Arin Hanson / Egoraptor / Grump - "Hey I'm Grump!" of Game Grumps fame, hypocritical SJW doxer, shat himself recording a let's play

If you are - it's contagious.

I just want to know who in the office greenlit this. I mean sure, the fans and actual literal children will eat it up, but doing nothing but the Grubba voice for 30 minutes, with no Dan to bounce off of, on top of people already getting pissed with the thumbnail/title changes as is.

It's not even a lead-up to an April Fools joke: on the PlayStation 3 at the very beginning, you can see they recorded this the day after April 1st.

720399

So either this was made after the fact because they forgot to make an April Fools Day video, or the entire reason for the thumbnails and titles changing was to lead up to this video.

In which case: this is a terrible punchline.

So, apparently - that whole 'April Fools' vid, was not an April Fool's joke. According to folks on the rantgrump subreddit, Arin admitted in stream that there had been another 'scheduling error' and - apparently - they didn't have enough episodes to air for the time Dan was away on vacation. So, he took it upon himself to make a week's worth long set of videos playing games while using annoying voices. He even acknowledged that people would end up hating it.

I'm left to wonder 1) How does this supposed professionally run business keep making these scheduling conflicts - does nobody communicate there? 2) with their reduced number of recorded uploads, how are they still short on recorded content and 3) why do recordings that you know the fans will hate?

Update to the Jimmy situation: during the stream when they thought that the stream was muted so that no one could hear them, Dan, Arin, and Allie accidentally revealed some very interesting bits of information.

First off, Allie and Dan's weekend plans were revealed to the public, so they can now expect a hoard of Lovelies at the place they're going to.

And secondly, and more pertinent to the discussion, that Allie was constantly brown-nosing to Arin telling people how much people loved the Jimmy videos, and that she would ban anyone in the chat or on the channel who dare speak otherwise. I shit you not, this was a real thing that happened. As of right now, the only evidence to find pointing back to this is this post on RantGrumps from someone who was in the stream, and a few people on the Main Sub questioning exactly what the fuck is going on. Along with Allie doing damage control in the chats so as to not share the video link or anything in regards to what happened in the stream.

I have never seen such a massive display of managerial incompetence and ego stroking with Game Grumps in quite some time, and that's saying something given the weird shit that's happened BTS for years.

...Also they have another new person there named Kris. Why? What's his job there? Who the fuck knows? All I know was he was the reason they cleared the stream without actually...y'know, shutting the thing off.

EDIT: Okay, there is one way to get it: if you watched the stream at any point, you can access it from your own video history. If anyone was at that stream, archive it ASAP.

EDIT 2: The most I could find was the original VOD link that was generated right after the stream, as they private the video near instantaneously:

I don't know which I find worse (aside from the obvious weekend plans being leaked - because that's a no brainer). The fact that Allie's 'I'll ban anyone from chat who doesn't like you're Jimmy voice' confirmed that Arin surrounds himself with an echo chamber/hugbox, the fact they keep hiring new people despite supposedly barely being able to support the staff they already have or the fact that no disciplinary action will probably happen after such a colossal screw up on the new kid's part.

While shit keeps piling up on Arin, I'd like to add to the pile.

I don't think this has been brought up on this thread but there's been a theory going around that Arin is a closet troon
I've seen threads on imageboards and reddit talking about it and they cover the same points. I'm so glad reddit is such a shitshow for the game grumps community because they do all the legwork for us and we just archive it.

he acts like a sperg for attention and thinks he's funny, that's all there is to it.

Unavailable. Hope somebody's got that saved somewhere
I mean, I'd worry about this a lot more but it's also Game Grumps: either someone absolutely saved a recording like people have of all their other streams (if they caught it before it was privatized at least) or they'll just fuck up and reupload the VOD with the ending bit in there.

And even then we know exactly what they said based on said Redditor being there, as did everyone watching the stream itself, so even if they try to deny this happened, people will (and are already) getting even more pissed off: https://www.reddit.com/r/rantgrumps/comments/bbgcv5/livestream_messup/ekj7h6f/

EDIT: Granted, people were already pissed that Kris started the stream late as is, but still.

They can't win here: they have over 100,000 people who witnessed that.

Chat and the comments section, can't forget that part. Adds just that extra little bit of audience antagonization.

Once again I am floored at how awful the production around this show is.

How do you not have enough episodes in the bag to cover a week's vacation? The episodes are 15 minutes long (at best) and you need 9 for a week on their current schedule. 9 x 15 gets you to 135 minutes, or 2.25 hours. I'm reasonably certain you could find 2.25 hours in any single working day and if you knew a vacation was coming up you could record for an entire day (9 hours) and have four weeks worth of footage.

How do they not have a "rainy day" archive to upload in case something goes wrong? Do they have no concept of redundancy or professionalism?

Let's go a step further and assume that there is no possible way to have a backlog of footage (even though it's super easy and possible). If you're going to record new stuff, make sure it's good new stuff. Take the opportunity to do something different - you have all of these new staff members, maybe do an episode or two with them so fans know who they are? Maybe this would be a good time for a guest spot with a former Grump (Barry or Ross), back end Grump (Suzy or Brian), or other youtube person. Brian would be the easiest one because Starbomb has an album coming out, for fuck's sake.

