Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

Do you guys think Marzgurl is still going to go through the rest her outing list or do you think the first (Vic) has been thoroughly embarassing enough for her to realize this might be a bad idea?

Well, let's analyze that...

She'll probably try, but she doesn't seem to have gotten a lick of traction out of this, and she's probably not happy. She enjoyed some success with CtC, but the exact opposite is happening here.

For Youtube, the spike in this graph is CtC. The slight dip you see after January is the fallout from KickVic. Nobody fucking cares about her Youtube.

Twitter is slightly better (again, the spike is CtC), but we're talking a few hundred new followers, and it's been in the negative since the start of last month, when she really started fucking up.

717859

Here is Nick by comparison (Youtube, followed by Twitter). His Youtube growth for March wasn't as impressive as his stratospheric growth for February (I think we have to give Shane some credit here, as that stream was fucking legendary), but he's still running a very health positive of 13.2 new subs for March.

Conclusion: She's on the fast train to loser-town. She tried to replicate the success of CtC, but has failed. She doesn't have control of the narrative, and has been caught in several lies. Nick will probably have her beat on Twitter by the end of the month. I also predict Nick will qualify for a silver play button by the end of the year.

I mean, seriously, MarzGurl was even a bit of a loser by CA standards. She was literally the third choice for Nostalgia Chick. We laugh at Monica being "fourth Bulma," but I'm sure she gets a somewhat decent paycheck out of it.

Now PULL can go cry because the marketplace of ideas has decided their idea of "social justice" is dumb and toxic.

I was just thinking how damning it is for Monica to keep claiming she didn't do anything to Todd when Todd himself has stayed silent. If she was telling the truth wouldn't Todd have spoken up by now to help clear the situation and acknowledge that he skipped the panel because of his contract? He follows her on twitter and has to be aware of what everyone is saying.

Todd, like Vic, seems to be following the advice of his lawyer. Shutting up and letting them hang themselves seems like a good strategy.

What do you guys think of this? Is this yet more possible site glitches or are they more desperate for money?

It sure is curious that their "glitches" result in people giving them money.

Well, minus Sabat, he's done a lot of good voice work, but unfortuantely he has some hard reaping to do in the long term.
Even Schemmel has more range than what'd you expect from him.
Needless to say, Japanese and English voice acting are worlds apart.
Edit: Don't necessarily take that as a jab against English VAs

There's so much that I've seen before with the way Ron and Shane have been behaving, at it's to do with living in their own truth bubble.

tl;dr: It's a Good vs. Bad situation for them, and their bubble lets them accept only the facts that reinforce their narrative. It all starts with believing one trusted source, and becomes an actual conspiracy with no critical thinking allowed.

To them, people they trust have made accusations, so they of course believe them. Those accusations keep expanding, and now include 20, 25, 30 women - and there were rumours beforehand, and so many women can't be lying look at Bill Cosby and Harvey Weinstein, and their friends/partners wouldn't lie to them, so of course this is all true.

And to deny that, or even question that, is in current day equivalent to going up to a rape victim and slapping them in the face. Because now, after an assault, a victim's response is just how they 'process trauma', from understandable reactions like not wanting to tell anyone due to shame and fear or wanting to immediately shower even though that will destroy evidence, but also including things like continually acting friendly or pursuing a further relationship with the alleged assaulter or stalking and harassing them for a relationship. So not only are you now expected to completely believe any claims of sexual assault, and you're not allowed to ask any questions about the story of how they were assaulted, but even their behaviour afterwards is considered off the table.

So at the point where it's a woman they trust telling them these things, I get it. They may be incredibly naive about the chance they're being lied to, but your fiancee tells you something bad happened, you'd tend to trust them. But where they start going off the rails is where they then immediately treat everyone who doesn't have a good reason to trust the story as Bad People who can be safely ignored, dismissed and mocked. And how they can take evidence that maybe things just didn't happen the way they think it did and it doesn't matter, because they're busy Believing All Women, doing the right thing.

So they never examine whether the behaviour they're ascribing to their opposition could also come from their side. The Bad People will lie, conspire, defame, act out of malice and greed and bad faith, but none of that is coming from their friends and loved ones. And again, while that might be understandable, they also extend that belief to everyone who agrees with them, which in this case includes a large amount of untraceable, unsourced, anonymous internet accounts, which they should have absolutely no reason to accept at face value, except that it says what they want to hear so they do.

