There's no way this guy can have an attorney right now. He refuses to shut up about the situation when he has a high chance to be sued. No lawyer in their right mind would allow this.

My take in this: he had a lawyer, was able to pay retainer for a short period of time (when he went protected mode), was unable to afford any other retainers or fees, and lost the lawyer. He probably knows a little from asking the lawyer questions, but not enough to take on Ty.

He has an attorney of record. Which means he met and had a consult with the lawyer, when he got his letters, paid some up front money, and signed the necessary paperwork to engage the lawyers services. But since there is not an active case filed yet that’s probably all he did. His Lawyer isn’t watching his antics or offering ongoing advise and commentary. His lawyer likely will throw a shit fit when he sees that Ty Beard ethics complaint. Assuming he hasn’t already. But his Lawyer probably knows nothing of the ongoing stupidity. All he’s seen is the spoilage letters. So he likely told Soye “you may be sued, you may be a witness, come back when you get served.” Ron’s Lawyer isn’t going to burn billable hours reading Twitter shit storms until his client is a litigant. This is assuming that Ron signed a Representation Agreement with the Lawyer, and didn’t just go for a consult. We know Ty sent an e-mail to the lawyer. We don’t know if he got any response.
Fools of Toye’s generation exist in a bubble of instant gratification. They expect immediate responses. And anything further than a week past is ancient history (unless they can use it against somebody). When lawsuits didn’t show up right after Ty was hired he assumes the treat is over he won! Yeah, Soy Toye is a moron.

I think Nick's theory is that he talked to the guy, and was told to just sit tight, shut up, and come back and see him when he actually gets served.
Whether or not that means its his attorney or not probably depends on whether he's payed a retainer.

except industries never burn. video games and books have proven that. try to, and worst case all you do is level the playing field and reintroduce meritocracy.
in other words, they actually help the industries they intend to take over/hurt unwittingly and there's not a damn thing they can do about. they leave? well there's some cancer gone. they destroy the industry? well, companies that have good va's will reappear eventually because of demand.

Y'know, places like Funimation and Crunchyroll think they're hot shit because of their streaming services, but I remember 4KIDS being kind of ahead of the curve when it came to streaming. Thing was, they were just really shitty with money and were rather out-of-touch by not making available the uncut subs for premium users. Had they done that instead of cowering in the corner whenever the FCC looked at them funny, I think they could've survived losing Pokémon and (potentially, if they were smart about their money) Yu-Gi-Oh.
