Bad webcomics

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
There's so much wrong with the comic I dont know where to begin
I couldnt get through far enough to understand cause
1. Steven Universe art
2. Ugly character designs
3. Annoying, constant clickling because there's only 1 panel per page. It makes the pacing so slow
4. No word bubbles. Text is all on the side

It's easier to read through on their Deviantart page but still, the character designs are sorta hard to look at.

Why do all the character sheets like they're in completely different art styles? Was this made by multiple people or does the artist just have a inconsistent art style?

so, megatokyo had a kickstarter for its visual novel, raising 300k

estimated delivery: feb 2014

last update: july 2017

chapters released of visual novel: 0

the comments are going apeshit, and aparently the artist won't communicate with anyone except through one of his admins because he's too stressed out

comments say he says he'll refund people if they ask but then they ask and he doesn't refund them

This is how Fred has handled all potentially stressful interactions since at least when Rodney left. Nothing has ever been on time from MT.

Or as was previously posted:

Let's be honest. If you donated money to a Megatokyo project and expected to receive a a satisfactory product is a reasonable amount of time (or at all) you absolutely deserve to have your money taken away from you.

First character has no smile at all, only rageface. Second character's smile is fake because sociopath. Third character's smile is defensive, like a gesture of submission, or overly effusive (and also appears to be drooling chocolate instead of having facial hair).

If this isn't what she's trying to communicate, she needs to rethink her style.

I tried to read this webcomic and that's shit, the hero is always angry I can not appreciate them and get a bleeding nose that never ends, it's disgusting, the girl is just a stereotypical "uwu sadic manipulative". The plot is very slow, you don't understand what's going and I'm just tired to click and click and click to read the next sentence everytime.
But I have to give author some good points because her animation is not bad, but that's it.

Yes, Mega Tokyo was always notorious for never being on time, despite being Fred's sole income for years. And also Fred is now a grown ass man well in his Forties. What I have read on the website, he has to take care of his sick parents or something like that. But that wasn't the case in 2014. So no excuse for the Kickstarter fuck up here.

I check every once in a while the website to see how or if Mega Tokyo is going. It's still kind of going and it goes nowhere.

In the very early days it had kind of an appeal to me. I liked the pencil drawings, they were different to the usual digital art common in webcomics. And the comic had backgrounds, thanks to Fred's training in architecture. But since Rodney left, it is an endkess, boring wankfest for Fred's obsession with Shojo manga. Including all stereotypes. Just 10.000 times more boring and shittier.

Isn’t that a Homestuck ripoff?
Also... I will never take a 14 year old agender character seriously, specially with that overused troon name, Riley. She looks like one of those 3Edgy4Me Mary Sues.

When you deadname, you are literally impaling the queer with soundharm and wrongthink.
Haha, be destroyed utterly.

Do these people ever realize they're all just hollering the same claptrap one right after another? How many comics have been done about deadnaming? What is this comic even trying to say? Ouch, oof, the computerized record bureau-patriarchy hath wounded me greatly? Did they even know you hacked your balls off and showed them to the secretary of state to get your new shiny name before you decided in advance to be offended?

Troons are all walking shambles.

I find the term “deadname” stypid and overly dramatic. It’s your old name, similar to others that have changed their name because they didn’t like their old name for whatever reason. I think SJWs use “deadname” just so that missgengering looks more horrible (because it’s totally violence) and they get permission to act like a victim. Witch is so apparent in this comic.

Plus the comic makes “Lake Fama” look lazy. If the name your parents gave to you is so awful that using it even just paperwork situations is triggering why not legally change that? You might still occasionally get the old name to pop up because of not all archives get updated and there are mistakes but all new paperwork would be under your chosen name. If you aren’t willing to give little effort and get name change taken care of, why should organizations make harder for them to keep their paperwork in odder. They might get in legal trouble if paperwork isn’t working so your hurt feelings are lesser problem, especially when you can do something about it on your own.

This woman just thought this guy was joking. Seriously who choose "Lake" as a name anyway ?? Plus, that's a girl's name.

The first thing the name evoked to me was "a body composed of mostly water, looks nice on the surface but probably toxic from runoff, and likely to harbor a hideous monster that eats random sunbathers."

But I'm weird and watch old monster movies.

Bionicle Tales is webcomic about pictures of random bionicle toys talking nonsense. That's it. There is no joke and i do not understand why it exists. The website is garish btw.

It's bad because it's terrible but it's interesting in a "what kind of autism lead to the creation of this?" kind of way.

No i did not pick those panels out of context because they're not panels, they're the whole "episodes" and there is not context. This was the only thing i found on the last picture and i didnt realize it was the author until later.

Now i am sure you are thinking "clearly this is avant garde ironic humor that goes beyond our mere mortal comprehension" Actually, the creator himself says it's not a comic but a "test run" and didnt expect this to become a real comic so i dont know what it's supposed to be.

After that day, he proceeds to update the comic at random x times per week for almost 5 years now.

This honestly looks like an inside joke between a bunch of 12 year olds. Like, not as a sarcastic insult, but as in, I wonder if that's really what it IS.

One twitter reply was "oh but my name IRL is 'Rio' and that means River in Spanish." Hispanic cultural norms aside, there's no consistency with nature names and you have to live with it. Most americans find Willow to be a pretty name, but nobody names their kid Cedar or Chestnut. Actually, now that I think about it, those might be horse names. :story: Do you wear a saddle, Lake?

Pretty much. The sane response here would be for "Lake" to grow a backbone and say, "Well, that's my legal name, so that's what I'm listed under." It's not like there aren't people who got given weird hippie names by their parents and have to deal with other people assuming it's a nickname. The only difference is, those people change their names into something normal that they don't get quizzed or made fun of over, they don't change them to be weird and noticeable.

Alternatively, it isn't "Lake"'s real, legal name, in which case she should change documents already, or learn to deal with the fact that places won't automatically know the cool fantasy name that only exists in her own head. People aren't mind readers, they can only work with what's legally on the paperwork because they want to prevent trans rights fraud.

But instead of responding with "Actually, it is my real name," which would be the sensible thing to do, we get tears, drama and literal assault. I guess people being competant and able to actually back up their life decisions doesn't make as heart-wrenching a story. Or the kinds of people who do manage that don't spend their time making "trans life" webcomics.

Case in point, this person's twitter account is full of comics about having terrible anxiety and not being able to stand up for herself in any aspect of life. Which makes you wonder why she didn't just pick a normal name like Alex or Sam or something that people aren't going to respond to with "Huh? Where's that?" thus creating a mental breakdown and "I was almost killed by deadnaming today".