And for Bad People, anything is possible. We see with trooncows all the time how if they're 'feeling unsafe' it's the same as someone abusing them, verbally and physically. And the same thing is happening here, where the hugs and kisses on the cheek on consenting women is being interpreted by other women and creepy and unwanted, which is practically the same as assaulting women. Which means he's assaulted women, and if he's done that then he's done it multiple times - look how many fans he has photos with! Some of them must not want the attention! - and if he's hugged a girl, it doesn't matter if she specifically asked for a hug because girls can't consent, which means he's basically assaulted the girl, which means he's a pedophile...

And that's how it works, amplified by social media. So rumours become facts become 'everybody knows', and it's now a truth you can't deny, like that xkcd comic a few pages back about how a random Wikipedia update becomes considered true just because someone with any perceived authority cites it without checking. It's the Ferris Beuller rumour mill, except more serious and none of them have any perspective because questioning any point of the narrative is akin to denying sexual assault has ever occurred. It's also how you get things like them inadvertently ignoring assaults on children, which would be criminal - because examining the narrative is forbidden. You just have to accept it as truth without question, while also not questioning why the most people have done for years about this known sexual predator in their midst is bitch about him behind his back and spread nasty rumours. They argue Vic is too popular and powerful to stand up to, but there must be at some level where they both think he's a terrible abuser but also he's just that bitch eating crackers, where everything about him is annoying but that doesn't mean you can actually do anything about it. And challenging why none of these dozens of women haven't come forward is forbidden, so they just accept it and move on.

But now the actual legal system has entered. And that requires a standard of evidence beyond rumours and exaggerations, and stuff that 'everybody knows' has absolutely no standing. So Shane and Ron, who have started from a position of trusting a couple of women they have (at least in Ron's case) reason to trust, now have a whole outlandish narrative they've accepted as true and anything that denies it has to be fake. Add to that a real lack of knowledge about how the law actually works outside of fiction and a desire to white knight, plus in Shane's case a real need to be seen as important and part of the cool group, and they find themselves spreading the rumours as truth, and doubling down on this whole fragile narrative they've had to accept.

And also, when they finally turned on Vic and got rid of him, as they thought, that was meant to be the end of it. That anything they did to get him out of their lives might have actually been illegal would never have crossed their minds, just like with Mark Waid vs. Richard Meyer. After all, they were doing the right thing! They were getting a Bad Person who had done Bad Things away from them, and would presumably not have to deal with them again! That any of the people they had managed to align themselves with might have anything other than pure motives couldn't be possible, because they were Good People. That any of the accusations might not hold water - well, everyone knows it's true. Everyone! So warning cons, pulling strings at companies, that's all necessary to protect women and get rid of a bad apple.

It's why it's so much of a religion. Because they've developed a principle that must never be questioned, just accepted on faith alone. It is something no-one would abuse or misuse - that's only what Bad People do, and we're Good People. And so what starts off as trusting one person metastasises into unquestionably accepting anonymous claims, attacking anything that challenges your faith, and doing everything within your power to bring down your opponents ... except leave the house, apparently, since doing something like making an official police complaint would involve actually, legitimately, thinking about the crimes committed and the accusations, and maybe, just maybe, realising it might not be as true as you think.

They seem to think that real life is like Twitter, but Twitter isn't real life. And it really feels like that's part of what makes this so exceptional. Because anything that happens online doesn't really count, or reflect your character, and you can say what you want and the repercussions are only meant to hurt the Bad People, not the Good People. They can say what they want and it's fine, but any backlash is horrible, unprecedented harassment that was organised to hurt them. So we see Ron and Shane and a few others constantly calling other people things designed to hurt them and their reputations, to have consequences in their actual life - and that's fine, to them. But if anyone denies it, or threatens legal action? It was only on the internet, it's not that serious, they'd have to be bluffing because who really thinks tweets matter that much?

