Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

it's not about him incriminating himself or breaching some lawyer code of conduct.
it's a matter of general reputation.
being neck-deep in autistic internet drama is not a good look.
associating with people like null and sites like KF is not a good look.
catering to edgy internet meme culture is not a good look.

if you're involved in all this stuff yourself then you don't register it as such because it has become normal to you, but to the general population all this stuff is unsettling and objectionable.
small time clients won't give a shit about this, but bigger businesses that have to worry about PR and public image certainly will, and all this shit paints a prety dubious picture of nick, to put it mildly.
Thing is, the general population tends to actually support Vic once they hear what's going on. And I don't think Nick is really neck-deep in autism, as much as he's dropping tactical nukes from orbit on people who look like complete disasters already. Nick himself seems pretty clean.

whether we see a 5th Bulma May be another story.

Reminder that the OG Bulma, the japanese one that worked since the very beginning of Dragon Ball with Toei, died last year when Super finished. Toei will NOT be happy with anyone important mudding the name of Bulma, much less her 4th voice actress that has only worked on it since Kai and Super (and she barely appeared on the last one), and even much less so soon after the death of Hiromi Tsuru.

All this bad rep to Bulma will anger Toei.

Second Japanese Bulma is amazing as well, and they only had her for what, three episodes or so.

What are the chances Toei could convince Vollmer to come back?

So True, Bulma is an OG like Goku.

RIP Hiromi Tsuru

Hiromi Tsuru's death was really tragic. She was experiencing aortic dissection while driving. She pulled over as to not harm other drivers. She was found unconscious in her car but was pronounced dead at the hospital after being transferred there.

The fact that primadonna has to be mentioned in the same breath as Tsuru honestly makes me gag a little.

Hey, has anything really happened since last night's stream? Gave up on catching up, I'm like 20 pages behind

Have you seen Dragon Ball Super: Broly?

He kind of becomes Goku's friend by the end of it and because he's strong he'll show up again.

Agreed with regards to the ending and we have no idea what Toriyama/Toei may be planning but if you're following the manga, you'll know that Broly hasn't appeared since the events of the movie. Toriyama/Toei confirmed some time ago that if and when super returns, they will not be summarising the events of the Broly movie as it's not necessary. The only reason the first two movies were summarized into arcs for super was so that some retcons could be made and Toriyama insisted on it because he claimed Beerus, Whis and the God Transformations were pivotal to the storyline of Super and everyone needed to be familiar with them. Broly is definitely going to be brought back at a later point in time but who knows how soon.

Too true. wasn't Nozawa with her as well while all this was happening ?

She left because of Sabat iirc, so it depends on that angle

Wait what? What did Sabat do ? I know Linda Young stopped voicing Frieza because she apparently couldn't bring the needed intensity to the character that Super demanded which is why they recast her. (and Tbh Chris Ayres is doing a fantastic job, the only criticism I have with him is that he's too openly racist towards saiyans in his lines whereas sub frieza implies it more than he outright says it. Although that's probably a voice director's choice and not his own. Given how close Geekdom claims to be with him and his strictness with dubbing choices, I would've thought that he would've told him about this and try to have it changed)

With Android 18 or the voice of kid/teen gohan in the OG Z dub I think one of them left voice acting because they wanted to focus on their song career (Not sure about the other).

I had no idea about this, please, do tell what happened

Not really. Besides the Dominique incidentand a 400 page lawsuit going out to Soye there hasn't been anything major to take note of

There were rumours that she dropped out because she and Sabat didn't get along at all. I don't know if it is 100%, but after everything we have learned of Sabat and how once he "took over" the voice directing of DBZ, he changed everyone because MAH PRIDE...well, i am starting to believe it.

Also, Chris Ayres hasn't voiced Frieza in anything of Super except the Broly movie, he only did Z. The guy is in the hospital waiting to have both his lungs transplanted. In Super, it was Damian Mills, one of Rial's lapdogs, who voices Frieza

I don't think so. It's the first I've heard of it. She was driving alone last I read.

Nozawa and many other cast members from her various works attended her memorial though.

Her family held a private funeral followed by a memorial service where hundreds gathered to pay their respects. Among the mourners were her cast mates from the Dragon Ball and Anpanman anime series, Mayumi Tanaka (Krillin), Keiko Toda (Anpanman), Miina Tominaga (Rollpanna), Ryusei Nakao (Baikinman/Freeza), Masako Nozawa (Goku), Tohru Furuya (Yamcha), Ryo Horikawa (Vegeta), Kouichi Yamadera (Beerus), Naoko Watanabe (Chichi), TARAKO, and Yoko Oginome.

Approximately 400 mourners came to pay their respects to Tsuru, whose picture was set among 4,000 flowers, seven Dragon Ball balloons, and her beloved characters while the ending theme to Dragon Ball played in the background. Masako Nozawa, visibly upset, gave a speech as representative of the visitors.

"The seven Dragon Balls are here and are said to be able to do anything, right? But it was useless this time, I'm sorry," she said. "I still don't know what happened, and I wish I could have asked her 'what's wrong?' But it seems Hiromi, without bothering anyone, has gone on to a world where we can't follow. But, there are many friends there. I don't want to say this but, Hiromi, please watch over our world. Goodbye."

Ryusei Nakao added that working on Anpanman will be difficult without the voice of Dokin-chan there. "Although it will be hard, I will keep trying my best. Please keep watching the show." He then continued in the voice of his character Baikinman, although his voice cracked while saying, "Dokin-chan! Bye bye king!"

But according to wiki, he's been the voice director since 1999. Could be false, I'm just going to check up on the credits at the end of a DB ep

EDIT

yup, Sabat is in the credits as far back as the Funi dub of DB in 1999. So she possibly left cos of another reason. Not saying it couldn't be something Sabat did tho.

No dude, he has done a few eps. 19-25 and 92 where frieza talks to frost (who is voiced by Chris' brother, so nice touch)

Save for Xenoverse 2 and DBS: Broly, I'm not sure if Ayres has voiced Frieza, too.

That's false. Barry Watson would have been director. Sabat was only an assistant director. Sabat wouldn't get that much power till later
