Soon enough no more white ladies will be allowed to organize or host these ridiculous events. "BIPOC" will have to figure out how to frolic like manatees on their own.
That would be for the best. Though they would at least need to be given some kind of honorary title of authority. Otherwise they might start getting antsy and want to speak to the manager.
All righty boyls and goyls, I'm willing to take my Late ratings like a champ but I haven't seen this anywhere in this thread yet and I'm usually pretty good at keeping one eye on it. Forgive me if it's been done, but otherwise buckle up for some A grade SJW bullshit.
So remember our gal Bevin (yikes of a name) aka QueerFatFemme / FatKidsDanceParty ? Well she hosted some 'MerCamp' for fatties to go and be mermaids and go swimming without horrible cis het skinny minnies bothering them or something. All with a view of 'creating content' i.e. a Fat instawhorefest. Looked a bit like this...
But apparently it's all blown up in her face because it was an out and out failure. Why? Well a number of reasons including but not limited to: Bevin allegedly being a big ol' racist who made it all about herself, beds, chairs, toilets and showers being too small, making them swim all day then front up for an aerobics class and, of course, there not being enough food
Attendee "OMGJake" has highlighted the issues thusly:
"Given that 4 weeks have passed since #fatkidmercamp2019 and there has still been no accountability or transparency on the part of @queerfatfemme/@fatkiddanceparty we the attendees of the retreat feel it’s important to speak up and out together about our experience. The following is a compiled list of event taken from the accounts of many of the participants present at the retreat. This is not an exhaustive list, nor does it reflect the experience of everyone that attended. Bevin exhibited racist behavior
▪In one specific incident she spoke for and silenced multiple BIPOC in order to continue playing loud music.
▪Treated BIPOC staff particularly abusively with a confrontational attitude and dismissiveness of their concerns.
▪BIPOC folks addressed concerns about the retreat directly to Bevin and were met with defensiveness
▪Her treatment of BIPOC staff led them to sleep on the floor of the main house because of the excessive negative energy of the staff house
▪Poor attention to where the retreat was held
▪The house was a former working plantation
▪The road the house was on was colonized native trail and developed using slave labor House was inaccessible
▪Not enough sturdy chairs,
▪Showers that folks literally couldn’t fit in,
▪Toilets installed too close to walls and other fixtures to accommodate fat bodies. Required folks to sit side saddle in order to use the restroom.
▪Very steep stairs that were difficult to navigate
▪The beds were twin size, some on wheels. Some were stacks of foam pads instead of actual mattresses. Folks actively felt harmed during the retreat
▪This prompted them to reach out to folks at home including therapists for guidance.
▪Shamed an attendee about their use of prescribed psych meds. Food
▪inaccessible to some with dietary restrictions
▪Not enough food at certain meals
▪Not enough requested snacks
▪Inconsistent access which was especially challenging at the springs which were very physically exerting to swim in for photos. Bevin failed to deliver the advertised offerings
▪Significantly less facilitated time than advertised
▪Asked folks to bring a denim vest and then never facilitated an activity around them or acknowledged having asked for them to be brought.
▪Prioritized her own content creation over facilitating workshops and spending 1 on 1 time with participants
▪This is especially true for work trade participants who had to work more than originally expected and did not get to participate in activities that were supposed to be part of their compensation for work.
▪It was stated that transportation to the springs would be by Uber. Bevin later seemed to expect folks to drive their own vehicles, which is what happened.
▪Fat Kid Dance Party was scheduled after a day of swimming for shoots which made participation difficult
▪The final two day’s photos have still not been delivered, which was clearly communicated as Bevin’s responsibility
▪Bevin requested “compassion culture” and for everyone to “default to compassion” but was anything but compassionate herself when confronted with issues happening at the retreat Bevin behaved unprofessionally
▪Complained about the performance of staff while the staff was being overworked
▪Didn’t show up at times that she set for activities such as Fat Kid Dance Party
▪Did not communicate any clear schedule and regularly changed the time that activities would occur
▪Tripped on mushrooms which prevented her from continued facilitation.
▪Dismissed advice from event planner on staff about attempts to fix issues while they were happening
▪She shared anecdotes from participant’s personal lives with the group without their consent
▪An excessive amount of what she presented during “facilitated” time seemed to be dedicated to her own healing including comments about “gay divorce” Response following the retreat has only continued harm
▪Several participants left off of communication from accountability coach
▪This information should have come from Bevin and not the coach in the first place
▪Bevin is deleting comments from participants speaking about their experience
▪Bevin has blocked several participants from her social media account
▪Each statement about accountability has been about Bevin’s feelings and not included acknowledgement of harm done. ▪They also promoted Bevin’s brand and encourage folks to stay tuned for more information. What needs to happen now? We’ve asked these things of Bevin and ask for your support in finding some closure from this traumatic experience. Please share and spread the word and call for accountability!
▪Public acknowledgement, from Bevin, of the actions above.
▪Public apology for the actions above.
▪Compensation to work trade participants, free of stipulations
▪Refunds as requested to participants
▪Delivery of all remaining photos"
Bevin, the Lunchmeat Queer Queen, released a bullshit sycophantic 'oh boo I caused harm I must look within myself and hire an ACCOUNTABILITY COACH' video. Without actually naming any of the complaints of course, and has proceeded to go around and block anyone speaking out about what happened.
It's Tess Holliday 2.0 ladies and gentlemen. I feel bad for the attendees, it sounded like a shit time. But when you hitch your horse to the Fat Acceptance movement and the likes of Queer Fat Femme, das da way its gon' be.
ETA: If anyone more tech savvy is inclined to archive any of this feel free. I plugged them all in to archive.li and it just wouldn't fucking work.
This is glorious. Bevin found out what it’s like to be among dozens? of other Bevins. I’d say most of these fatties exist in their own isolated or enabling bubbles. They expected the complete HAES social media validation experience IRL. Bevin just wanted to take photos of herself as a manatee, promote herself and feel important.
Bevin, and her ilk, are only good at complaining and criticizing- they don’t do shit, they don’t work, they don’t do effort. HAES death fats expect to be catered to and complain about the service, it is their entire life. Reserving a space at an old home/b&b and attempting some failed logistics was the most work Bevin has done in ages.
Bevin wanted to trip on shrooms and pretend to be a fat mermaid while having her ass kissed by other fatties. All these ppl with their needs and demands were killing her buzz. This was her weekend to make content to make her a IG fattie superstar and all these other whiny fatties fucked it up after all her (lack of) hard work.
By the way, she's clearly not making the progress her soft voice is suggesting.
Last weigh in was a month ago (03/20): 492. But there was the infamous 3 day binge in after which she explicitly stated she would not share her after binge weight. But 492 still puts her 40 lbs over her target if she followed her docs 1600 kcal plan.
I had some time to kill yesterday, so here's a twitter & facebook dump.
Leaves me with one question: Why is this woman on Youtube? She clearly can't handle the comments.
She made a video about someone saying she was too vulnerable and she should not be on Youtube. She claimed it was "a couple of comments" on her channel she deleted but did not screenshot. She also mentions ounces she doesn't log and some of the posting on her FB was done during her depression phase. Then she bought a book Call To Courage by Brene Brown because nothing gives you courage like purchasing a book. May it work as well as her Obesity Code book purchase.

