I was thinking more like not buying the games that offend these idiotsYea you could make a petition those always work.
I know, but again, the issue is that the crazy spergs like Billy D are gonna be the ones MSM is gonna paint as the “Sony detractors”, not the average joe like me who’s decided to just only buy SIE games second-hand in order to not support a scummy companyThere are a lot of easier ways to enact change that don't involve screeching like a monkey on the internet.
No it's not, just silently don't buy the games and they'll change shit. This isn't hard.
Consoletards don't understand how to get their way.
It’s a broader problem than just consoletards, it’s the ignorance of the average consumer. I didn’t buy MK11 because the progression model seemed really scummy and poorly constructed, the average joe however gives zero shits about any of that and just wants to play something relaxing after work.
I looked that “case by case basis” claim, it just sounds like them using a bunch of corporate jargon to sound less awful to the reporter. Also, they said “we want to regulate on a global level”, which sounds like them thinking they can dictate what’s best for a market for them https://twinfinite.net/2019/04/sony-japan-censorship/ http://archive.fo/Y7I9wBy the way it should already be stated that sony is already walking back their policy from "there's strict guidelines" to now "it's a case by case basis and we talk to developers while the process is happening". The policy really didn't have any real teeth to touch the games that people want, Sony just sacrificed some garbage games to gain the favor of Chairman pooh and to maybe buy protections and legal defense from twitter mobs.
Some exceptional individuals think this is a biased attack against japanese games, but if that were true Sony wouldn't be promoting persona 5 like it is. If this were a real and sincere SJW policy it would have already touched shit like Kingdom hearts and shit people want, Woke bullshit goes after shit people want and actually know about, nobody's going to really care about VNs. This doesn't reek of leftism this is more or less something thought up by a legal team talking to a marketing team's middle manager.
Then the suits think you don't want those kinds of games and they stop getting made or published on the system entirely.I was thinking more like not buying the games that offend these idiots
Honestly, there needs to be a mandatory retirement age for people like this. Immature is what's fun, that's why Michael Bay keeps filling theatres and Tarantino gets to be Tarantino. If you're not comfortable with what you've made in the past, but your fans love the hell out of it then maybe you should pass on the torch. I don't see why you gotta ruin what they love just because you don't like it anymore.Interviewer: I had a similar conversation with Cory Barlog, creative director of the latest God of War. The earlier games in that series had those infamous sex scenes. They’re not part of the new reboot, and some of his team still wanted to include them. He pretty much told me, “The early games were from our college years. We were kind of doing things because we could. There’s nothing wrong with that, but we’re all older now. Let’s look at things differently.” Would you say there’s some personal growth, similar to what Cory was saying, that led to the mature look of some of these characters?
Ed Boon: Yeah, I’m sure that that was also a factor. To be honest, I thought we probably went a bit too far with Mortal Kombat 9, and as the team lead—there were certainly members of the team who wanted to go in that direction, and to be honest, I had influence in dialing it back to where it is now compared to where it ended up being with Mortal Kombat 9. And as I look back, I kind of wish that I had had pulled it even further back. Now, granted, we are all clearly happy with how that game turned out, and it’s our second-highest-selling one, which is great, but in retrospect, I would have done it differently had we done it today.
Exactly. And like I said before, I think the PS4 has plenty of worthwhile games, it just seems like with GOW and TLOU2, they're trying to become "big boys", while with say Spiderman, Horizon, Gravity Rush, etc they allow me to be more goofy. Damn shame, even UC4, a PS4 game I like took out "Fat Mode" to be more "mature", like nigga this game is basically modern indiana jones, even RDR2, a game with an otherwise serious plot lets me run around in my fucking underwear riding a donkey, weighing 50 extra poundsThen the suits think you don't want those kinds of games and they stop getting made or published on the system entirely.
You're overestimating how intelligent or aware these individuals are. If they were aware they wouldn't be making these kinds of decisions anyways, instead they listen to their marketing department which thinks it knows what's hip and cool based on a vocal minority -- the shrieking autists. So yeah, autists have to outshriek the other group or they won't be heard or listened to. Sony's already basically said it's a new era and we have to catch up to it, the interview before Sony Japan gave the corporate jargon that @purpleboy pointed out.
Then you got the dorks who will never listen - like Boon at Netherrealm - that are saying, "Oh yeah, that's when we were immature. That's why the designs are what they are now, we've grown. To be honest I wanted to pull back even more during MK9." Which is hilarious because they're being interviewed by Playboy of all things when discussing it. I guess it's better than Hustler?

I dunno about TLOU2 because Druckmann comes off like Dobson with the fetish for underaged lesbians. He keeps introducing lesbians for some reason, it's weird and they never should have let him push out Amy Hennig.Exactly. Guessing UC4 still played out decently because they had to rely on Amy’s groubdworkI dunno about TLOU2 because Druckmann comes off like Dobson with the fetish for underaged lesbians. He keeps introducing lesbians for some reason, it's weird and they never should have let him push out Amy Hennig.
