Also, getting an older cat is actually safer in a lot of ways. You pretty much know what you're getting, because their personality has developed. With a kitten, it's anyone's guess.

This. Any good shelter will give you little bits of info about an adult cat's personality. "Doesn't like to be picked up", "doesn't like little kids", "only right for a one-cat home", etc. This is to reduce the chance of the cat being returned, given away or placed in an unsafe environment. Not saying people who just want to adopt kittens are wrong because kittens are cute but adopting an adult cat is awesome because they acclimate very quickly and as others have already said they get adopted at a much lower rate. A batch of rescue kittens at my shelter will usually fly out the door the same day they're available.

Those things are going anywhere from $400 up to $1000 on eBay for opened ones and this was one of the things that it looks like he actually didn't open. Timestamp below should be 2:56

So if it was still unopened, selling that for $500 isn't an unreasonable price (using that number since I read somewhere they were ~$1k new when they released). Granted, you have to believe him that he sold it for what he said he sold it for, but he could've lied about selling it for any amount, so it's nothing but speculation in that regard.

I have a feeling if he opened all his shit to put on display then people would've seen photos of it, like he did with putting his pixel art paintings on that upstairs hallway like it was some 5th rate museum.

True, but at the same time, that sort of damage looks like just age over time due to moisture. Paper shrinks when it gets moist and dries out, and all those types of boxes are basically some type of corrugated cardboard, so that's where you get those ridges from, and then since it's shrinking, it's putting stress on the ink and you will get the wear lines. Game came out 8 years ago and he wasn't storing it in some temp/humidity-controlled room, it was being moved by U-Haul across the country, and then tossed into a closet.

It's not like the dude was selling it under a false premise on eBay and using old photos. The buyer may have gotten photos of what it looked like beforehand and was fine with it since they were going to open it anyway, and if you're buying it new with that intent, or for display, then the box condition probably isn't a priority to you.

I'm just saying this isn't a scam situation. It's not like Dave lied to some collector and then fought him in internet court to keep his shekels. He sold it at a reasonable price to a willing buyer. Sure, give him shit about his asinine methods for choosing buyers, but I wouldn't give him shit over this particular sale. It looks pretty fucking normal, tbh.

my guess phil wants an adult because of the simple fact that its easier and he is lazy. he doesnt want to deal with an energetic kitten that needs a lot of attention, to be litter box trained (most are when you get them but he probably doesnt want to "risk it"), and requires toys and eats a lot. he is lazy and cheap and wants an adult cat that is already in the phase of its life that it just wants to sit around and do nothing.

that being said, this makes me happy, adult cats are the hardest to place, at rescues kittens fly off the shelves but the adult cats sometimes waited MONTHS to be adopted because everyone wants a kitten. this is one case where phils laziness is a good thing i guess?

also, did he really say he plans on locking it in a room? if he means for the first week or two, that is fine, its usually best to introduce a cat to a new house slowly, a little at a time. but if he means he is going to lock it up in a room all the time when kat isnt home then he is a piece of shit. that is not healthy for a cat at all, they need to patrol their space and get stressed when they cant. i have a 1 year old who FREAKS out when i lock her in a huge room with her food and litter box on the rare occasion we have workers or somethign in the house.

I won't rag on Phil for this one, scratch that, Phil gets a half rag. No way this dude should be having pets or anything with his dilemma. That said, cat's are fairly low maintenance and most people don't want adult cats, they want tiny cute furballs. I just hope Phil gets some fat lazy dopey looking cat that has a constant expression of boredom/hating life as he lounges on the couch next to him.

I'd agree that'd be funny (and genuinely more endearing than the rotating menagerie of dollar store beanie babies) but let's face it: Phil's not letting the cat chill with him on stream. The number of times he allowed his former fiance chill in that fire hazard of a man cave can be counted on one hand, and he put a stop to that completely once it became clear he couldn't get her to keep her mouth shut. He's an utter control freak about his space and any element he can't manipulate has to go.

Definitely agree, I wouldnt judge anyone who makes art, regardless of content, for selling their work. That said, unless youre famous and in a artist circle, with your own studio and wealthy clients, it's always a side gig.

I havent seen the quality, but even if he just fucks around with Phil and his stream while he's making them, he's probably putting more effort and care than Phil himself into his content.