Format wise, having one person out can lead to a very interesting dynamic and should be viewed as a unique opportunity. Radio shows would do this all the time (Think of the Billy West era of the Howard Stern Show vs the Artie Lange era, or the Opie and Anthony show when Opie or Anthony were on vacation) as do other youtube shows. Their inability to do this is part of the reason they're stagnating.

Let's take the last step and assume there was no way to prepare for this (there was) and there is no way to record new footage (there is), just run some variation of a "best of" show. There are nearly 7,000 uploads on the channel, you could very easily highlight some of your favorite parts from that huge backlog and maybe even tell some "behind the scenes" stories about them and drive users to check out older content.

I can't believe that none of this occurred to a "youtube professional" of nearly a decade or any person he's hired on, it's really "Programming 101". That despite all of the ways to handle the issue (that should never have occurred) he landed on "I'll do an irritating voice for a week". Jesus Christ.

How can they say they listen to their fans when we've got the social media girl admitting they omit anything negative/critical?

Can't wait to see how the lovelies excuse that away.

Here's hoping they get their collective shit together before they start touring (they've got almost two months before that happens; so, there'd be no excuses to explain another 'scheduling error' in their absence).

Actually that's the worst part: given how Matt and Ryan have talked about their schedule of them recording for 8-9 hours in one day (usually on Mondays), most people just assumed that they had a backlog like that. They had to've, considering that two weeks ago, they were still releasing episodes recorded during this year's Super Bowl. Where did all of the episodes they had go? Did they have any episodes? What were they doing during that time if they couldn't record episodes in the span of two months? Seriously, to reiterate: where the fuck is the two months worth of footage you said you had!?

What makes this even better is that, not only do they have people pick out their games nowadays (thank you again, SuperMegaCast, for that bountiful clip) so it's not even a matter of what they play anymore, but this was already on top of the schedule change back in January that was supposed to cut down on the workload and ensure stuff like this didn't happen.

How are things somehow infinitesimally worse with them doing less work than before!?

Good idea; ...several problems with that.

1. Barry's gone. As in completely out of the office. As in he actually had to resign on Twitter and the Grumps have never mentioned him since.

2. Ross has already stated (and stayed true to this statement) that, unless it's for livestreams, he doesn't want to have any part in making videos he doesn't feel like making, because he'd know the quality would suffer.

3. You look me in the eye, and tell me with a straight face that a Suzy-centric Grumps episode that's not Date Grumps would go over well with the fanbase.

4. I legitimately don't know where the hell Brian is, or if he's even still there. For all we know, he could've been with Dan on his vacation to New York/Jersey or ended up silently quitting Game Grumps.

5. People already hate interns like Allie as is for butting in during streams and causing controversies with the Lovelies getting super pissy that Game Grumps detractors keep getting proven right. Putting them into an actual Grumps episode would probably be the straw that breaks the camel's back.

But Tanner, you don't un-der-stand: the schedule needs to say the same or else they all look like a bunch of fuckin' clods with no business sense. Don't ask Arin the CEO, he don't know shit about what's happening. Ask Brent, the fuckin' dick of a manager or whoever the fuck Allie, Kris, Ike and these new people are who're seemingly infesting the show with their bad ideas.

What about the schedule, Tanner.

What about the schedule.

I didn't want to reply to the whole post, so I grabbed this part. Barry and Ross don't work for GG anymore, I realize this, but Barry and Ross are still youtube guys and I'm not suggesting that they re-sign up for GG forever, but one of them would likely find it advantageous to get a week's worth of plugs on a channel with 5 million subs when it would only take 2.5 hours out of a single day. It doesn't have to be one of them, either, really any "ok" youtuber would do, a warm body is better than Arin doing a wacky voice for 9 episodes. I only suggested Barry/Ross because those (to me, at least) are the easiest.

Barry could come on and do something KH related as his recent KH Summary video was a break out for him (2+ million views) and that's a real easy way to kill 2 hours.

Ross could come on and do some Mario Maker stuff (which would be refresher as they're doing some Mario Maker 2 stuff down the road) and that's also an easy way to kill 2 hours. It may even be interesting to see what the Mario Maker community is doing these days as some time has passed since GG (and most other youtubers) have checked it out.

Suzy, although I understand she isn't well liked, is still probably better than nothing (or Arin doing a wacky voice). I don't know her stuff all that well, but I feel like nearly any human being can be interesting for 2 hours.

Brian (I'm assuming he doesn't vacation with Dan, but it's 2019 who the fuck knows) is really the simplest. "Hey I'm Ninja Brian and we've just started taking pre orders on the new 'Starbomb' album this week, here's some fun stories about recording" for 2 hours.

Even if it can't be one of those people, finding a second person should be crazy easy for Arin. I'm not a big LP watcher but any of the people who guest grumped (or were on Table Flip or some other show), any youtuber they've collabed with (Matt and/or Woolie from Super Best Friends would probably kick a puppy for that exposure now that the group split up) and so on.

Who would have thought alcohol were to save someone 's reputation?

JonTron was lucky Arin was so upset at his hangover Jon was let out of the Grump Garbage Dumpster.

Now it's Arin that's the lolcow and married a Yoko Ono.
