I'm still iffy on when and why the burden of proof shifts from the plaintiff to the defendants in this particular case. Is it a Texas thing and/or does it have to do with the specific charges being brought against them? Or is it something else entirely? I feel like I get the general idea as to why the defendants have to prove their accusations are true, but I couldn't explain it to someone in legal terms if I had to.

Suppose I make a public claim that you're a pedophile and say that I will stand by that claim as true because I have proof. If you take me to court, you would make a sworn statement that you aren't a pedophile. Naturally the onus should fall on the person making the claim to prove that it is true.

It would be otherwise impossible for you to prove that you aren't a pedophile unless you want to get testimony from everyone in the world that you did not molest them as a child, get your entire internet history in order to show that you've never looked at anything that might make you a pedophile, etc.

Could you definitely prove that you aren't a murderer? How would you even go about doing that? Suppose you claim that you haven't been arrested for murder. What's to stop the person accusing you from claiming that's just because the police haven't caught you yet?

Lol, i'm glad they can't even find anything to actually insult me with. Thanks for sharing. I'm honestly blown away by how pathetic they are. No wonder the site is dying, they can't even update the site (they promised a new banner like 2 years ago). Oh well, no loss for me. Viz, Sentai, and Aniplex have kept their mouths shut from this whole debacle. All three are just doing business as usual. Viz does have extra protection since they are owned by Shueisha and have the license for the Dragon Ball manga. If on the odd chance that Funimation goes tits up, either Viz or Aniplex would get the anime.

iirc Viz also came out and said they believed in innocent until proven guilty and would continue to employ Vic (maybe Todd too), until evidence to support the allegations were produced. This was early on, and i wasn't on KF at the time so I don't know if it was archived.

I'm still parsing the stream and damn, is Perfection pathetic. He was charged with assaulting a 13 year old girl (i.e. its not specified what assault was in this case). The only reason he isn't in jail is because the girl never showed up for the trial. He also compared himself to Vic because in his eyes he's being wrongfully accused of something (even though MBA has supplied a shit ton of info on him. Heck, I think the farms should recruit him for gay ops lol). IMO I think there needs to be a lolcow thread or something to oust this guy

I think you're severely overestimating the scope and impact of this lawsuit. At most it's going to ruin Funimation, Rooster Teeth and some irrelevant online rags, maybe it'll damage Sony a bit, or accidentally sink Teamfourstar as collateral damage. There's no reason Viz or Sentai would be damaged, and it's unlikely the shock waves will affect Aniplex in any significant way. I've speculated that this could do damage to the dubbing industry if the worst happens, because Funimation is so influential, but it's not going to totally wreck it.

And Twitter is...not even remotely involved. Nor are western cartoons, except via RT. Reel in your expectations a bit. And this first round of lawsuits will still last for months to a year if no one settles. On the bright side though, last I heard someone else is suing Twitter, and western cartoons are even more dysfunctional and broken behind the scenes than Funimation. So...I mean...eventually? If that's what you're hoping for.

I ain't saying it wouldn't happen. But the domino effect has proven otherwise. It just happens and can't be stopped. It's random. Would this affect everything outside anime? Maybe not. But my comment wasn't an "I hope this shit finally dies so I can fap to hentai in subs" it's more "Will this be an impact to stopping the bullshit from grown ass children?" unlikely but life is fucking weird that way and I wanna watch from behind the scenes what happens next. This lawsuit is a first of its kind at least from someone who got screwed from former friends and workers. I also heard Vic tried to end his life from the Livestreams of some YouTubers which sounds fucked up if that was their plan from the get-go. I mean you can get the man fired but getting him to be an hero and still pretend to be his friend is like some messed up episode of a cartoon man.

I just wanna wait before I hold my judgment on the case.

You know, Geekdom101 is kind of growing on me for how be handled all of this. I kind of don't think he really is on anyone's side but he certainly has been way more professional in public than all of these clowns have been. Not gonna be watching his YouTube or anything but I honestly think he just got thrown into this simply by having connections. I'm not expert and I don't stalk people but that is what it looks like to me.

Also, I'm not expecting to see much more MoRon tweets since they'll be busy trying to dig through Twitter deleting all of this and collecting all of their email and texts from the past 4 years which seeing how much they gossip I imagine will be a hella expensive bill.
