Well, the holiday season can be pretty depressing - I think I'm right in saying it's basically the suicide season. Godbear knows Chris has a lot to be depressed about right now. A few people here, myself included, have speculated that the blarms rage is actually Chris' frustrated inability to face up to the realisation that his life is utterly miserable. In other words, my theory is that where some would fall into a black depression or contemplate suicide, Chris' bizarre coping mechanism means that his thought process is "I'm going to be alone forever... better show SEGA that I really mean business!"

Okay, I know this may sound crazy but given the thread...

Do you think that Barbara, if she ends up really alone, in a fit of rage, might start to actually use the internet to "avenge her son"? And thus would start her own crusade against the dang trolls on youtube and facebook because they "took away her son"?

Personally I think its that his classic coping mechanism of throwing itself into his vidya and legos simply isn't cutting it now. His legos supply has dried up along with the eBay cash, and now even Sonic can't protect him from reality anymore because they've changed Sonic so much as to be unrecognisable to Chris. Blue Armed Sonic isn't the Sonic from Chris's childhood so playing Sonic Boom means Chris has to face up to the fact things have changed, and that's the last thing he wants to do

Combine all of that with a life that has taught him if he rages and cries enough people (Borb, teachers, hell even Snyder) will give him what he wants and you get Chris flipping out over Boom merchandise in shops and macing people who try to stop him

I honestly hope that you're wrong about that. Chris has no real idea of what the consequences of his actions are, and he's always gotten away by playing the Autism Card. I'd be foolish to suggest that "maybe jail will teach him a thing or too", but the truth of the matter is that he has gotten away with so much bullshit for so long and believes that he can get away with anything as a result.

...you only get so many do-overs, pal.


On a side note, I bet Anna does nothing to help Chris, and would cheer him on once he gets out as if nothing happened, as usual.

What I mean is, it's not going to be a "holy shit, I have to get my life together" change. Chris in the clank for three days only validates his persecution complex, rather than forcing him to analyze his behavior.

From the University of Virginia's School of Medicine site concerning correctional care:

"Our department provides psychiatric services to the Charlottesville-Albemarle Regional Jail and has been doing so since 2002. About 18% of all jail inmates have a significant mental illness, including substance abuse, mood and anxiety disorders, and even severe psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia, and yet many jails in Virginia provide no specific psychiatric services. The jail environment can be a challenging one, as the clinician has to balance treatment issues with security concerns and has to liaison with correctional staff, community services workers (such as Region Ten Community Services Board), and also with the court system."

For the first time in his life, Chris might have access to professional long term psychological and/or psychiatric care. Of course, there's no guarantee that Chris will respond to treatment(s) if received but it could be a significant opportunity. Anything that puts emotional and physical distance between Barb and Chris is good for Chris' health.

Chris could spend 10 years in supermax, and at no point would he consider that it might be his fault he was there. It would all be part of the big troll conspiracy that he blames all his problems on. And if it wasn't the trolls, it would be someone else; he's been blaming his mistakes on everyone else for a long time now.

Normally I'd say he'd probably get off from this, but considering he has an record, and was convicted, I doubt they'll be all that generous this time around.

I doubt she can learn how to use the internet properly without professional help she can not afford or would not bother with.
