It was a busy day. I ended up with a tl;dr post despite trying to weed it down.
Not to downplay the end result, but I doubt they have put that much thought into it. Monica, Ron and Jaimie at least come across as extremely vapid and stupid. I don't think they thought out exactly what utterly destroying a man's life and work might lead to; they just wanted him out and their Mean Girl high school clique friends in, and they didn't care much how that happened.
Like Vic said, if they're accidentally endangering his life, it's because they don't know him after twenty years. And that is incredibly sad and disgusting on it's own, because they're still some kind of sociopathic even then, pretending to be his friend for decades.
The saddest part about all of this? They could've succeeded. The only reason they didn't was because of their stupidity. They could've realistically kicked Vic out of the industry, and the only reason anyone knows their bullshit is because they were airing it for everyone to see. I guess we'll never know what would've happened if they kept their mouths shut, but the fact that they had even a .01% of success says a lot about how society currently is.
And the worst part? As much as I would like for this case to be the impetus of change, most likely other scumbags are going to see this case and learn from it. Learn what not to do to destroy a person. And that's just sickening.
If they indeed maliciously wanted to destroy him, then turning his fans against him is actually a critical part of that, and dismissing him quietly won't work. If they actually wanted him destroyed so he wouldn't try to come back ever/fight back, or worse wanted him to kill himself to get out of their hair (like JW and the RT guy) then they didn't have any recourse. What's dumb is that they didn't back off when that failed.
Where'd that thought come from? Gay conversion?
Republicans/conservatives must all be for conversion camps, doubly so if they indicate support for Trump/Pence. By virtue of them being evil.
Now Shane is trying to pretend he knows who the leaker is by using fake a code name.

I'm like 80% sure he just picked a random letter and thinks it's cool. Otherwise he'd have said something less specific or not in public.

Greedy? They tried to destroy his life, moron.
Teenagers have a falsely inflated concept of what a million dollars look like.

To the surprise of no one, Resetera is filled with misinformed and exceptional individuals. I don't believe I've seen a civil suite that asks for monetary damages not ask for punitive damages. That 1+ mil is the amount that Vic lost out on.
I'm more offended that person is implying Brienne of Tarth, who wants to add Jaime's jewels to her family's metaphorical sapphires, is gay.

At least she didn't say 2%, or 'less than 1%'.

Oh totally, Marchi. You have
no idea.
Also probably nothing, but I find this
interesting nonetheless.

I really hate when people who aren't Christian, or who actively look down on or disdain Christianity, try to make social commentary about it. It's true of really any religion. You look like a fool for presuming you know what you're talking about if you're not either a theologian or practicing that religion, and it's
always rude.
Man that Penguin Truth guy is firing off on all platforms about Vic except on Twitter he fired off about Ty Bread and Nick too.

There's tons more tweets that just repeat the same thing so I won't be including them.
Something sad is this guy has a Patreon that makes $0 a month and a youtube channel that no one watches:

At least he didn't say 'the legal definition of rape culture'. Even an idiotic twitter penguin desperate for attention is smarter than Monica Rial about his defamatory statements. He can pat himself on the back about that while he's publicly embarrassed by reality.
See, the smartest little sparkler here is trying to argue 'you don't need to prove sexual assault to beat defamation', because in a vacuum that's true. 'Prove sexual assault' is not a part of 'beating defamation'. Unless the defamation
is about sexual assault. Then you have to prove what you said are facts. Which, coincidentally in this case, means proving sexual assault. Because Monica and Ron are dumb and chose that as the hill they want to die on.
CanipaEffect is a spaz. He makes videos on YouTube and articles for ANN about how CG anime is good for the industry and Japan needing to hire more women directors so it's a 50/50 ratio and be more progressive.
He's so disingenuous and clearly not a lawyer.
That's just awful. Awful. Putting aside that there's not enough Japanese women
interested in being directors to be 50/50 even if the literal requirement to hire one is 'be female and want to be one', CG in anime is just awful. I know there's plenty of anime that actually handle it pretty well, but...eh. More often it's terrible because animators are either cheap, lazy, or pressed for time. And I'm kind of old fashioned on the matter. If I can recognize it's CG - even if it's good - I don't like it. Mixing mediums breaks my sense of disbelief 99% of the time, and the 1% it doesn't is called 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit'.
