It's really insulting when these asshats talk about how starting HRT makes them want to eat chocolate, play with dolls, shop, etc. Like... none of that has anything to do with HRT and everything to do with their weird femme-psychosis. Slight PL, but I never liked dolls as a kid. I never liked dress-up. I never liked makeup or nail polish. You know what I did when I was a fucking eight-year-old girl? I fucking caught toads. I played Minesweeper on Windows 98. I built shit with Legos and Kinex. The biggest difference when it comes to childhood development between the sexes has little to do with the crap they played with and everything to do with how they were socialized. A little girl who played in the mud still experiences the social conditioning of a girl, and a little boy who plays with baby dolls is still going to have the psychology of a boy.

Boys have a natural propensity to be competitive, whereas women have a tendency to be collaborative. It's part nature, part nurture. Kids gravitate towards things that they're curious about (nature), and then continue when they receive positive social reinforcement (nurture). A desire to look after things is present in even the most tomboyish of girls- if it doesn't manifest as an interest in baby dolls, it manifests in a love for animals or the inclination to be the "protective" friend. This is also part of why women have a higher EQ on average. Competitiveness is a trait men possess, even if they're "beta" or feminine, or whatever. It's why men are more likely to be autistically obsessed with video games. It's why drag queens are competitive performers, and drag kings are usually just cosplayers and butches. It's why men tend to be more tribalist when it comes to sports and politics. It's all about winning, being the best, or being right.

This isn't to say women don't show competitive behaviors, or that men don't have collaborative behaviors. It's just that each sex is tilted a little bit in favor of one or the other. When people grow up with different internalized values and priority systems, that's going to affect them their whole lives, regardless of how much horse-piss they shoot up or how they mangle their genitals.

I think this is probably true and there are some interesting implications:

• Both ftms and mtfs give off vibes of having Peter Pan syndrome. It's not just the old troons longing to be supple 16-year-old girls. Both types dread puberty and growing up for obvious reasons, but I think there's more to it. Young mtfs fear aging out of being cute and sexy, because that's how they see their ideal female life. Ftms refer to themselves as boys rather than men and a lot go for a general cute teenage boy aesthetic
  • It's possibly because looking like a grown masculine man is pretty out of reach for the average woman while teenage boy is more accessible.
• A lot of ftms have issues with men in general. Pure speculation, but I think a lot of them get attached to young male fictional characters because they feel they might grow up into "one of the good ones."
