I want off Mr. Hanson's Wild Ride.

Hey you know what's fun? Not polarizing a rabid fanbase.

You know what he should do? Stop polarizing his rabid fanbase.

What does he end up doing? Continually polarizing the rabid fanbase.

How does the fanbase respond in kind? By polarizing themselves even further and driving everyone of to the Rant sub that they all hated, and into your editor's loving arms channels.

Congratulations, Mr. Hanson: you just gave your rabid detractors a shitton of supporters because you like pissing people off. You get one singular puzzle piece as your reward for making everybody who liked you miserable.

Like a good content creator.

...Gotta love how he also specifically chose all the games fans have wanted them to play for years, right?

Wait, really?

Aside from that Miss Spiders game? Yes, absolutely.

- For starters, FEAR was highly requested for both Arin and Dan to play, if only for the fact that it's a horror game and would bring about similar reactions to their P.T. one-off (one of the highest-viewed/rated videos on the channel).

- Mr. Mosquito and arguably Swagman were two others, this one following in the shadow of the Katamari series, the latter of the two less so (albeit some have brought up that the gameplay would fit incredibly well with their format, akin to the Goof Troop playthrough).

- Harry Potter was actually a series they started way back when with Ross, but then completely dropped for whatever reason, and was immediately put on the list of games that people have wanted back for years.

- Azure Beat: I mean, c'mon. It was played back in the Jon Era, they still have the game, people want to see Dan play it; that one's kind of a no-brainer.

- Mortal Kombat Mythologies was somewhat encouraged to be played for the shovelware/bad movie aspects of it, though I will admit that I don't know how much that sentiments changed after the slew of clickbait shovelware released over this past month.

- And finally the Naruto game for the sole reason that people are begging for a VS. game and for Dan to just do fucking anything at this point.

think this is some super late april first shit?

So good news: Franklin and Jimmy, predictably, have gone through their episode backlog and the Grumps returned to their regularly-scheduled playthroughs.

Bad news: It's Sonic Adventure 2. And they're right back to reading even more of that Sonic fanfiction for the entire episode.

Once again, I feel compelled to remind people that this is the same fanfiction that they read back during Sonic Unleashed.

The best part is that people are claiming on r/GameGrumps and r/RantGrumps of how this was what the majority wants because the minority was loud so that obviously makes them a minority, so the quiet ones are actually the majority, and thus enough people were quiet about it that the quietness means that people wanted it.

Funnily enough, this is also a similar mindset that's been taken to the recent downvoting that happened with the Franklin/Jimmy videos.

Because that's what the mighty Grump idols had said in the most recent video. And they've never had bad ideas before. ...No that's not me being snide like I usually am, these are the actual reasons that've popped up.

I sincerely have to wonder if they honestly got that many emails rooting for Sonic smut fic reading that it justified them continuing to do just that; or if it's just some BS excuse to keep doing it because whoever is in charge of the direction their uploads take thinks it's hilarity at its finest (because, Danny wouldn't lie about fan interest - right?)

Maybe instead of going by 'emails'. Dan/The Grumps/whoever makes the executive decisions ought to look at their likes/dilsikes ratio and - most importantly - their viewcounts to get a better idea on how certain choices affect audience interest.

Hell, don't they drop certain games after a significant drop in viewcounts? In the span of a month, SA2 has had a 600k drop (from 878k down to 217k, as of right now).

Edit: Also, that Lovely's comment about the silent majority not minding/caring about the direction the Grumps take the channel makes me laugh over how delusional it sounds. They do care - they just know their opion is going to be cast aside in favor of the minority/what the Grumps want to do. Or do the lovelies honestly think that the drop in views really has to do with the Youtube algorithm, and not the fact that said silent majority have stopped watching out of disinterest?

What did I tell you: told you they'd upload the VOD with the "joke" from Allie still kept in.

They had to. If they didn't, it would have confirmed that it wasn't a joke and it would have made the Grumps look bad. But, leaving it in doesn't help them look any better.

Given the growing belief that the Grumps surround themselves in a hug box/echo chamber by avoiding negative criticism altogether - turning a blind eye (or ear) to an employee 'joking' about banning people from the stream/chat if they aren't in favor of the boss' idea of what makes for humorous content - in an active/live stream, no less! - doesn't help deter that assumption in the slightest.

This is the third time (that I can personally recall) that Allie has made herself (as well as the Grumps) look like incompetent tools (first being the lie about the lack of Ghoul Grumps episodes, then the Jon Benet Ramsey 'inside joke' and now this 'joke')l. Hope Arin pays Allie enough to make it worth losing any credibility she may have once had.

Oh no it gets worse: they had a livestream yesterday where they just laughed off all the shit that their Franklin/Jimmy videos did, but because the people in the office, and he himself, liked it, we might end up seeing more Jimmy videos (albeit Franklin videos are officially done-zo...unless fans want more!?). He understands that people hate the impression, but he then doubles down in the stream and fakes a phone call while doing it.

I don't understand why he would ever think continuing to do something like this just to piss off fans is a good idea, when he just spent all these months trying to appease the YouTube algorithm. You need to be made of spite to want to do something like that.

EDIT: As an aside, people have been donating for them to play Twilight Princess and Nier: Automata next right after they heard this...

I just don't know anymore.

Either Arin is deliberately trying to sabotage the channel; or he's trying to convince people that he knows what works - despite the numbers saying he's in the wrong (he made Game Grumps a business when 'someone' said it wouldn't work/be a good idea, after all. Why wouldn't it work a second time?)

Back when I was subbed to the channel, I used to want them to play Twilight Princess; but after the last couple of Zelda playthroughs (one that was never completed and both Majora's Mask and Skyward Sword being insufferable to watch because of how Arin can't play a game without excessive b*tching) as well as the fact that Dan seems to be refusing to play any Zelda games, anymore - I just can't bring myself to care, anymore.

This is what Arin deserves during their so called live show.

I just need Dan to meltdown at Arin during a stream and tell him to stop destroying his meal ticket with spite-based decision making.

It'll never happen, of course, but it would probably be the best thing that could.

Wait wait, it gets BETTER!

During the latest episode of SA2, they just talked about how those episodes were recorded in early March, meaning they had a backlog of episodes ready.

Meaning Franklin and Jimmy? Yeah: entirely pointless. Only made specifically to spite his fans and nothing else.
