This Matt guy is a fucking moron. And not the regular kind of moron, but the barely functional kind of moron. There's a post later where he says something like "if she's right (and I believe she is) then it was good to warn potential buyers" which is one of the most stupid fucking things I've ever read and actually got me a bit mad on the internet. "She" isn't right. There's no scenario where "she" is right. Even if "she" lucked out and the japanese lady is actually saying retarded, which is absolutely positively 100% not happening, "she" is not right because the entire article is based on what "she" heard. There's a reason why misheard lyrics videos or stuff like that are really popular, it's really common to mix up some words and it's funny when it happens. You can't base anything on that and do 0 research and call it a day.

Even if the results turned out to be what "she" was expecting, the process was wrong. And I love the verified mongoloid mocking the other users for not being journalists. Guess what, some of them probably are. I'm a fucking journalist myself. It happens, don't assume shit, which is an advice that more of his colleagues should follow so "game journalist" wouldn't be such a derogatory term. You can call everyone who dunks on you a nazi, but it still doesn't change the fact that you have earned that contempt.

For the record, the rest of the internet isn't having any of Kotaku's shit and has been lambasting the article all night. Even some of the actors for the Persona 5 dub have commented on the article. What the Era people are ignoring about the article is that it carries a mocking undertone of "Ha ha, this silly Japanese person tried to sing English," which to a lot of people is kinda racist (something I'm inclined to believe given how often game journos tend to overlook Japanese gaming if it's not Nintendo).

Kotaku's also getting ire for a few other unrelated things around the article. For example, they published it without giving Atlus USA time to respond, which is something that they'd condemned Bioware for doing when they released a press statement about Kotaku's massive article detailing Anthem's development. They're also refusing to just delete the article or edit it to admit they were wrong, saying that there's server issues at the moment (read: they're keeping the article up as it gets controversy clicks).

Either way, Laura is "taking a break" from Twitter after she got ratio'd like six times in one night.

That's despicable even by Kotaku standards. I'd like to see some of these retraction statutes for libel have another feature where if they monetize defamatory shit and refuse to take it down, and ultimately retract it, the retraction doesn't count for damages avoidance unless they cough up every penny they made on their clickbaiting to the victim.

It's pretty obvious as to why Kotaku and the other shit websites hire people like Laura. For the clicks, get the money, get the clicks, rinse and repeat until someone does a big booboo (like just now), and then throw them under the bus. The article isn't changed so it can generate clicks, simple as that.
