A MeToo makeover for James Bond - "It’s young, it’s fun and it is all about female empowerment"

Watch as the film bombs because people correctly say that Bond becomes OOC.

He becomes that guy from OSW?

Well I guess Danny Boyle told the producers they're being stupid with this and was Lord and Miller'd

And here's me thinking the death knell of the franchise would be the much screamed about black Bond rather than getting rid of Bond completely and sticking in a female 007.

I'm at a loss as to how this works in a practical sense. Bond pretty frequently gets his ass kicked or gets captured and brutally tortured by various villains. Despite their claims of "equality" no way they'll let that happen to a precious female character.

So what fem Bond shows up kicks the villain off a cliff with no effort or drama and then everyone applauds her? How is that fun or interesting?

Phoebe Waller was pretty good in the Amazon series 'Fleabag'. It's about a woman who has been terribly failed by modern feminism & bad parenting and her concordant degeneracy. It's good edgyboi stuff, IMO.
The way they made her that robot in solo tells me that the robot was originally intended to be an SJW parody, then got retooled as something else when the directors changed.
Her whole thing was making fun of current year and cucked guys and what a disgusting empty travesty the life of the 'single empowered woman' can be. I get the feeling that people think she's actually pro socjus.
Fleabag is on amazon video and each episode is 15 minutes. Give it a shot.
I guess we all assumed it was typical socjus stuff but you've got me curious now, I'll check it out.

We're just going to get endless Die Another Days (minus the legit interesting torture plot) aren't we?

Eh, it's the usual suspects (Beeb, Guardian, Mirror) screaming about its genius that put me off.

The "ball torture" scene in Casino Royale is one of the best Bond scenes ever and they couldn't do anything like that with a woman. You couldn't suspend your disbelief when the villain doesn't just rape her.

Who the fuck still watches James Bond? it's 2019 not the 70s.

No, but modernizing an inherently dated concept isn't really a good mix. They did it moderately with Brosnan and while Goldeneye was pretty good it just sort of went downhill from there. An adversarial writer has the potential to bring out new elements of a property but I get the feeling a feminist and James fucking Bond are going to be a bit too adversarial.

This'll be Ghostbusters 2: Electric Boogaloo.

I'm calling it now, the villain of the film will be a Roger Moore expy who is trying to throw the next American election to a clear Trump expy, and there will be multiple scenes of him doing such awful things as looking at his female assistant with lustful thoughts in his heart.
The villain is Freddie Mercury:

Also, I insist: Oscar Isaac would have been an interesting -at least- choice for a Bond villain.

When most of the people involved with making James Bond films don't care anymore, why should I?

All this shit with rebooting established franchises but now with all-female leads is the new "gritty 90s reboot" - shallow, uninspired, and will be just as embarassing to look back on in 10-15 years.

Why you're against it? I'm not trying to antagonize, I just believe it's a reasonable idea to explain several plotholes.

Because you know what Hollywood would do with that concept.

Besides, that would make that terrible 1967 version of Casino Royale canon.
