wait, wait, wait. are you saying that Toei has people working with kamehacon and that likely they heard/saw the bullying the owners/staff were getting from sabat and rial?

.... do you think its possible they tried to bully the toei workers into silence?

That would be picking a fight way, way above their weight class but these dumb motherfuckers have shown no restraint or knowledge of their limitations at any point in this drama, so. . .who knows?

Oh that would have been quite possibly the biggest fuck-up they could have done. They probably just targeted upper KC structure and tried to keep it all hush hush. We all know how well that worked out for them....

Way back when All in the Family was big on TV, there was an episode where Meathead was up for promotion to his lifetime dream job, but lost out to a black guy because Affirmative action was the current cause de'celeb. Rather than freak out, he sat there alone after his boss left, talking to himself about how good and right it was that he got fucked over.

I wouldn't bet on these people learning a damn thing. They will just blame Superhomosogynistictransislamophobia and keep on keepin' on.

The Meathead character himself was a joke about liberal mentality. What's even more hilarious is that the 1983 spin-off "Gloria" sees Meathead run out on his wife and kid to shack up with one of his students. Pretty much what we've already seen from male feminists.

Other fun fact: the only (common) racial/ethnic/sexual slur Archie Bunker never used was "nigger." That was a bridge too far. However, George Jefferson said it.

That quirk of language was also remarkably authentic. I grew up around a lot of men from which Norman Lear and Carol O’connor drew Archie Bunker. The very New York streets where Lear was from. People that knew him. These men, including my Grandfather, were Archie down to the core. Bogotries and all. They had a dozen ways to describe “the colored folk”. But that N word was one they didn’t use and shunned. They were better than that and would not use such language! Just ask the “neegra’s”. It was a very working class New York sort of thing.

Agreed. I've known Archie Bunker types and they would never, ever say "nigger" because they considered it beneath them. Many of them learned that from their moms, too, who would use the old timey remedy of washing your mouth out with soap for saying certain words. Most of them were plain old obscenities but "nigger" was also in the list.

Maybe youre thinking of Yoko Kano, the woman who does a ton of theme songs/music for games and Anime?

No this was a work related thing involving licenses for an outfit I did some consulting work for. It was Yoko somebody, and they were based out of California for a Japanese company. Like I said it’s gonna drive me nuts all day. It was years ago.

Toei definitely doesn't have people working with Kamehacon... Dealing with but not working with.
Toei hates Kamehacon.

It was like that way upstate as well. We had a lot of Quebec in the bloodline and very little color of any kind. But the word wasn't common by any stretch. The "Archie" mentality was pretty much most of the men up there.

every japanese company has a certain amount of hate for each other, but they still work together on some level. though it makes sense they wouldn't help kamehacon.

that being said, it'd be a shame if someone found a few of these Toei people and managed to get word up the grapevine about the drama... and how everyone is sad to see kamehacon go.

Interestingly enough, the ONLY people i've seen use words like that, are the one's who virtue signal all day about it.

I agree Soye, things have to change. But not in the way you want them to.

No, I’m saying Toei, and just about any other major media IP company will have agents walking the cons and reporting back to them. They mostly search for unlicensed or bootleg merchandise and improper use of IP’s. They aren’t working with Kamehacon, and Kamehacon generally would no know who they are, until they show up with a list of vendors they want shut down. Kamehacon being a Dragonball specific con probably also has an official Toei rep they deal with for sponsorships and guidance etc. Hasbro will do this regarding Transformers. Bandai will do it regarding Gundam, etc. Lucasfilms used to be draconian about it.

Conveniently Sony owns people who aren't Funimation. Aniplex!

Aniplex is run by Sony, and therefore just as retarded.

Something people haven't really emphasized here is that Gen is out as CEO of Funimation as of February 1st. He's just a seat warmer as Chairman, with a minority 5% share. Sony has their own people in now.

I don't think it's coincidental that this shit started after the management change. I think there's a possibility that Gen might have kept the harpies off Vic, and is in no position to do so anymore.

The interesting thing about that is that Funimation has Dragonball because of Gen. His cousin works for Toei, and convinced the higher ups there to give him he license back in the 90s. I wonder what would happen if Gen reported back to Toei that things have gone completely off the rails.

Truth. You seem to know your stuff.

Toei is definitely not happy about Kamehacon. I wouldn't be surprised if part of this was to boost a new, completely official DragonBall convention.

I don't know much about the Vic stuff but anything this con does wrong is just helping Toei's mission.

These lefties must be mad they didn't get Kavanaugh, can't go after RBG's expected replacement, and so are letting some minor fishies swallow up someone they think they can get.

We'll see....how many times has FUNI been sued over DB by now?

EVERYTHING has gone wrong sense, from this, to their crappy subscription to their site repeatedly not letting people cancel, recently dropping, even for them, release quality.

It's more I watched anime, realized it wasn't an accurate reflection of japan, and researched it myself. there are a few youtubers that live in japan and speak english decently well.

best example is, its a stereotype that japanese hate americans, but thats far from the truth. they just don't like jackasses that cause major lifestyle disruptions, like logan paul. further, they accept outsiders, but refuse and reject any unskilled panda's.

So basically, if you work hard, respect their people and customs, you'll get that same respect back, from the large majority. What a novel idea.
