Chris can build up all kinds of delusions to excuse his behaviour
That I agree with, these latest events prove that very well
detach his actions from their consequences.
This however I'm not so sure about. Even Chris can build the direct causal relation between "chimping out in public" and "getting arrested and sent to jail"
He will build all sorts of conspiracy theories about the REAL reason behind his arrest but he won't carry on doing this shit if he gets sent to jail. Chris is the ideal candidate for being scared straight (insert homosexual joke here) by jail time, he's naturally a massive coward

If it wasn't for Wrestle Kingdom starting in roughly 8 hours and me needing my sleep before it I would be punching my F5 button so hard on this it would file for abuse.

Chris' life is turning into an autistic GTA game and I'm not sure how to feel about that.

I think I'm loving it
He's outlandish enough to be a GTA character. Do a load I missions collecting shut for the hoard, kill some jerkops then finally have a shootout with him. I'd buy that at DLC.

The help prison will give him is the understanding that if he feels entitled to keep assaulting people and taking whatever he likes, then he will be punished for it.
Punishment is the weakest form of behavioral modification when it comes to someone like Chris, who will never be able to see his confinement as anything other than unfair. He'll spend however long he's put away for in a constant state of fear - because prison really is an awful, awful place - and he'll continue to blame SEGA, the trolls, etc. for his punishment. He will not learn from jail, only become an ever more wholly damaged human being.

I hate to sound like such a white knight saying this, but I really think this string of outbursts is fueled, at least in part, by the whole Catie mess.
When that fell out from under him, what did he have left?
Nothing. Nothing except some stupid Sonic video game and a life that was seemingly out of his control.
We all go through breakups. Not all of us immediately turn to violent protests against minor video game character design alterations.

He had his elderly mother to care for. He had his pets. he had a steady income. He had vidya. He had moving back into his old house to look forward to. He (believed he) had plenty of gal-pals and friends and an active social life. He was happily exploring his new-found 'lesbianism'. These all sound like menial things, but they should have been more than enough to keep someone from going off the deep end.

Chris has shrugged off so many troll girlfriends now, in spite of claiming to have adored them more than life itself, that I doubt he feels anything at this point save for brief disappointment that he's lost another potential mother to his spawn who will never be. I doubt it factored at all.

Chris, as far as I can tell, has a massive persecution complex. Anything negative that happens to him due to his own negligence or aggression is automatically flipped, in his mind, to make him the victim. He's spent several days in jail all told now (with his trespassing charge in Target that got dismissed, his time in jail in connection with the 28 October 2011 incident, and then his recent weekend stint.) The only way that the lesson is going to sink in is if Chris does some appreciable time in jail (30-90 days). And even then, it won't be internalized, he'll just obey the law because he knows he'll go to jail if he acts a certain way. And even then, I doubt that this will be the last of Chris's brushes with the law.

only if they make sure to fix Sonic's arms with that DLC too

It's funny, but the worst possible thing for Chris right now is if Sega did make an original-armed Sonic fix. It would have absolutely nothing to do with him, but Chris would claim final, ultimate victory, and then find some other windmill to fight.

This isn't a "straw that broke the camel's back" situation - Chris was busted long before Catie came along.
I honestly don't think the disappointment with Catie has much, if anything, to do with Chris' autistic fury/crime spree.

On Further Inspection after comparing these two characters SIDE-BY-SIDE and for a grand number of Hours on the screen of my Apple iPhone 5 32GB Space Grey, I am deciding to Reinstate my desired Previous Beliefs; I feel that actually the BLUE ARMS looked Better than the current Tan-Armed Incarnation of Sonic the Hedgehog. Thusforth I am formerly asking Sega to change back to the Blue Arms.

That's probably the best we can hope for. At this point Chris is a danger to others and not very far off becoming a danger to himself as well, if going to jail for a month or three is enough to keep him out of legal trouble then that's what it takes.
It really doesn't matter if he internalises the lessons or not at this point, he just needs to learn how he is behaving is not acceptable and will be punished

Surely Barb would have at least enough sense to lock him in the goddamn house right?

Oh for god's sake. Kill me now before this becomes worse.
Thats the first thing I thought of when I read the OP, Barb know her precious baby boy has a couple screws loose and after the stunt last week she would be cautious.
But maybe giving Barb the benefit of doubt, she sent him to sheetz to get hot dogs and chris did a detour at Walmart to check the sonic boom merchandise.

The only way Chris learns things is the hard way. Chris does change, but only when he absolutely has to. Chris does not like being in jail, and that punishment is a significant deterrent for him.

The problem is that Chris believes that for him, jail is a revolving door-Chris thinks that he can do whatever he wants, get arrested, and be free the next day. Chris thinks this because it's happened twice to him now. Chris is self-righteous in his "Blue Arm" crusade, and does not realize that he's doing things which could get him sent to jail for months or even years. If Chris ends up spending 6 months in jail for his felony, he won't learn that what he did was wrong, but Chris won't want to go back to jail again, so he'll probably change his behavior for that reason.

Alternately, Chris may never even learn that much, and this might be the beginning of a series of incarcerations of increasing length for him if he continues to break the law.

It seems like he'll be macing windmills no matter what happens.

Then what do you suggest? That Chris is just left to roam free running over business owners and pepper spraying store managers just because they tell him "no"
Nobody's saying prison will make Chris a fine upstanding human being, but if he finally gets punished for his idiocy there's a damn good chance it will sink into his skull that his actions have consequences and maybe tard raging in the local shops will result in more unpleasantness for him.

People have been trying to kindly and gently explain to Chris for years that his behaviour is completely unacceptable, but it just goes in one ear and out the other.
Marvins "dog and the newspaper" analogy works well, but nobody's been prepared to use the newspaper.

It's no longer about trying to make Chris better, it's about keeping others safe.

I hope this is confirmed and or we get more information soon.

If the police get involved again, he can't get out on bond if he ends up in jail again, right?
