An observable phenomenon: Scumbag thug is trying to find an excuse for his or her aggression and has been chest thumping, cursing and generally acting the fool in the hopes someone will take the bait. Someone on the sidelines says, "Your mother would be so ashamed of you."
Scumbag thug starts yelling, "What did you say about my mom? No one talks about my mom! She's a saint, don't you fucking drag my mom into this," and then takes a swing because he's too stupid to understand no one was criticizing his mother or he's just so aggressive he's looking for an excuse and knows full well he was the one being criticized, not his mother. Either way, he's fighting someone who in a sense praised his mother because they insinuated she was not the sort to beget a stupid, violent child.
Marina showed us a variation of this. She and her children were spoken of kindly, mentioning that Marina herself sounded normal and that perhaps her kids had posted the sweet, concerned entry about self-harm on that Tumblr account. All positive, all kind, all the sorts of comments any decent mother would like venomous strangers like us to think about her kids, that they are open, sensitive and forgiving children worried about their batshit bugfuck aunt. Yet all Marina saw was her kids were mentioned on a site she doesn't understand and that was a bridge too far, for strangers to be speaking kindly of her kids.
Kelly is a keen manipulator. She knows Marina's intellectual level far better than Marina probably knows. So she gets her riled up with out-of-context screen shots, hits the scumbag thug talking points of "what did you say about muh kids, leave muh kids out of it, don't come for muh kids," and turns her loose. Well done, Marina. Be sure to congratulate Kelly on playing you so well. But on the bright side, while Marina was over here chest-thumping, Kelly was distracted for a few hours and didn't introduce feces or Draino into her legs or try to poison her cat. Win-win?
It's no longer any mystery how Kelly came to be the way she is. What a parcel of low IQ and even lower EQ idiots. And frankly she's the smartest one in the bunch because she knows how to push buttons and has the capacity to manipulate even those who should by now know better.
