Let's Make A Rogue Trader House (using the lifepath from Into The Storm)

If we end up with a Kroot instead of an Ork or Dark Eldar I will be sorely disappointed. Everyone plays Kroot.

Reposting origin path on the new page.

I've never played in a group that used a Dark Eldar.

Got my current origin path.
Deathworld, Fringe Survivor (With Survivalist), Hunter, Darkness, Fortune, Arch-Militant, and A Proud Tradition. I don't really know how complete that is though.

Cool. For hunter you need to pick either Bounty Hunter, Xenos Hunter or Hunted (i.e. others hunted you).

For Darkness you pick Forbidden Knowledge (you're versed in a subject Man Was Not Meant To Know(TM) (or maybe just that the Inquisition doesn't want you to know)), Warp Incursion (you were on a ship when the Geller field failed and daemons attacked while at warp), Dark Secret (you have a secret that could ruin you if it got out)

For A Proud Tradition you pick Heir Apparent (you were always meant to inherit the legacy of your family), Uncertain Inheritance (you warred with your siblings over your inheritance) or Shameful Offspring (you're the exception to the proud tradition)

The others don't have sub-choices. I will also point out that you can take any lineage because it doesn't need to line up with the rest of your path. You can also opt not to take one (they cost starting XP).

Here's the rules for them. Courtesy of the Russians.

Thanks but I have physical copies of every Rogue Trader book.

Alright, thanks! I don't think I'll take a lineage.
So, I grew up on a Deathworld overrun with Orks. I became a Bounty Hunter, and ran with a pack of Ork mercenaries. In the process, I acquired Forbiddened Knowlage of Xenos Species (Specifically Ork), and went native to an extent. I acquired a Trukk and spend my days running through the wasteland, getting drunk, blowing away assholes, getting even more drunk, blowing away road signs, blowing up random stuff, fighting, shooting random stuff, and blowing up more stuff.

And here come the more jokey part of my backstory, feel free to override if not serious enough.
But then calamity! I had made a crude replica of a human scrotum and placed it on the back of my Trukk for shits and giggles. And some bastard had the gall to steal them! My Trukk had been rendered impotent! This would not stand! Now, a lesser man may have thought that the plastic bumper ordimant simply fell off the back of the Trukk. But I knew that that was not the case. Someone had purposely struck me in my weak spot, my Trukk. For weeks I soured the planets surface on the hunt for my "Trukk Nutz", interrogating countless people. Of course, I blew up my Trukk two days after the theft because I got drunk and though it would be funny to shoot at it, but never the less, this was a moral crusade! Finally, I deduced that the rogue who had absconded with my plastic genitalia had obviously fled the planet. And so, I left the baked hellhole I was born in, and ventured off into the void in search of my novelty item. Of course, my main motive was soon changed to acquiring wealth, because have you seen how expensive a spaceship is? So my grand fantasy of revenge was quickly replaced by a new grand fantasy of making a ton of cash and having the best weapons a man could buy. A goal that's gotten me a job as an Arch-Militant. But in the back of my mind, I know that somewhere out there is the thief who robbed my of my Trukk ordimant. And that thief shall not escape justice.
I'll get to that as soon as I can afford enough Dakka to take out a whole conspiracy of Trukk Defilers. Which, by my estimates, is a lot. So Justice will be served, I will be rich and powerful, and I will finish the Grand Conspiracy Of Trukk Defilers!

Okay so Death World gives you +5 Strength, +5 Toughness, -5 Willpower, -5 Fellowship, the Survival skill, the choice of either the Jaded or Resistance (Poisons) talents, the Melee Weapon Training (Primitive) talent, a -10 penalty to interaction skill tests in formal surroundings, +10 bonus to any test to resist Pinning or Shock, 1d5+2 plus double your Toughness bonus in starting wounds, and you'll need to roll 1d10 to determine fate points.

Survivalist costs you 300 XP and gives the choice of +3 Toughness or +3 Perception. You also gain the Survival skill (giving you Survival +10 because you already possess it. You also gain an extra fate point and 1d5+1 insanity points. That's right, Rogue Trader has CoC style insanity.

Bounty Hunter costs 250 XP and gives +3 Willpower, +3 Fellowship and the bloodtracker talent. You also gain 1d5 insanity or 1d5 corruption.