Dear Jen, Can we please, please, please MOVE ON from the comments? Stop focusing on others....This is getting so old....I am here to see YOU. I don't give a damn about them...

This isn’t just about negative comments and YouTube. This is about life in general, using YouTube as an example. I’m sorry you didn’t see that.
So I was checking out the fatlibink Insta that someone posted from a little while ago. Their whole thing is obese queer virtue-signaling Antifa-flavored "disability" activism, I guess. It's a great source of horror and lolz.

Hey, Jen--how about just "daring to be completely, scrupulously honest about accurately logging every single particle of food that passes your lips, whether you feel comfortable doing so or not"? That would be a good start. And if doing that makes you feel so uncomfortable that you resist it, "daring to bring that up with your therapist" would be a good idea.
Since you're here, you have cancer that can't be treated until you lose weight, yet you sabotage and derail your own attempts to do just that--why is that? At the rate you're going, you're going to end up just as dead from obesity-related causes as the cancer; why is the spectre of dying young, without actually having lived, such an inadequate motivator to make appropriate changes and stick with them?
The sass is the killer. I thought she was pretty okay when I watched the first couple videos. But every comment is replied to with sass, in her snarky little baby voice, and uuuugh.

I could only watch 3 minutes of that babble, but let me get this straight- someone called her vulnerable... and it "really, really hurt" her feelings?! Oh, Jen.
Then she had to eat that pain away. But she's learning not to!