Basically, the cognitive dissonance starts from one small, reasonable place, and follows a path of zealotry, ignorace and black and white thinking to a point where they have absolutely no perspective on what they're doing or saying:
They are Good so will prevail (even though they'll go on about how Evil is winning constantly and bad things are happening).
They know the accusations are true so they have nothing to worry about (even though Nick and others have been telling them repeatedly that the accusations are mostly moot and they only have internet rumours and likely a couple of women who have been lying to them).
The sexual assaults have been going on for years and so stopping them by getting Vic fired is the best course of action (even though if they really, truly believed Vic was guilty of what they're accusing him of, especially with underage girls, and didn't put a stop to that they are not only morally responsible for abetting a molester, but criminally liable for not doing anything about it).
If only Vic had apologised and let it all happen, lay low for a bit, then things would be OK (even though ruining a career and future income isn't something they are willing to accept for their own actions, that course of action is only beneficial to them but not Vic, and they are being disingenuous at best if they expect that someone like the monster they have made Vic out to be would make it acceptable to have him back at a con without being constantly shamed and sent to Coventry).
It's just ... maybe if you have to keep telling yourself you're a good person on the right side of history and you're only doing the just thing, it's a sign to take a step back and see if there's a chance you might be wrong. Or maybe don't ever trust someone who demands you believe something, unquestioningly, without ever even thinking that evidence against it might have merit.

Just so that I can be more of a dick to them, I will forever call them soyfags, womyn, scunts, dick choppers, genitalia mutilators, whores, and any variety of word ending in fag.

And also provide endless amounts of stating facts just so I can see them try to deal with that.

Don't play mind games, PULL. Some of us really want to take it too far and see if you will crack.

I have other things to point out, like the slant against animation in general and late to mid 20th Century western society on how it has affected sequential art, but I can agree entirely with this. Well, minus Sabat, he's done a lot of good voice work, but unfortuantely he has some hard reaping to do in the long term.

All in all, it never hurts to put in effort. Something which I've seen a lot of people lack in this society. It's pretty much a societal bane at this point.

Another point to make, have any of you ever seen the movie El Topo?

A surprising piece of social commentary made from the 1970s, the second half of the movie deals with a cult like town where all of the ills of real life society are alluded to with a wild west town that worships a lifestyle represented by the Eye of Providence. Essentially they keep slaves, worship God in a Prosperity Gospel light, love tasteless excess for entertainment, and are also eugenicists. The works. It's also free to watch and download off of Archive if you want. https://archive.org/details/ElTopo1970

One part that particularly hit me was a part where all of the nasty looking middle aged married upper class women attend a salon and being alone with a male slave, they all try and eventually succeed in forcing him to make out and gang up to have an orgy with him. Then, when the women had their fun, they accuse the slave of putting himself upon them. Naturally, this results in the slave being shot and tarred and feathered executioner style.

Minus the social criticism, this echoes greatly of thots and attention whores who thrive on egotism with massive inferiority complexes, and use morals to mask their wrongdoings. You know, kind of what's going on with Vic and the KickVics crowd.
Now i actually wanna watch that movie. Seems great. Its rare to see societal commentary in entertainment medium nowadays.

Ok so somebody earlier told me that the FUNi site might be glitchy, told the person I know that was watching the episodes, they sent me this and I went and it seems that they randomly make it so certain episodes are now subscriber only, checked for myself and I do remember all episodes used to be free but now instead of shitting out ads it's turned into you HAVE to sub to them to watch the full series (which it wasn't like this before)

Why is he even using funimation ? Tell your friend to search on google Littleweeb github. Thank me later.

And yet I don't see Ron or Shane being kind. Nor does Monica seem to be trying to rein in her attack dog.

They haven’t come forward yet probably because they didn’t mind it at all, jackass.

Just to point out, DarkSidePhil has a degree in business admin and management too.

It's not exactly a hard degree to get, it seems.

You can’t be serious. Mr. Honksnort has a business admin and management degree despite having issues paying his taxes?

Conclusion: She's on the fast train to loser-town. She tried to replicate the success of CtA, but has failed. She doesn't have control of the narrative, and has been caught in several lies. Nick will probably have her beat on Twitter by the end of the month. I also predict Nick will qualify for a silver play button by the end of the year.

Now PULL can go cry because the marketplace of ideas has decided their idea of "social justice" is dumb and toxic.

I mean too, fuck, she's below Hope Jacob Harry "Assless" Chapman, who despite having fucked and backstabbed her way to the top, was able to get a job and mooch off of some other anime dickhead with connections and money to spare. Even at That Guy With The Glasses, Hope had an even bigger content output and even a constant Twitch stream before 2013 and Noah wanted to fuck her serial killer style and jumped ship to Ass News Network. Marzgurl had nothing but some little dit on The Land Before Time and left Anime News Network by 2013.

LiamLee already took the lion's share of the anime theme english dub song market, and even has a music career outside of that. Kaylyn is majorly incompetent with an inconsistent output, a horrendous singing voice, boring garbage about her being a literal sell out with shitty mail product sample kits, and is engaging in active medical and food experimentation as a live test subject.

