I think Chris will fail to even process the data in that way. All it will do is strengthen his resolve to get his bans overturned as soon as he's let out and failing that, he'll just barge his way in and do stuff anyway. He's been fanatical about trying to find a girl to bang out Crystal for years. This jihad he has against the blue armed monstrosity will burn on forever.
Well you never know with Chris, but unless it was coincidental, he did lay low for a good amount of time after his last brush with the law. Chris is dumb and entitled, but he's also a massive pussy, if common sense doesn't stop him doing dumb shit, fear will.

Also, I think it's a very safe bet that Barb will severely shorten his leash after this. The move to the rental home seems to have coincided with increased freedom for Chris, I'm pretty confident he can wave goodbye to that now.

Here's how things will probably work for Chris over the next couple days. This is from personal experience with my family dealing with a crazy guy who has prior assault and trespassing charges.
  • Chris will be held until Monday. It is incredibly rare for a Judge to come in on a weekend, and it is unheard of if it's for someone like Chris if he isn't their blood relative.
  • A judgement will be made Monday concerning Chris's eligibility for bail. That it is being done by video means that they consider him a danger and/or a courtroom disruption. Considering Chris has priors this may be the beginning of his downfall.
  • The pepper spray WILL be the big problem for Chris since my girlfriend, using hers to defend herself, was still detained for 3 hours while her attacker attempted to press charges against her for assault. Pepper spray is taken VERY seriously.
  • Even if the judge sets bail it is doubtful that Barb will be able to pay it considering she is on fixed income and his Tugboat may have suddenly sprung a leak.

Could the video court be due to this being the Xmas/New Year period and most staff being on leave?

So...Here's what's going to happen: Chris is going to prison for numerous charges. Assault and battery with a caustic material (pepper spray) is a felony with a minimum of 5 years in a state correctional facility (http://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp504.exe?000+cod+18.2-52). Then there is vandalism which is likely less than $1,000 in value, so he'll be charged with a misdemeanor. If it somehow is MORE than $1,000 - which could possibly happen if he used spray paint and damaged the game cases, display cases, etc - is another felony punishable with a minimum of one year in prison. (http://www.criminalpropertydamage.com/virginia/). He will also likely have a third degree criminal mischief charge from Gamestop (http://definitions.uslegal.com/c/criminal-mischief/), a class E felony.

This is before any civil cases can be brought up against him (possibly by the employee and definitely by Gamestop).

This will take some really fancy lawyering by Rob Bell to get the hell out of this one.

Barb wouldn't put up the place that hosts the all-mighty Hoard for the sake of her deadbeat son..why risk the entire hoard to get one smaller part of it back a little quicker?
Barb couldn't unload the house in the early 90's when there was a housing boom. No way is she going to sell that charred outhouse in today's market.

Its not like she is guaranteed to lose the house. All chris has to do is show up for his court date and thier house is off the hook. Trust me should would make sure her idiot son would be at court bright and early to protect the house.

See, I would LOOOVE to have Chris' side of the story before he finds out people have the video. If it's anything like the Target arrest or Mike Snyder arrest, he'll paint a picture where he's the innocent victim, bullied by some "dumb male" employee as he was already leaving the store, then "slammed to the ground" by some jerkops.
This is the first time that we have empirical evidence that he was not the victim. I wonder if that will change his story at all?
If you showed Chris the video and asked him to explain it, he would point at it and go "See! Look at that JERK assault me! I had to defend myself!!" and he would mean it.

No, it's probably standard for arraignments in the county.
So, male or female prison?
Protective custody or solitary just to avoid the inevitable lawsuits that happen when you incarcerate someone who's transgender.

Just a quick bit of internet lawyering. Much the same way that jail and prison are not synonyms, but two distinct items. Bail and bond are two distinct items.

Bail is where you give cash as assurance that you will return for trial. You get that back at the end, guilty or not, so long as you show.
Bond is where you DON'T have cash and instead contact a bondsman who, for 10% of the bail that they keep (they get the whole bail back) ensure you show up. That's what Dog The Bounty Hunter did, other than meth and racism.

Even if Chris and Barb can't post bail, they can probably get a bail bondsman to spring him.

I can't confirm this, but my understanding is that it's sometimes done with arraignments because it's substantially cheaper than busing the inmates to court for something that individually takes them all of five minutes. And honestly you don't need to be physically present for an arraignment. There's some argument that it may be safer, but I think the only real "safety" factor is that fewer bus trips means fewer chances for a road accident resulting in fake whiplash claims by inmates.
They do video arraignments when you are crazy or dangerous and can't be brought into a courtroom. He's probably strapped to a bed right now.

EDIT: Ah, for the disagreeing folks, I'm dead serious. If you can't behave yourself in the courtroom they do video arraignments for that sometimes. Look it up.

She wouldn't sell the house. Most like scenario is Barb is forced to used her house as collateral for a (very) high interest loan.
If this loan can not be repaid (and it probably can't), then it's possible the bank would take her house.
