At the very least, Sony's "Executive Director of Employee Relations" informed him that he was terminated following her investigation. I take that as "Sony fired him" but I guess it can be read as "Funimation fired him and was so dysfunctional at this point that Sony had to be the one that told him."

It makes PERFECT sense when you realize they are being disingenuous. They don't WANT Vic to come back. They didn't EXPECT Vic to come back. That advice was designed to sound good and be self serving. If Vic had taken it, they would have shored up the narrative with more whisper network bullshit and he would have never been able to find work again.

So a question for @AnOminous or anyone else.

I know in defamation that all the plaintiff has to do to prove defamation is to make a sworn statement that he did not do what the defendant claimed he did. Is there a statute or precedent or whatever linked for that specific facet of the defamation process?

Basically it's not relevant to their defamation or tortious interference. They can't try and flip the trial from a civil tort case with vic as the plaintiff into a criminal sexual assault case with him as the defendant, that's just not how it works.
