Dutch Angel Dragons

A lot of furries and popular artists. On Deviantart if you want to be big you need a popular closed species character that was designed by the maker. You could have the art skills of an 8 year old and as long as you had a super popular cs by the popular maker you are set. The exposure ironically pays off the large credit card debt they are in from buying the character.

The one that really gets me is the "Closed" species thing. I still don't know why those exist. I've seen horrible, unoriginal designs get sold off for about - the highest I saw was about $150. I have not once seen a closed species that really satisfied me. And, I agree with your other point - you could have the skills of someone who's just starting off art class in middle school and people will somehow pay you big as long as your closed species is - like you said - popular.

ver hear of waterdogs and dainties? Waterdogs are just dogs with torsos made of water and dainties are satyrs with decorated legs. Make anything similar, even just a satyr, and you will have some exceptional moron reeing at you for making a fake dainty even though it's a satyr.
yeah i remember the waterdog hype. are they still a thing?

They are still around. Most of the community has died down but you can find the occasional auction going around and there's still people who either have enough money or make enough to bid it up. The new species to take waterdogs place I would say is Chimerons which became popular by a meme animator who made the species after making her main character. They're basically chameleons who can furry, buggy, fishy, or avian like depending on rarity. That one is funny since it used to be semi open, where you could make a common Chimeron for free. Now Groundlion (The animator and owner of the species) has made them closed and you either need to buy one in Auctions which someone will id 50$ instantly even when the SB is 20$ or be lucky enough to win the raffle to buy a myo slot.

People see others making money off of designs, not even closed species, and they notice how well they do. Originality is dead and most of these people don't know it. So, They take aspects of various things mash it together and write loose lore about it. It then becomes super new and exciting. Personally the only species I've seen that I like are Gastrosnaps which one could argue are a rip off of Leech Monsters.

yeah, seelnose is pretty popular on twitter. it’s funny because i recall seeing some drama around her back when she was mostly on FA. of course it’s been years so i couldn’t tell you exactly what it was.

Honestly, at this point, I will literally waste my own money to buy off a closed species that has at least the littlest bit of originality and creativity, cause I'm God-well annoyed of seeing species mashed up together and people are calling it 'original'. Plus, what's with the lore? Why you need lore of a species anyway?

Fucking ninja'd.
Yeah, supposedly she's been wanting to do it for a while. It first came about because she was afraid of knock offs

Never thought I would see the day, but apparently the muzzle rings that they now get aren't "true muzzle rings", so this means they still can't have all the special/donut steel features Telephone has.
At least people won't get harassed for having a muzzle ring anymore.

There will always be that one exceptional ass kisser who will say it's unoriginal and get up someone's ass about it. I also get the feelings mods will still say and encourage to stray from muzzle ring designs.

In all honesty if you wanted to make a 'paradise' one of these things give it a halo horn (The horns connect), a muzzle ring, and make the color scheme white, gold, and light blue. Congrats you've made a more original Dutchie that looks closer to the gods than brown and white Telephone.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit if the mods were still bitchy about people having muzzle rings on their DADs. Hell, it wouldn't even surprise me if Ino herself told someone directly that their character couldn't have a muzzle ring (even if they said it was the false one).
It wouldn't surprise me if muzzle rings get banned again, since Ino will think everyone's trying to steal her "unique" and "original" dragon character.

wow it looks like the one i made years ago can actual look like a pigeon, since he was modeled after a certain type.

only if i cared enough. i’m surprised she caved in about it. although i’m waiting for her to have another change of heart and have a melt down that everyone is stealing her super original design.

It's only a matter of time. I give it four months to two years, since I do think that Ino believes that anyone with a muzzle ring on their DAD is trying to steal Telephone's look (even if their design is far more different, unlike the dutch angel dragon in the image below, which is almost a carbon copy of telephone).
