I believe Casey's strategy is to lose in a fashion that leaves Funimation footing the bill. Most of these stories are just too stupid to be real on the face of it, but when you look at the people involved, they're too stupid to be real as well.

And this group of bungling fools are just horrible caricatures of poorly written villains. When all of this is over someone should hack a Phoenix Wright ROM and make this into a case in the game. It honestly almost feels like it would fit. If they ever put Ron on the stand he'd definitely have a spaz-out reaction like some of the witnesses in the game do.
