I suspect Russell thought he could build anticipation and "buzz" for his song by teasing his audience with the release date, only to keep postponing it until enough people beg him to release it, or perhaps some media outlet inquires about it. How many different release dates has he promised by now? How many times has he promised to post a sample, if not the entire thing? It's like he's playing hard-to-get, holding out until he's sure his song will get all the attention he's hoping for, rather than simply being mocked here, by us, and on Nick Rekieta's stream.
But what he obviously doesn't get that all of this promising-without-delivering, all of this teasing, simply annoys the shit out of people, and makes him look like he's got something to hide.
On top of that, there's no way for him to release the song without it getting mocked. He can't control how people respond to it, for good or ill, and that drives him absolutely nuts. He's very controlling when it comes to how people perceive him--as all Narcissists are--and that he can't get even his apparent friends and allies to see him exactly as he wants to be seen (such as when his unfunny, tone-deaf attempts at "humor" or "jokes" fall flat) infuriates him. He wants to have the final say over how other people see him, or his song, or his "plights," and is not only frustrated and angry that all of his attempts to control others' perceptions of him keep failing, but he's just too fucking stupid to understand why.
He's such a little weirdo. He's like an alien being who got dropped off here with only the sketchiest understanding of how humans behave and interact with each other. So, being shallow and image-obsessed, he's decided that the best means to do so is through inspirational self-help cliches, advertising campaigns, publicity stunts, and press releases--means of communication that are crafted to evoke certain desired emotional reactions, but that any intelligent human can see right through for the phony, manipulative bullshit they are. Only to him, they're not phony and manipulative; that's just how humans interact with each other, and WHY ISN'T IT WORKING? It must be the fault of these stupid, inferior humans for being too idiotic--or willfully mean--to respond properly when he's spelled it all out for them!
I do think he will release the song, eventually--he has to. But I think he'll only do it after attempting to get media attention first, through an email campaign, with the idea that if he can get it featured in the news before us "haters" have a chance to mock it and taint public opinion, people will have a chance to see that it's a real work of genius. Because apparently, we autists here at the Farms are powerful enough to make people hate it when they otherwise wouldn't.
