Tech reporter Peter Bright has been arrested for soliciting sex with children online. He was employed by Ars Technica until recently.

A federal complaint alleges that Bright sought to molest a 7- and 9-year-old and met with an undercover agent for this purpose, at which point he was arrested. It also states that Bright claimed to be in a sexual relationship with an 11-year-old. He is currently being held without bail.

According to the complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, an undercover FBI special agent made contact with Bright on KinkD, a social media fetish platform, on April 18.

Bright, using the handle “randomanon,” had responded to a message the agent posted a day prior in which she purported to be a mother seeking to connect with people who could teach her children about “birds and the bees.”

The complaint states that in subsequent messages, the agent informed Bright that she had a 7-year-old daughter and 9-year-old son.

At Bright’s urging, the two then began chatting via WhatsApp, which continued for a few weeks. At times using euphemisms, Bright reportedly wrote of molesting both children and raping the 7-year-old. He also allegedly sent pictures of his penis, and photos of test results showing he did not have any sexually transmitted diseases.

It's specifically for extremely high risk cases where if the child isn't saved nearly immediately, they're very likely to end up dead. Trust a piece of shit monster like this to mock such a system.

As others pointed out Amber Alert is specifically for known abducted children. And always carries some form of vehicle description. It’s to get people on the highways watching for the car used in an abduction.

Amber Alerts aren't for kids, elderly dementia patients also get them. Amber Alerts do and have saved lives. And this is true. If a child is kidnapped by a non-family member you maybe have a 24 hour window before they're killed. I think anything after 24 hours, its basically a 50/50 if they're dead. Long term kidnap victims are relatively rare.

You have to understand, this is a costume. These are low-IQ, creepy fucking weirdos who can't talk to normal people.

Most often their real personalities are so repugnant that few could stand them. So they dress themselves up like 'good allies'. The costume is the same as all others because they want to blend it. Same for pedophiles who work with or near children or pretend to be caring about them. There's a reason people are suspicious of men around kids, because it's a common uniform for abusers to get close to their prey.

I was looking at this photo and wondering what the pills are. Firstly we have what looks like Oxycondone or another type of pain medication. The second I've never seen before. Possibly recreational, it's not Canadian Viagra, it's got the wrong shape and tone, and odd markings that aren't typical for pharma companies. Third looks like some sort of muscle relaxant or sleep aid. The rest are obviously Skittles or M&M's.

The other thing I noticed is that they seem arranged purposefully, and if you look in the reflection of the can they make up a half heart shape, roughly similar to the FBI's leaked list of pedophile symbolism, specifically to indicate you are interested in young girls.