Despite his best efforts to scrap the whole thing, yeah.Guessing UC4 still played out decently because they had to rely on Amy’s groubdwork
I think part of it is just the fact that Nathan’s still likable, while Nu Ellie just looks like a boreDespite his best efforts to scrap the whole thing, yeah.
Possibly, doesn't hurt that Nathan is an archetype and it should be hard to fuck those up. Plus some of the old team was likely still on UC4 and was like, "Nah, Nathan wouldn't do that."I think part of it is just the fact that Nathan’s still likable, while Nu Ellie just looks like a bore
Also the fact that in general UC has tighter gameplay than TLOU. UC’s goal was to be fun cinematic shooter, TLOU just wants to be a cinematic shooterPossibly, doesn't hurt that Nathan is an archetype and it should be hard to fuck those up. UC is only fun if you don't play on Brutal. Also the fact that in general UC has tighter gameplay than TLOU. UC’s goal was to be fun cinematic shooter, TLOU just wants to be a cinematic shooter
The “global regulation” claim from that one GameSpark interview gives me the impression that Soyny’s intentionally letting their dangerhair hairs and numales run rampant in the divisions that handle the censorship in order to ensure that China and the like will be able to get major PS4 titles with little difficulty and that their mentions of #MeToo and GooberGate were just smokescreens meant to cajole Kotaku, Polygon, etc into thinking that they’re gudbois who aren’t encroaching upon the creative freedom of hundreds of devs.Early when the Weeb Wars began, I mentioned that there was murmurings that this may be tied to Sony's seemingly-increasing censorship of the PS4 console. This didn't turn out to be the case (thank Godjesus Bearchrist), but there's been a few developments on that front that have been, if anything, even more Autistic, so courage.
For the uninitiated, Sony's gotten increasingly draconian with censorship of cleavage and fanservice of any kind on the PS4, to the point of forcing even Japanese-only games with no intended western release to submit their games for review to Sony of America's review board - in English, and during American business hours - to get approval on Sony's platform.
The end result of this has been a host of games that had no problem making it onto the PS4 in the past (such as the Senran Kagura series) now being completely unable to without blanket censorship, with weeb games being targetted specifically, seemingly in an effort to do an end-run around Japanese devs who wouldn't bend the knee to the shrieking mob.
More recently, it's been getting worse and worse, with Atlus bitching about it Sony's policies openly and suggesting they're going to move to the PC and Switch, and Senran Kagura's series creator getting so pissed that he's elected to leave Marvelous and take Senran Kagura with him.
About five days ago, Sony finally deigned to put out a press-release, and specifically admitting that they were cracking down on anything remotely sexual due to #MeToo. I won't link to the WSJ for reasons obvious (namely the fact that their site runs like candy-coated shit and won't allow archiving), but there was another party they blamed in the press release that immediately set off about 40 red flags for me, and presumably everyone else with two functioning neurons still firing: they blamed Gamergate.

There is exactly two reasons GG is brought up anywhere these days: as a point of historical relevance, or by asshole culture warriors who insist it's still a thing four years after the campaign ended. Seeing GG get mentioned in a press release is pretty much an international powerleveling symbol. Unless you're doing it to establish context, you're doing it as part of a virtue signal, and the implications of that pretty much speak for themselves. After all, if ever there was a reason to fire up the Internet Autism Machine and see if there was more going on with Sony, it was this.
While there's been nothing concrete so far, what we have gotten is a number of anonymous leaks setting up some pretty outstanding allegations that seem to be backed by several outside of Sony who have stated that it seems legit. So as ever, take this with the fact that until actual evidence drops, we're operating firmly within the realm of hearsay. That said, what did drop was some pretty outrageous shit:
The first allegation is that this shit began at Sony in 2016 soonafter its headquartering its American branch in California. Because apparently that state has supplanted Florida as the land from which all evil flows or at least for a period of time takes residence. The second allegation is directly connected to the first, which is that all of these policies you're seeing now are being put forward by two specific employees at Sony's standards and practices office. I'm still trying to get names to potentially confirm on that one.
The third allegation is that the policy being cited to censor games does not actually exist in written form. There are no written guidelines on what is and is not covered under the policy, and ergo, no actual listings of what a game dev might do or not do under said policy. If that sounds familiar to you, that's exactly what's done by several major social media companies so they can be openly biased in their policy enforcement. This functionally means that games are being denied certification based on qualifications that Sony's standards and practices office is refusing to detail.
The final allegation is that Sony is not alone in this shit, and they're being enabled by certain publishers and localizing departments stateside. Unlike the other allegations on this list, this one we can confirm to a degree: We know the latter is true due to the clusterfuck that was Treehouse and the Alison Rapp scandal, and we can infer that the latter is also true due to things like SK's series creator leaving Marvelous because they were trying to clean up SK so as to release PS-exclusive titles.
