Car Thread - Alfa Romeo proves cars are art so shut up

So, it's been a bit but thank @Rat Speaker for talking me into giving /yota another try.

I have a toyota pick up now.
Lightly modded 1.5 inch front rear lift, new shocks all around (bilstein)
no cat as it's a 90 doesn't need one in my state, magnaflow muffler ghetto cia wiht k&N on the 22re motor
tuned on megasquirt
4spd auto with upped line pressure and trans cooler
walmart (litearlly) stereo stuff head unit and speakers

The only thing I plan to do is p&P the TB we had our first snow today so I'm leaving it alone but I'll be driving it till it dies/spring. It's got 457k miles on it now lmao. It's as ugly as you expect, I want to strip what's left of paint and chalk board it.

If I grow to love it, I will turbo it using the 22ret manifold and a 5-7 psi build off an 18g. Once it pops either moar bewst build or swap for a benz 5cyl diesel as the 4bt is gonna require rebuild the front all over again.

Our trucks should go on a lovely date :tomgirl:

So my truck was a huge faggot. And thought puking gasoline on it self was a good idea.

I just got new injectors with a higher rate (I'll spare you the boring details) tuned them down safely from megasquirt (tuning software) truck runs fine and maybe in my head better with more power but... now I got all this I literally FOUND a tiny ass intercooler air to air. So yeah soon run 5-7 psi on it and if it blows who cares?

My next plan is a total hooligan build I think a EVO 8/9 or WRX bugeye era and just anti lag 3" straight pipe just abuse and laugh not gonna pretend fast or anything just a beater toy that's bulit to drive.

The Fiat 124: a Mazda MX5 with a Fiat body, engine and gear box. Some would say this is faggotry in vehicular form: make up your own minds.

Oh boy, a car thread!
First, Jaguar E Type, the prettiest car ever made.

I also like fast 4-doors that aren't German. Dodge Coronet (has a424 Hemi. It also costs $660,000), Chevy Impala, and a Holden Commodore/Chevy SS for us burgers.

And, being a kid in the 90s, Vipers and Foxbody Mustangs make me hard, and bonus Taurus SHO for being a funky sleeper.

So the truck is "done" I can't grow to love it, or feel attachment for it. :(

I hope you don't hate me rat bro.

Mods of now,
e fan
7psi on megasquirt (18g on a 22reT mani that's been p&P)
bigger injectors
P&P tb
intake with v stack
2.5" turbo back no cat
bilsteins on all 4 corners
little radio stuff
tuned by me and trans
trans cooler
brembo blanks ebc pads
bottle opener drunkenly welded on rear bumper

think that's all as far as mods I can remember plus cleaned up a lot and upkeep stuff truck just hit 470k! I assume it's on the second or 3rd drive line tbh. Motor compression tested nearly perfect after I seafoamed it pre boost and less than 10% change on the 4 pistons.

It's just a dog and sloppy feeling. I dunno I think I might get a wagon, 964 is what I REALLY want as a next new daily but prices shot up and my jag just ate a big 4 figure bill so kinda poor now.

why are Teslas allowed on the street? i had one for a week, and the power just cut off after some time.
i was tring to overtake a beamer that wasnt going full speed and i couldnt get the stupid tesla above 200 km/h.
the car was also super load because of the fans spinning at max.
how can this be legal?
also the car is super slow and you have to look for a charger every hour.

I Have a 2011 Ford Fusion SEL... nothing special, but I'm saving up for something even better... any suggestions?

TESLA still has horrible QC issues but they are getting better, let's not even start about the cyber truck and what's going with that.

They are a solid platform and car, what do you want and what kinda price? Frankly for it's market I felt it to be one of the nicer chassis and I'm pretty picky on chassis feel.

I'm back to owning nothing practical just a over 600 WHP jag, triumph where thanks to me being an idiot now NO roof at all (ruined top) and the civic.

Really thinking a euro wagon or a mid size older euro car with a big motor like a e500 from late 90s.

Has anyone ever run LED lights? I'm kinda tempted to try them out, but want to read and hear more non shill reviews.

My top picks

Europe
1999 Volkswagon golf

Easy to drive, repair, and modify.

Australia
2006 Ford Falcon Ute

Nice V6 engine and it's a ute. I would go with the Holden with the vette engine but they're always driven to shit.

North America
2015 Dodge Challenger hellcat

More horsepower than anyone needs but it looks sexy.

That green SHO looks like one I bought in Maryland in 1994. Had the automatic transmission. Word was this tranny wasn't real robust and was prone to breaking. I just used it in a fairly reasonable fashion and changed out the fluid every 30-35,000 miles. No probs. Engine was amazing. Ran like a wet dream. In 1994 225 horsepower was still pretty good. Chicks liked it, too.

Here's a really neat Motor Trend article from fall 1967 comparing SIX 1968 muscle cars. As you read it, it's interesting to note what was discussed then as opposed to now. One big thing I noticed was that back in 1967 not all engines of cars powered air conditioning/automatic transmission/power steering and other accessories without affecting performance. These days, can't think of any engine doesn't take it in stride. Also was neat to see the extensive mention and discussion of carburetors back then. These days, very few, if any production cars use carbs. Know Chevrolet uses carbs in some of their crate motors.

Link/archive only due to length and lots of pics.

they all use electronic Carbs now.

well car tech improved alot in the between the 60s and the 2000s. now its mostly shit.
my 6l w12 has the same power as a 7l v8 Camaro from 69, but it need half the gas with double the weight.

Also consider that when they ran the horsepower test back then they had no accessories and water was either pumped in or gravity feed into the engine and they basically would blow the engine up to get those numbers.

My W12 does 5 hours at 150 mph without a problem(but you can only do that on the road to the east).

So after having my nice car written off a few months ago, I got this nugget to get me by for now. It's a 2004 Holden Commodore with a 3.8L Buick 3800 V6 driving the rear wheels through a 4L60-E. I've done... a lot to it. But it was cheap, tidy, and dual fuel so it can run on LPG (propane, basically) which is a fair amount cheaper.

Happy to share what I've done if anyone cares but it's... a lot. And not a single bit of it was done by a mechanic. I've learned to service and repair my own cars, to the point where I get asked to help others with theirs.

It'll get me out of trouble, but I would like to bring the write-off back from the brink, since it's not technically a write-off, it's just uneconomical to repair right now.

But yeah, I'll gladly talk about cars all day if you'll let me, hah.

I'm necro-ing the thread but fuck it

I assume this is a Bentley Continental you're on about? Or are you a man of culture and gone for a Phaeton?

Last time I checked, the Barra (as found in Ford Falcons from 2002 through 2016) was an inline six. Still a top pick tho. #BarraTheWorld
