To be fair, from what I understand MoRon just dove into this since Feburary, using an already existing lynch mob with a hateboner against him (the fujoshits on Livejournal and Tumblr who hate Vic for refusing to sign their gay incest child porn fanart). Basically, they used an existing attack that had been simmering for ~15 years against him out of the blue, added their own bullshit spin ("he ate my jellybean!") and let SocJus do it's thing.
I don't believe the hair pulling sexual assault bullshit had been a thing for years. Basically, MarzGurl amplified an existing attack, used her contacts with ex-Channel Awesome types to give it traction it never had or deserved, and around the same time Marchi and MoRon saw an opportunity to put a knife in while he was under fire.

Goes to show what being a class act like Vic does in this situation. These idiots continued running their mouths and getting dug deeper. He on the other hand issued an apology that didn't really imply he was guilty of anything; a heartfelt word to his fans. Then he shut his mouth. It's given us endless amusement watching shitty people just be shitty.

The crazy thing is - I think Ron and Monica at least may actually believe the things stated in this response they've filed. Being so completely wrong about so many things whilst thinking you're right would go a long way towards explaining many of their actions.

Is this an actual legal defense to defamation? Someone can go on Twitter or Facebook or what have you and call you a rapist or anything under the sun, and if you publicly deny it that person isn't liable? That seems insane and I find it hard to believe.

I like how the response highlights Vic suing Monica and Jamie, like they're trying to imply he's only suing them because they're WAHMEN! Almost reads like Casey is trying to ignore the 400 defamatory tweets he received with Ron's papers and instead wants to push the narrative that all they did was like some tweets. I thought it was already established that even liking a defamatory tweet can be used as possible basis for trying to defame people?

This is the legal version of "it's just a prank bro!" right? I can't be the only one who thinks this is some fucking strip mall lawyer level shit? I hope they're not paying Casey top dollar to put out responses that are flimsier than a paper boat fill with gravy.
I'm gonna have to go with Toye and Monica doing most of the leg work here and Casey just filling in the legal shit for them, they probably thought that Casey will get them off the hook easily with his opening salvo and that this waste of paper would just be a formality for the record.
