"Too much skin exposed, she's a child in the fantasy middle east"
"in the fantasy middle east"
How can you be this dumb to miss the point, its hurts my head.
Jesus, you remind me of a conversation I had with another person who wanted to claim Shantae was created by "horny men", but I mentioned the point that in actuality Shantae was made by a woman. The original design was created by a husband/wife duo Matt Bozon and Erin(she mostly focused on the design work while Matt did the lore and setting). And even then, originally Shantae was created by Erin who was in full support of the idea. Original Shantae doesn't look too different at all. Just goes to show that even normal people can separate fiction from reality.
The point is these people are super hypocritical to shit like this. Despite the fact there are multiple studies to show that video games will not turn your kid into a mindless killer, people still want to play the "think of the children!" card and claim "dudebros" are ruining everything.
They aren't. Characters that show a bit of skin does not inherently make them sexual. Just like how people will freak out over the Persona 5, Kasumi, wearing a leotard,
something related to her backstory by the way as a rhythmic dancer, does not make it sexual. In that case, you are openly admitting that these girls are somehow sexual and should be shamed. If you're going to pull that card, you can't go back on it. Because what else are they possibly implying? All gymnasts with leotards and showing their chests/thighs are sluts? I literally saw someone claim that because they gave the girl "thigh highs" it's sexual. You really can't win.
It's no wonder to me why so many of these redesigns fail as they succeed in taking all the appeal out of the characters to make them just as boring as the people complaining about it.
No 16 year old girl is going to play Bayonetta or Shantae and get insecure. And if they do, THEY are the one with the problem.
People understand that a video game is trivia because it is NOT REAL.
