(I wasn't sure whether this should be in "Games" or "Deep Thoughts", so if this thread needs to be moved, so be it)
I'm caught in a situation right now that's so bizarre right now, I actually got lightheaded when I first got the proposition. I'm sure there's going to be a lot of people calling me autistic or a yarn-spinner or whatever, and really, I can't blame you, given the scale of irony here.
So I have a cousin (whom I won't name for concerns of privacy) who's not actually famous herself, but has connections with a lot of famous people, from Brian Eno to Penn & Teller. Come to think of it, I have no idea what she does for a living, since she always seems to be working on another art project... Anyway, she's flown me out to San Francisco a couple times so I can visit and attend whatever cool event is going on. She took me to see Tom Petty, and introduced me to one of my favorite actors. The only downside to hanging out with her is that she's got the views typical of SJWs, but I can live with that, since she doesn't really argue about it much because she's afraid of becoming a "fascist".
She told me the other night that one of her good friends knows how enthusiastic I am for video games, and wants to take me to GDC 2015 in March. Which sounded very nice! Until she told me who the friend is: Leigh Alexander. All Leigh knows is my name, that her friend is my cousin, and that I'm a generally nice dude who loves video games.
So I'm a little torn right now. Do I miss out on a big trade show for one of my favorite industries just because there are some inevitable creeps there? Or do I attend, bite my tongue, and pretend to pal around with someone who's at the forefront of Anti-GG? Maybe you guys can help me decide?