Forbidden Knowledge costs 200 XP and gives you Forbidden Lore (Xenos) and any Common Lore (scroll down) of your choice. You also gain the Paranoia talent and the Enemy talent. Your enemy is the mysterious nut thief. Presumably you're more involved now in your Rogue Tradering duties but the Trukk Nutz are still lurking at the back of your mind. The back of your mind. Let's not get one-note with it.

Fortune is free and gives you an extra fate point. Clearly your character enjoys the favor of the Emperor, somehow. You can use fate points to escape death and otherwise do hero point type stuff.

You'll also need to roll stats for any of this to matter. That's 2d10 nine times. It's always straight down in RT because of how things are balanced, but your origin path modifies your stats to be more in line with your image of the character. You can also reroll entirely if you dislike what you got, so you shouldn't get stuck with anything completely unusable.

Normally characters start with 500 XP but I like to start them with 1000 so that you're not limited in your origin path choices. That means you have 250 left. You should generate your stats and then I'll help you spend the rest (you can also save it).

I edited my post a bunch of times because I doubted myself, looked up incorrect information and edited, checked again in the actual book and edited it back. It's nine times. You roll 2d10 for stats nine times.

Do we get the usual +25 bonus?

I'll take green as my color.
Normally I'd take the holy warrior type character and burn people but lets do something different.

Alright Penal World, either Savant, or a rogue version of In Service to the Throne (Tithe,) I can't make up my mind,
New Horizons (seeker of truth), High Vendetta, Knowledge (knowledge is power guard it well), Seneschal, Jump to Proud Tradition (uncertain inheritance).

Since I picked High Vendetta and therefore Brook no insult, does it mean I'm going to be stuck getting into fist fights because someone called my Captain an idiot? I understand that I'm not going to let insults stand but my retribution doesn't have to be immediate or vocal does it? I'm more the type to calmly organize your downfall and the deaths of your family rather than challenge you to pistols at dawn.

Basic synopsis.
Born to a powerful mob boss on a penal world, used his contacts and knowledge to guile his way off planet and escape the in fighting to be the boss's heir. Was always interested in learning just about anything from how to kill a man with a shiv to trade law. He enjoys the details of keeping the house running and is fiercely loyal to the house and captain. Has no moral compass and will do what he deems necessary to serve the interest of the house. He keeps things running smoothly and takes pride knowing he is the only one on the ship keeping things between ordered chaos and utter destruction. He is normally behind his desk organizing affairs or at the captain's side doing the same. A very dry character with a wealth of knowledge, seedy contacts, and cognitive reasoning.

Yep everything is standard unless otherwise noted, I was just listing the part you have to roll. I was going to get the rolls and then give him his totals (with bonuses and everything).

Absolutely. You can't let an insult stand unavenged, but revenge is a dish best served cold.

Not done yet, I'll finish this up a little later.

You also get all your Arch Militant stuff, which is:

Skills: Common Lore (War), Dodge, Intimidate, Scholastic Lore (Tactica Imperialis), Secret Tongue (Military), Speak Language (Low Gothic)
Talents: Basic Weapon Training (Universal), Pistol Weapon Training (Universal), Melee Weapon Training (Universal), Thrown Weapon Training (Universal), Sound Constitution.

Starting Gear: Good Craftsmanship Hellgun or Best Craftsmanship Hunting Rifle, or two bolt pistols, plus one good craftsmanship melee weapon of choice with mono upgrade. Micro-bead, void suit, enforcer light carapace, keepsake, medikit, manacles, Data-slate of bounties or 3 doses of stimm.

I'd go with the Hellgun and maybe a monosword.

Also you have Survival +10, not just survival. You're "talented" at Survival.

Alright so I decided on in Service to the Throne, Tithe and picked for the common lore skill: Administratum and my two skills/talents are literacy unless I already have that in which case I'll take tech use and pistol weapon training.
Does SP mean slug pistol? And what do you recommend for what type of pistol training I should take?

SP is a slug thrower. You should get pistol weapon training universal from your career don't you? On phone so can't check at the moment. You should also get literacy free from your career I think. Wish I was more help but I can look this up later today.

That's fine. I was having trouble finding information but I found it. Alright so I do get literacy and basic weapon and pistol training. So my tithed skills will be tech use and medicae.

Ok, looking up the Rogue Trader books, lets see if I can figure this out.
