I can’t speak for Texas, but there are a few practical tests the courts generally use with regards to establishing privilege of marriage via common law. Under “cohabitation” they often look for more than share a mailing address. And more establish a household. The big one that makes it easy is commingling of household funds. Do they have a shared bank account for household expenses? Are they functioning as a household or are they two fully independent people renting rooms?

These are all moot points as we have hundreds of recorded tweets of them referring to each other as fiance’s And specifically not married. If they don’t consider themselves married, nobody else will.

Pal, that wasn't the talking point. The conversation was whether or not Ren could be a proper whore. It's not her body or her personality that's keeping people from putting good money into her. Of course she's an awful human being. The fact that she would have her cronies organize to take potshots at a man's family is undoubtedly deserving of severe punishment if TUG can manage to get the evidence to stick it to her. Douglas(not so sure about him), then there are some ANN people early on, and Marzgurl, who is unlikely based on how Nick talked about her maybe not even getting brought into the case since she's broke and pathetic.

Seeing the Dox of Adam from Crunchy Roll reminded me because he was one of the more interesting candidates for Iago, which reminded me to look at Igor again. Nick and Ty said we won't have a reveal of their identities until at least round 2, so even when the suit drops today(fingers crossed), we'll still be wondering for a while.

Don't forget that Ty has mentioned that perhaps a better name than Igor would have been Renfield. I thought that in particular was an interesting thing to say. What would be the difference between the two subservient sidekicks? Perhaps that Renfield, feeling some form of guilt, turns against his master.

Or maybe Ty was just saying their a gross lunatic that are being offered something spectacular while being fed nothing but flies. Either way, the way they've been talked about, made me feel like Igor was someone in the Anime "Journalism" side of things. But we'll see.

I would say not. Common law marriage is one of those hoary ancient doctrines deriving from tradition, and they don't act like married people. They act and hold themselves out as a couple of hipster jackasses shacking up and living in sin. Their friends and associates would view them as that. Their neighbors would view them as that.

I think an attempt to do that at this late date would look just like a half-assed attempt to weasel out of something. And it wouldn't even be retroactive.

Yeah, when the code names first dropped, most of us jumped on "Toye/Shane" as Igor/Renfield, but it being someone in the incestuous 'journalism' side of things keeps coming back up in my mind. Also, is it possible it's one of the more vocal cosplayers? Dominique's gay op at Kamehacon sounds like something an Igor would do... I didn't think much of the Sabat/Skye connection, but when she tried that...well, she moved way up on the list.

From a psychological standpoint...oh hell yeah is that a possibility. In general, and I truly do mean in general and traditionally, a father is the one who helps push the boundaries and makes a child more comfortable with physical activity and contact. Fathers traditionally push the envelope and make people more comfortable with themselves and others, either via a positive teasing, rough play, or other physical activity(think Father/Daughter dances, sports, etc.)

I say all of this fully aware it is not a 'one size' fits all, but it definitely is possible that kind of thing compounds into 'everything is sexual assault' or inappropriate, because they never stretched their boundaries, and so 'everything' is outside the window of acceptable behavior.

Edit- I want to stress, a mother CAN play that role, and a father vice versa. As you can probably guess from my username though, I do believe in 'archetypes' playing out in my understanding of family and life, and I think you consciously have to acknowledge those roles.

You will find that “Daddy issues” is a remarkably common thread that runs throughout not just this shitshow, but quite a number of other shitshows around here. Although I suspect that for most it isn’t so much Daddy didn’t hug them enough as Daddy didn’t discipline them enough. Spare the Rod Spoil the Child if you will.

Actually, it does allow you to change your tax filing status. You quite simply fill out your taxes as married. It's only an issue if it's challenged, and if it's clear that you're legitimately married, the challenge won't succeed. I'm not sure what procedure an insurance company would use, but it would make the decision itself. It doesn't require a court to do anything.

The only difference (at least in Texas) would be that a marriage certificate would be conclusive proof of marriage, while a common law marriage, if challenged, would have to be argued.
