Kate is getting desperate for cash, it seems. The dive on Patreon has got her attention, and she is offering "free" bust commissions as a random draw in a livestream at the end of each month - but only if you pledge at the $16 tier.
According to the post, which I access via yiff.party, she will draw ONE reference each month, based on how many people "like" it in the comments. Pretty shit deal if you ask me: 16 bucks per upload for a slim chance at art of one's fursona's head, providing that your rival pledgers like it? She can fuck right off if she thinks people will fall for that one: it's not free when you'll be potentially paying many $16 pledges until you're selected - it'd be easier to just commission someone else.
And for fucks' sake, Kaitlyn: saying cheers doesn't make you cool or cute.

Wait, wait, wait. So people have to vote on which of the characters they want to see drawn? Oh yeah, that totally won't go bad at all with how furries will dogpile anyone who's semi popular. They've all got the mentality of high schoolers at BEST after all. Why not just host a livestream for whoever comes first serve? Wouldn't that make more sense? A lot of other artists do that and it seems to work out well, but still, paying for just a 'chance' is shit anyways.

I coughed on my water the second I saw that model. The anatomy looks off and I really got puzzled as well to why he gave his sona a feminine-look. But, it's Jasonafex we're talking about. He already did have his sona in a feminine-form that Kabs drew for him, so it wouldn't be much of a surprise to see his sona still contain the feminine properties despite his sona is a male.

The way that the shading is painted on to the torso looks terrible, like one of those t-shirts that have fake abs printed on them.
Also, the tacky overuse of depth-of-field, Bokeh, chromatic aberration, film grain, and contrast adjustments makes me think that maybe Kabs is hoping to win points for style in the absence of technical ability, or at least somewhat mask the failings of this piece.

That music on that site is fucking obnoxious. Tangent aside, seeing how this looks is more of a testament to Kabier's lack of real artist skills, cause this picture more or less sums in the drastic gap in quality.

Ok wow that's pretty bad. I take back any praise I had for her first model. I am realizing a lot of mistakes, and it's possible she did this mostly in zbrush and use the auto-topology button. The feet are badly done, shit form and look like wads of clay.
Looks like she took my advice to pose the fingers but did it pretty poorly, both anatomy and pose wise.
The face is totally lop-sided, it's possible she doesn't know how to rig lol

Not to mention, zbrush has a symmetry tool. If she did it by eye then it's not the worse I've seen but it's stupid not to make use of something pretty much all professionals use. If she did use the symmetry tool then either this is poorly rigged or she did a really shit job texturing it. But them horns man
She should have just started out with blender, zbrush is fucking expensing and not a good tool to learn 3D in.

Agree, blender can be modded to act similarly to zbrush. Beginners and veterans of 3D design use the program.Not to mention, zbrush has a symmetry tool. Part of it is trying super hard to reassure patrons that the money they spend on shit is supposedly being used to increase quality/production. You'll notice in Kab's introduction for her youtube, she's talking about how she's spent time getting a new tablet, and Jason's trying to focus on VR stuff. Problem is, neither produces content faster, and work is their excuse for wasting their money on several-hundred dollar gadgets.

That $16 tier is against Patreon's TOS. Paid raffles (paying for the chance to get art) is not allowed. This is a reportable offense. EVERYONE must get art if you're offering art. Otherwise, don't mention it and randomly give out free art to a random person each month. Voting on the raffle entries does not make it any less gambling, as you're not guaranteed a win. "Purchase necessary to win".

Read my edited post again. You also don't have to PAY to vote in the presidential election.
Being required to pay for a chance to win is against their TOS, and against US law.
In order for it to be a viable option, Kabier would have to do one of the following:
-Every patron lower than $16 (even nonpaying patrons, basically patrons subbed to your patreon for updates without paying) would also have to be entered into the vote for this to be considered acceptable in their TOS,
-Give every $16 tier pledge a free bust art, OR
-Remove that text and just pick a random patron each month and message them for free art. Simple as that.

That means, regardless of your entry being voted on. Kabier's tier is essentially a contest to vote which one the patrons want to be drawn next. You must pay to enter the contest (via a $16 pledge). This is actually illegal by law.

That's what Kabier would do, random and "random" winners. Still, would be even more scummy and "illegal" than what she has now and Patreon would ban that in a heartbeat if it was reported.
