- This is just a random note, but FEMEN (topless as always) ganged up on Vladimir Putin in protest of his policies. Hilariously, he just smiled at the naked women and later said that he "liked it" and wished that his security guards had been more gentle with the protesters.
Eh I don't know about that, a lot of the more crazier otherkin types might not get power but I've started to see some of the privilege checkers, third wave patriarchy conspiracy theorists and the gender pronoun brigade get traction with the academia (who created this mess to begin with) and the more extremist left wing liberals who are willing to support anything so long as they get points for helping the poor downtrodden genderfluid transracial mayonnaise-kin that struggles everyday against oppression.
If you ask the more pessimistic me, the American left is on a trip to becoming like Sweden, sure the extremely crazy ones may get ignored but some of them are going to more clout due to their ironic use of shaming tactics of "If you're not with us, then you're racist/misogynist/rightist/homophobic/transphobic shitlord" which will force people into supporting them out of fear or maybe the more cynical Liberals will try to exploit them by catering to them, making their delusions reality so they may get their votes.
But the more optimistic part of me hopes this will phase out someday, because unlike a few months ago I'm starting to see at least some of the general internet using public actually starting to talking about SJWs and how terrible they truly are, so that at least gives me hope that maybe people will start to laugh at their insane babbling and the SJW hipster generational phase will maybe die out, but I can tell you that probably won't be for a long time.
Eh. Not the end of the world to me.
Here's the thing. Maybe I'm being optimistic, and I know everyone wouldn't agree with me, but I like to view the process of becoming mainstream as something of a filter. Pronouns? I've seen them in a few places, but I really don't care about using Pronouns (Unless we get into Diety/Demonkin and that is one area where, I believe, the filtering is working.) as long as it is made clear what pronoun the person would like used.
Privilege Checking Police? I
rarely hear about them outside of college settings. However, that one is a unique one. I think there is still meshing going on there. I've seen some articles/discussions recently about how that stuff has been handled poorly in regards to it's transition to real world thing vs. internet thing, in such a way that it sort of pisses white people who grew up buttfuck poor with parents who beat the shit out of them, just in case, off. As it becomes more mainstream, it will be polished. Though, from a purely strategic/staying power perspective, I think the way it is delivered needs to be refined. Awareness campaigns vs. Mandatory events, because to quote Jon Oliver, when you make things mandatory, people resent it, and when people resent something they fuck with it.
I mean, the parts that are legitimately insane (Like a wonderful article I read about how men denying women sex = oppression) seem to be being filtered out. Even in Sweden, I get the impression that a lot of the more extreme (A school banning the Swedish flag to avoid offending people, men being legally required to pee sitting down) seem to be mocked/not taken seriously.
So I definitely see what you are talking about, but I don't view the things that are coming through as the end of the world. The bits that are seem to be being filtered out in the process.
