (as far as I can tell) the only living cast member left.

Shame on Nick, Orcas are smart beautiful creatures, who work hard for their meals and shouldn't be compared to that thing. The ugly, useless manatee is more her style.

I haven't seen anyone giving a fuck about momokun, other than acknowledging her as a fat cosplay thot. Also tagging @Not A Bug to see if they can give any info / drop hints on this stuff.

I remembered that Ty said the ALOD wanted to crucify La Choy and that other guy for sending an ethics complaint against Nick, a person they barely know. How do you think they feel about him going after their boss, a man they have personally known for a long time? They're going to have fun deposing him.
Manatees don't deserve that sort of comparison. They mind their own buisness and are cute in a sea potato sort of way.

I'd say Ren is more like a blobfish.

AFAIK, there's one list, and that's what I linked. I'm confused why you think there's two.
It's the way the BiC article is written, the other is the professional 'gender equality in animation' study done by the Gender Equity Taskforce. I don't think that's been leaked.

Astro boy was on US TV in 1963.

Wasn't Corrine both Trixie and Spritle at the same time, as well as Nova from Starblazers?

When was Speed Racer dubbed?
Or Gigantor?

Those are ones I don't include because the question was about the industry, and not just a media company localizing one or two anime titles.

When I say "industry," I'm talking about US companies that formed for the express purpose of making anime their main focus. That happened starting in '87-88.

Im curious who's going to have to explain what a Fujoshi is in court.

Edit:

Also on a fun note, the girl who's making all the great manga art has a new one about everyone's least favorite orca:

This is a strangest thing I have ever encountered on the farms. A girl who regularly posts on Twitter yet seems to be emotionally well adjusted and post her own OC art that is high quality.

And judging from the We Will Be In Touch/Fear the Beard and Unfamous art, her meme game is strong, too.

Well, for some anime history, NBC used air Astro Boy, Speed Racer and other Tatsunoko productions, mainly Gatchaman/Battle of the Planets during the 1960s. Gigantor was aired on an older channel around New York City/New England. Those were actually some big hits back then before a cooldown into the 1970s.

USA Anime history definitely stretches as far as the decades post WWII.

Fredrik actually does a great 2 part series on the origins of anime

Wasn't there an anime movie adaptation of Journey to the West released in the United States during the 60's?

It's a sight to behold, isn't it? She's really a talented person, a great soul.

Very much so. She could do this professionally if she isn't already. Someone should point her to Ya Boi Zack. He really needs some talented artists for his projects and she seems perfect for them in temperament, opinion and ability.

Despite our grossly exaggerated reputation of chauvinism, there's actually seven women (not wahman) that I've been really impressed with in all this.

This chick.
Nick's wife.
Ty's eldest daughter.
The Amazons (x3) (I'll just go ahead and presume the third one is fine).
@emspex

Maybe add Supergirl. I dunno.

The human race might not yet be doomed. Maybe.
