You might be surprised.

It's really common for people to create bullshit charitable organizations, and a lot of them make things harder for legitimate charities; I've done enough volunteering to see it from both sides. The bullshittiest "charity" I ever volunteered for was run by one woman who had adults create "superhero" masks using cheap crafting supplies which she then sent to children's hospitals. The masks were in no way something kids would want unless they made them themselves, and most of the crafting supplies (glitter and feathers) made the masks dangerous to wear. She told us that the hospitals send her thank you notes back which I was internally laughing about, because what that means is whatever employee received the garbage had to dispose of it and thank this woman for the privilege. The woman was mixed race, so that bullshit charity couldn't be blamed on whitey.

I will say most bullshit charities are, in fact, started by white people, but I think that's more an ignorance, wealth, and ego problem than a race one. If POCs as a group had more money and spare time than they know what to do with and if more of them were as clueless about what poor people actually need, more of them would be pulling this kind of bullshit.

They're almost definitely used t-shirts, especially since the twatterer mentioned that the midwife does work in Africa. It's common for Americans to flood African countries with donated clothing which fucks over their local economies because local clothing makers can't compete with nearly free used clothes.

That said, the midwife could surely drop that shit off at Goodwill. Then, it'll wind up in Africa anyway.

I remember when a group I follow originally posted one of their articles, and people were taking it seriously and I couldn't tell if it was meant to be satire are not. Then I noticed their acronym is JEW and realized yeah that is definitely satire all right.

"Toxic masculinity" is another snarl word in the SJ lexicon. It doesn't have an official meaning that is written down in any official text. It's use is to load down the subject with negative affect. The actual definition is irrelevant, so much so that the connotation can shift in mid-argument to better suit the needs of the writer. Orwell noted this a long time ago:

Walking across Central America and being held in detention while being HIV positive don't result in great health outcomes? Whatever else will migrants prove next with their dumbass choices?

According to the report I found on Yahoo news, he was transferred to a hospital very soon after complaining of chest pains.

Almost all deaths of detainees I've heard about had similar stories. Migrant gets here in bad shape. ICE takes them to the hospital within a decent timeframe. The migrant dies. ICE is somehow responsible. How is releasing them immediately supposed to prevent this?

It was actually a decent choice on his part, tbh. If he stays he's fucked no matter what, if he makes it to the US there's at least a chance that a hospital can help him. The odds weren't in his favor, but it was probably his best move.
