It's not hard to tell just by watching his chat and talking to people, as has been discussed to death over the past few days in this and other threads.

A lot of people are under the impression that his money only comes from whales and some "cult" that he has. No, he has a handful of genuine "fans" and the rest is people trying to bait him, buy protection, or troll the trolls/try to get people banned. You've got the edge cases like vote democrat where it's to the point that they're giving DSP way too much money, but the majority of people are just there for the sideshow.

If I gave enough of a shit, I could restream and easily point it out since nobody else does (that doesn't generate TTS donos), but I can't be assed. There's a metric fuck ton of misinformation that gets floated around restreams.

Please make better usage of your money. Give it to Foodlink, cancer research, HIV research, Diabetes research, United Way, literally any charity that helps people.

I really don't want to get in the debate of what is the intrinsic value of $20 worth of bits to each individuals on these forums but for some people, $20 is considered pissing money. And for some, spending $20 to make their favorite monkey dance is their preferred form of entertainment.

I don't like DSP as much as the other guy, but I never understood the ones who are waiting with breath abated to see the guy miserably fail so they can get their 5 minutes of entertainment then move on and never come back to these forums. There is this weird dichotomy between those who say we shouldn't give Phil a penny and those who are okay with trolls throwing bits at him for entertainment. The former group fails to realize that the moment the autism show stops, there's nothing to laugh at anymore. Sure, we're all waiting for the YT video titled "Guys... this is it. Streaming/ YT is over! 10 year legacy gone!" but are we really? Do people really want the reality shitshow that is DSP to end permanently? Like it or not, a community of detractors has been built around this guy and it's genuine good, fun. If the trolls go away, so does DSP.

I thought the whole point of lolcows was to milk them as long as possible to get the most value-added entertainment as possible.

I much prefer the trolls who throw a few bits here and there and bait phil than the ones who come in his chat with handles such "DSPscammedyou14" typing genius one liners such as "e-beggar" then getting insta-banned.

I'm not going to say no to free entertainment.

I know of some that stream on Twitch or have YT channels that are actually jealous that he gets as much as he does and think he's living some life of extravagance and that they wish they had half as much of a viewerbase as he does and they think they deserve it more.

There's also jealousy from people who don't have much in the way of life prospects that wish they could make around 100k just sperging out at videogames, and they'd probably take all of DSP's negatives with it. I personally don't give a shit what happens -- he's the only lolcow I follow and it's only because I knew him from the CT FGC before he even started doing YT shit, so I've got a different sort of interest (and it's also why I hate misinformation -- I really have no motive to be involved at all).

But there's a lot of people who hate him and want to see him fail because they wish they had his audience.

Jealous... of DSP? Fuck man, there are so many more people to be jealous from.

What is there to be jealous of? Failing "career." Failing prospects in life. Failing marriage. Failing health. Failing finances. Failing everything pretty much.

Are people really that jealous that some loser gets to spend his days playing games and they're not? Streaming has always been a weird "career" choice for me. Unless you make it as one of the big ones, it'll never be sustainable in terms of financial stability (as we've seen with Phil) and if you don't branch yourself out into some form of broadcasting/ media job, you just wasted years of your life by doing an activity that you should never, ever put on your resume.

There's so much more to life than sitting at home playing games in front of a $99 webcam. Holy shit guys, if you're jealous at DSP because he gets the "chance" to do what he does, challenge yourself and start putting yourself in uncomfortable situations so you can experience life and find out that there are so many ways to challenge yourself and accomplish activities that will be fulfilling in life.

I don't know where you get this notion. Many 'detractors' are of DSPs own making, plus many just want him to stop being able to scam people on a daily basis while lying constantly and being toxic. For me personally I have seen friends banned from Twitch for nothing but DSP constantly breaks TOS, scams and manipulates vulnerable people and acts like a toxic piece of shit generally.
I don't want to see him hurt but do want to see him struggle as basic karma for what he's done to many others. Of course karma doesn't always come, but I feel like DSP is really close to falling within the next few years. Of course people can be jealous of people like DSP being at the size of audience he is at because imo he doesn't deserve it. He treats his fans like idiots, bans supportive people when he turns on them and lies and contradicts himself to milk his viewers. The constant begging also... he's just bad content and atmospheres and how not to stream 101. It's funny to join in with others who meme him and observe him critically because imo it's justified. Some lolcows don't deserve it, but DSP deserves every negative back because all he gives out is negativity.

I won't claim to speak for anyone else, but for DSP to "fail", to me, means that he has to finally eat all that humble pie that's been building up. I don't want him homeless or dead or some ridiculous shit like that. I want him humbled, living within his means, and having to work an actual job instead of sit on his ass for 6 hours a day and bitch about how trying his life is and how he's a "mature intelligent adult" and anyone who dares disagree with him is ahbviously an immature child.

At the end of the day, my personal beef with Phil is how garbage a person he is. He has an unwarranted arrogance and ego, and he very plainly expects to make $100k+ a year simply for showing up. He makes no effort to expand his skillset--he doesn't edit, he doesn't network, he doesn't try anything new unless his fans berate him for months and he sees a noticeable drop in money. If he ever actually got his shit together, stopped acting like a smug know-it-all asshole, and accepted that he's not some incredible streaming personality with amazing insight, I would be all for it and give genuine congratulations.

But we all know that there's basically 0% chance of that happening. He's 37 and just pulled a secret in-his-parents'-house wedding to someone who cheated on her ex before he paid to fly her out multiple times, and he doesn't seem to have any understanding of why some people are pissed that he was begging for $5k right before doing that. His literal stated grand plan is to purposefully drive a foreclosure, simply not pay his debts, and obstinately fight to stay in an over-sized middle-unit condo.

That's not exclusive to DSP, though, it applies to basically all their partners and people who bring in money.

That's like if someone has the means to hire a really good financial adviser who can move their money around, put it in places, and pay less in taxes on their income because they're doing it. Someone says you're jealous they have the money to do it, and you say you're not, you're angry/jealous that they can hire someone to exploit tax laws for them while you can't.

You're talking about the same thing at the end of the day, you're just disguising it with semantics. I'm not gonna argue about this anymore when people keep wondering who could be jealous of Dave, but then give a reason for it in their next breath. I don't think Vote_Democrat is a troll, they're just a passerby with a need to see their name on screen who thinks themselves clever. They're my least favorite kind of cheerer. Back in the days he used to give away those empty game cases to the fans, but he stopped doing those too because he doesnt want to pay for shipping and he buys ecopies