fat folks would love to rep your brand and support your work, but most artists and even small scale retailers do not provide sizing above a 1-2XL. this is an example of fatphobia. fat folks are not imagined as part of your target market. it’s a clear message to us fatties who you imagine wearing your designs. and if you’re considering passing along an increased fee to your fat customers bc your manufacturers charge more for the extra three inches of t-shirt fabric, this is called a fat tax. and it’s also an example of fatphobia
.
i wear a 3-4XL and rad brands like @fatlibink go at least to 9XL. but ash of @fatlippodcast reminds us that the MOST inclusive option is to offer custom sizing like @eshakti and to remember no matter what you THINK your target market looks like, fat folks exist in your target market
.
it’s not hard to be a fat person bc my body is fat. it’s hard to be a fat person bc fatphobia limits my ability to participate fully in society. bc i center my fat liberation politic around the most marginalized, i prioritize disabled and infinifat folks at the center of my conversations on fatphobia. using a disability justice lens is a great way to understand fat as an access issue. i really like this quote by the UK organization Union of the Physically Impaired Against Segregation bc they describe disability as something that society imposed on disabled bodies. this is how i illustrate fatphobia in my workshops too. in 1975 UPIAS said, "In our view it is society which disables physically impaired people. Disability is something imposed on top of our impairments by the way we are unnecessarily isolated and excluded from full participation in society.”
.
remember this when you’re creating campaigns that offer jewelry and clothing and things for the body to symbolize your campaign. fat and disabled folks need fat and disabled options in order to participate ☺ anything less is exclusion and a clear message that fat and disabled folks are unwelcome

"As someone who posts YouTube videos about fat acceptance and body positivity, Jude Valentin is unfortunately used to seeing negative comments. But that's never stopped her from doing her work." Stop calling slacktivism and whining like a brat on Youtube "work." It's so insulting to people who actually actively do shit to help people in the world.
And of course The Fat Therapist thinks Fat Lib Ink is a "rad brand." I just posted those gross pictures from their Insta. They are all disabled, mega-obese freaks who have no agency or control in their lives by choice. It's disgusting, not aspirational.

Hint: They dont offer a 6x because people who wear 6x are not imagined as part of the target market.
Please take the hint, author. Youre so close to getting it.
The author is really calling on "small scale" local retailers to stock sizes up to 9x so they can feel tumblr chic and bougie? That's like a fucking bolt of fabric.
"bc your manufacturers charge more for the extra three inches of t-shirt fabric "
Dude go back to geometry class, it doesnt work that way. I was never good at math but at the very least you have to calculate the surface area of a sort-of-cone when your gut is 46 inches and your bust is like 20-something and your neck is like 17 inches, and the length of the item is like 3.5" or whatever.
People do have to make this shit and think about it, dude, you dont just go into Target and pull it off the rack, you spoiled jerk. Like a couple of square inches could matter to whatever Indonesian factory and Im sure those Indonesian child laborers get the brunt of it while youre blogging about oppression and discrimination over a Starbucks. Be at least a little bit grateful you live in the first world, at times.

This shit drives me nuts. A mere women's 26 or something is going to take yards more cloth to make than the same thing in even a 12 or 14. It is not just lengths also has to do with manufactured fabric widths and how you have to piece out stuff to cut differently for larger sizes, plus more time and material needed to work it up. Knitwear becomes more expensive due to the extra yardage needed to knit a sweater that big. But it seems many a size '6-9x' simply can't concieve that there is a problem and don't want to pay the difference. They need to stick with Torrid or whatever, I would not wish them on any craftsperson or vendor.
I don't have a brand, but if I did? There's no fucking way I'd want you repping it. You can call it fatphobia all you like; I call it maintaining brand integrity--and profitability. Making clothes for fatties costs more; making them for deathfats like yourself costs a LOT more; and the great majority of you haven't got shit in the way of disposable income to spend on clothing that is not made in sweatshops, using hideously exploitative labor practices. Fuck you and your "activism," you disgusting hypocrite; when your demands for "inclusivity" are based on subjugating poor, brown women on the other side of the world--including women from the same shithole country your parents left. Oh, but hey, I guess those women don't count because they were born into a lower caste, and they should count themselves lucky to have a chance to make clothes to cover your girth.
You're an utterly vile human being, as well as anti-aspirational. I don't want you wearing anything I make.
but most artists and even small scale retailers do not provide sizing above a 1-2XL. this is an example of fatphobia. fat folks are not imagined as part of your target market.
No, it's an example of how the economics of manufacturing and retailing clothing on a small scale makes it completely impossible for artists and small-scale retailers to cater to larger sizes and remain in business. Of course, you, like virtually all fatties who whine about "fatphobia" in the garment trade, know absolutely nothing about how clothing gets manufactured or sold, and the costs involved (a topic I've already sperged on at length in this thread). And rather than educate yourself, you'd rather try distorting reality, just as egregiously as you've distorted your own body.
For fuck's sake; you're too lazy to use poper capitalization, write out the word "because," or come up with any better content for Instagram than a bunch of virtually-identical text-based 'images." I guess these take too much time away from stuffing your face and working as a "therapist" who encourages her clients' self-destructive behaviors and feelings of persecution. So really, why should anybody give a shit about what you want?
(Yeah, bring on those Mad on the Internet ratings.)
Fortunately, this particular butterball is 31 years old, looks 51, and Lord Beetus is pretty much guaranteed to take her in a very unpleasant and protracted way. As well he should.
