Anyone ever have a bike stolen, or know anyone who has? If so did they get found in a rideable condition? My fucking R6 got stolen today, and I'm just wondering if any Kiwis have been through this particular bullshit.

My uncle has had it happen to him a few times. I hate it for you, but your odds aren't good. Did you have good insurance?

ETA: The reason (I think) that it has happened to him more than once is because he lives in Methville, Alabama. And he's too exceptional to lock his shit up properly.

Insurance? Hah, funny story. I just paid my whole years policy two weeks ago. Dropped the fucking theft coverage when I moved from a big city back to the sticks, figured I was at a lot less risk of theft, and surprise surprise... I should have known better, there are a shitload of junkies where I live.

I bet the insurance policy told the junkies where you hide your shit when they noticed you stopped paying for theft protection.

Feel ya buddy. 3 attempts on different bikes, one successful. Dude totaled it running a red light hours after pinching it.
Hope it was a nice high side and ripped most of his skin off at least. Worth replacing fenders on.

I'd say it depends on your area who steals and why. I'd check a local site and see if chop shops are a thing or joy riders or least common idiots who want one and keep it. Last being the best for recovery as in this day and age people are so dumb they steal a car/bike and just use it like theirs.

If it's a chop job, it's gonna get parted and people unaware are sadly gonna buy your muffler to replace their dead one etc. A joy rider? Check your PD for ticketed things or towed stuff.

Sorry my dude :(

I've had a few friends get bikes stolen, always lived in semi rural areas. 0% recovery rate.
