Considering how Bob claims to be "pragmatic", and that there is "no such thing as a bad tactic", etc., you'd think he'd be happy to endorse the usual politician strategy of "tell them a bunch of bullshit to get their votes that you have no intention of following through on" for his side. But no, he demands that they not even speak to people not already on their side, which is a losing strategy if ever there was one. I suspect that it's rooted in a deep insecurity; for all his claims of worldly wisdom, Bob can't actually tell when a politician is bullshitting for votes and when they are really on his side. As an autist, he can't read people worth a damn, and he's just too stupid to make up for this deficit with intelligence. It's not like he's plugged in to the Progressive network very well either, he's just a low-ranking water carrier who is tolerated despite his loathsome nature because his audience makes him slightly useful to The Cause. So he doesn't have anyone to tell him, "Oh, don't worry, we know that he doesn't actually mean any of that problematic stuff about actually caring about poor white people."
