Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

What if... what if this is a long con by Gen himself. What if he set up for Funimation to burn itself to the ground... only to found Mignognamation with Gen himself as the new CEO?

The pieces are all there guys. Gen leaves Funimation so he won't be caught in the crossfire and has plausible deniability. Vic, seemingly at random, moves back to Texas. These stories, buried for years, come out all at once.

Gen was an inside job
better. he swoops in, buys up the remnants, and using toei money makes a new dubbing studio and sells it to Toei.

Once again, I would like to re-introduce
Godswill Ugwa, Jr., the Social Media Coordinator of Funimation.

Based on his posts, the guy seems like a typical anime fan who landed a "dream job." Besides drinking soup in a questionable method,
https://archive.fo/MoRAa , he quoted AOC and responded to a tweet about #BrieLarsonForPresident (https://archive.fo/vx18l). He also seems fine with Sonic's design for the movie (https://archive.fo/CY80P). After weighing his opinion on the bathroom question (https://archive.fo/QMWh0), he thanks AOC for being a "light on what goes on" ( https://archive.fo/fpm9L) to show how woke he is.
As for Mignogna, the only thing about him that he posted on his social media was about how much he enjoyed Vic's rendition of One Piece's "We Are" (https://archive.fo/6o5Zj). He said this just days before Weeb Wars officially started.

Putting Ugwa's lolcow potential aside, there are some serious questions that need to be addressed. Since we know Ugwa's role as Social Media Coordinator, that means he is in charge of whatever message Funimation needs to be put on all of their social media accounts. This leads me to two questions about Funimation's tweets regarding Vic:
  1. Did Ugwa receive a copy from his superiors to tweet word-for-word the update that stated Funimation was not working with Vic and Ugwa simply followed the script?
  2. Did the second tweet come from Ugwa or possibly someone underneath him going "off-script" and he added his own opinions on the matter?
If its the first scenario, Ugwa looks like a patsy or a fall guy just following orders. If its the second scenario, well then....

I'm personally not inclined to call Ugwa a cow unless there is some proof he's not just some drone that was Tweeting out exactly what his superiors gave him. If they haven't fired his ass, I think we can probably assume he did nothing more than what they asked him to do.

And, in a legal sense, it doesn't matter. He Tweeted out something on the company branded account, acting as an agent of the company. It's the company that bears the responsibility.

I thought about that, but he still owns 5% of the company. I don't know why he'd destroy the valuation of his shares.

Fair enough, but eventually the OP will need to be updated to include the Kameha Con fiasco with VAs (and panelists) withdrawing, Monica's signing at Docs Comics and Games, Vic's success at Kameha Con (with The Beard actually being there), and, of course, Dominique Skye's failed gay op.

Been drafting some stuff. If nothing happens s by tomorrow gonna do an update anyway

That's because there was no second investigation.
Unless I'm misunderstanding, Nick confirmed the other day that there were two investigations, the second of which lasted all of three days. I presume that means that the first one was the one from which the Three Stories came from.

I'm not sure of the timeline of either, but there being two investigations might fix the timeline discrepancy; perhaps the first one was last summer and the second was the following winter.

Didn't Monica come out with the whole 'increase the females in VA's' during the con she got habercorn kicked out of?
This gives us an idea or why already.
There is also points that indicate she's apart of a group that want to reduce male in VA to 'increase' the females in VA. We can all doubt that Vic would openly join such a thing and considering he's liked by all his fans and no other VA is as well known or like as he is, it would make sense to target him first.
Is that an actual movement that actually exists?

Everyone gets VA talent based on need, and the only controllable variable there that I can think of (apart from just importing anime with more female roles) is choosing whether or not to get males or females to voice children-- and females do better child voices overall, so I'd wager that they're the ones with more opportunity than males.

Who would be a part of that except the exceptional?

The second part of the infamous announcement is so "diversity and inclusion" cookie-cutter that I can't imagine that he didn't type that up on an ad hoc order with a gun being slowly unbuckled in his direction. #1 it is.

better. he swoops in, buys up the remnants, and using toei money makes a new dubbing studio and sells it to Toei.

That would be the gay op to trump all gay ops.

Objectively. Well, if he stands back and lets the nutjobs run the asylum, and they do that immediately. He's left in a position where the best choice would be to throw him back to heading the ship fast by the company that owns them. Funimation was purchased with him heading the leadership position, and the moment he stops being in control everything goes to hell...

Do i think that was the end goal? No that reads like a rabid conspiracy theory. But stepping back and letting the inmates set fire to the ship and run it into the ground is well a really effective way to prove what his leadership did to keep things profitable.

The missing piece is that it wasn't just Rial alone that made enough of a stink. Nick on his stream last night implied that several employees at Funimation threatened to quit unless they got rid of Vic

Any remotely functional company would have responded to this by immediately handing out a batch of pink slips and asking if anyone else wanted one.

nevermind the fact that sony could replace anyone they lost with extreme ease. funimation fucked up on every conceivable level.

That's because there was no second investigation. Funi and the conspiring VA's only phrased things to make you fill in the blank that there was a Jan/Feb investigation in your own mind. Remember Sony came in to do the December 2018 one, because Funi's HR was so dysfunctional that nothing they did could pass legal muster. Funi did not have the capability to do a legit internal investigation. (The fact that we hear reports of Samatha Inoue Harte involved should be the huge corroboration of that.) They were playing word games to somehow give you the impression that the Investigation and Vic's firing were related, and that there was a subsequent second investigation. It would appear to be pure un mitigated bullshit. And this in particular seems to be what winds both Nick and Ty up into the white hot fury that we saw last night.
Actually there was a second investigation. Nick said it lasted for three days.

just a reminder to keep up with the trial because there are ways to break the law during a trial..... like deleting or destroying evidence which in most states is a felony crime.

So basically 1 day per story?
sounds like the best thing possible for a dysfunctional family to do.
Timmy did you steal my money?
Timmy: Mom no I never Billy did!!!
Mom: timmy I seen the toy in your room. I'll be confiscating it and giving it to Billy!!!
Timmy: But mom I have photo's!!!!
Mom: Timmy, shut up and take your punishment of it'll be 10 lashings, and not the BDSM one mommy uses, but the barbed one, okay?

kid fakes acceptance, runs for the phone, calls 911, em is killed, and everyone clapped.

They also haven't deleted the Tweets. Which means it's an approved messsage as far as they're concerned.

Did you not see how drinks soup? Or calls AOC a "light in the dark" and supports the idea of Brie Larson for president?

Misdemeanors. If everybody is a cow, nobody is a cow.

But... as the Kiwi saying goes... if you wanna start something on proving grounds, be my guest.

Sony could replace Funimation itself and just keep the name.

I theorized, much earlier, that they bought Funimation to gain more market share, and are probably gonna ultimately fold it into Aniplex.
