They are suffering what almost every early 2000s forum/imageboard has suffered. The teens are now faggot millennials in their 30s. The 20-somethings are approaching 40 and have lives. The Gen-Xers were fucking old and gay when the shithole opened, never mind what they've become. The replacements for the oldfags are of dubious quality. And ownership has changed, meaning the main force behind the site's original voice is gone.

4chan either adapts and develops a new voice that attracts funny/interesting people or it continues its merry way onto becoming the unwashed urinal of the internet.

The site's hotpockets are totally compromised, actively working in spite of a userbase who hates them, and the owner is too busy trying to learn basic website HTML and monetization to fix anything. Most of the people you're looking for have migrated to tiny 8ch boards, which more closely resemble what 4chan used to be.

My real question is this: when was it ever good? I mean, truly worth saying you were proud to browse there every now & then, regardless of what it was??

In a lot of ways /v/ was a lot worse. When I started using it, the front page was maybe a third actually video games related stuff (and even that was mostly console wars other than actual games), another third was straight /b/ stuff like "Knights vs Samurai" or toilet paper orientation, and the rest were porn dumps - and not even video game related porn (except Rouge porn of course). And you had extremely autistic tripfags shitting up the board so constantly that it made you wonder if they ever sleep. And of course, you had the anontalk spam.

That said, there was a magic to the place which I miss and the board could be a lot fun. I'd take it over current day /v/ any day.

I've came into contact with multiple retards IRL who are spouting that Nintendo has always had underpowered systems and they never went with expensive tech. Not only is this not true all these people proclaim the NES came out at around the same time as the neo geo as proof that the NES was underpowered.

The ZX Spectrum had worse specs than the NES and it crushed the NES in europe. The Whole reason why Europe never gave a shit about Nintendo even to this day was due to the ZX Spectrum and having consoles that were closer to old computers than the Nintendo and Sega consoles.
