There are, I think four surgeons in the US who do SRS that are also trained in microsurgery that could experimentally reconnect the nerves in the toe tissue to the dorsal nerve. It would be an insanely complicated procedure so I'm sure it didn't happen, and they just told him that so he'd feel fine about it.

I kind of believe it, she makes comments about being mentally ill and a tendency to overreact. I don't think a troll would give ammo like that to discredit themselves.
edit: one common theme I've noticed in shit-that-didn't-happen stories written by women is that they always make themselves passive participants another character would have to drive the plot forward. Also the story is written in the snarky tone with dumb nicknames and the antagonist is over the top insane and stupid.