For fuck's sake even the attention whores who get pages on ED have more successful lives than her. Even Bennett The Sage, who was as just as banal as Hope and Kaylyn still does his stupid shit on Youtube.

And now this weighs down on her?

You're already fucking dead, Marzgurl!

Long story short, If Monica and party don't behave obnoxious and confident on twitter then what few members of kickvic that are left still supporting them even they will end up leaving. Hence losing the war on social media way before the lawsuit even hits them. They basically have to force themselves to believe in their stories in order for others to idiots to believe it as well. :story:

I like just how passionate the stand with vic side is. We're off making fanart, t-shirts, patches, memes.

What has the kickvic side done? If so many people are on kickvic's side, where's the passion? Where's the strong emotion, the motivation to support your cause? I literally haven't seen even 1 creative thing from the kickvic side.

We're also just sperging on about anime and its history on U.S. soil while making fun of morons in the same breath. I haven't seen the #KickVic people sperging about anything anime that's not surface-level nonsense like teh yaois and REE'ing about depictions of women. Almost like they actually don't like the medium as much as they claim they do. ? (MarzGurl is like the exception to this, perhaps, while Marchi and Rial only view it as a paycheck and the cosplay thots thirsty guys' money.)

Your long ass spergery seems dead on for people like DC Douglas or that gay Jamie idiot or any of the other VA white knights, but I think you're being too generous to Ms Choy and Shane.

I think La Choy is fully aware Monica is lying and is actively participating in the lies, and that Shane suspects she's lying but doesn't care.

What do you guys think of this? Is this yet more possible site glitches or are they more desperate for money?
Im pretty sure its always been that way. You get a certain amount of free episodes in every series (usually 3 to 5) then you have to get a subscription to watch the rest.

Using Funimation connections would definitely be a no-no. If any of the suits up top are actually unaware of this and these are using those connections to pressure cons, they would be very smart to throw every single one of those morons under the bus. If they're in on it, well sucks to be Funimation then.

Even if it is just the underlings at Funi, the legal exposure at Funi is just as bad if not worse. They let their employees behave in a manner that causes them civil liabilities and runs some risk of criminal. They have an obligation to monitor and train their staff to not ever do this.

Walking it back, but still not retracting.

It won't matter. For each tweet it will be slapped down in front of him and he will be asked, or rather demanded to defend it. No lies. Any accusations must be first person or the lawyers will ass rape him.

If Ty even looks at her funny, she won't be able to afford internet for the rest of her life. She had to crowdfund an oil change. Which is, what, $30 at a Walmart? Let that sink in. The act of just defending yourself from a lawsuit is literally $30k lit on fire and flushed down the toilet. And that's if you win. Lord help you if you lose and get liened on so hard it's like an elephant dropped on you.

Even if she's not formally made a defendant, the act of being subpoenaed and yelled at by Carey "I Make Grown Men Cry" Christie is going to give her hives anytime she touches Twitter. Because she knows if she makes the slightest mistake again, someone's getting touched, and it won't be pretty.

Marzgurl is completely screwed here. They have to drag her into it. She created the hashtag, which is the center of a defamation broadcast system, and she did all of this while having no apparent first hand knowledge of any of what any actual accusations against Vic M are. And she will be chewed apart and spit out fast by Ty's Amazons. The men may feel guilty making her cry. The Amazons won't. Given her history with Jewario, and her history in seeking to do precisely this same thing with CtC, the Amazons will be inspecting her dental work, by way of her anus. My money is on she completely shuts down and fails to respond, getting a default judgement. Then the fun begins.

He knows she's gonna hit him for this, right?

I mean, he didn't name anybody, but she's still gonna try.
She will try, with tears in his eyes.
However mass reporting tweets only works because they lack context... And the lack of context actually helps here.

Quick edit to throw some trivia your way. Whales never sleep and instead operate with half a brain while the other half rests while performing standard A to B swimming. Both parts are only really active when hunting or around a predator.

Draw connections to the Blobfish Ren as you will.

I don't think MarzGurl is gonna get hit in the first round. For one, I don't think we have a big enough war chest (yet) to justify it. For another, she's small fry in comparison, and I don't think she got a letter.

I am willing and able to be wrong and pleasantly surprised though.

I do certainly agree her prospects for the future, with or without a lawsuit, look grim though (see my above analytical post).

I think they might go for MarzWhore in the first round if only for the fact that she'd be an easier target to break and get potentially liable info on other more important people concerning any homosexual operations that may have occurred.
