One’s obviously more DIY than the other, but it’s not really what I’d call bad. I still don’t see how one is considered bad and the other good by a wide margin like you’re saying. The “good” one has a face so compressed to a horizontal form that it just looks wonky if you ask me. It’s eyes are where it’s cheeks should be.
That's what Kemono style is; wide-set large eyes with an obvious Japanese style. Its like you're taking two shots of two animes, one horrible and one decently-drawn, and saying they're both the same 'cause their eyes are 3/4 of their face.
No, it's not the size of the eyes, it's the placement. They're too low on the face. Placement, not size.
The eyes are huge, cutesy, and anything but trustworthy because of it. Also, the mouth being open slightly adds an extra derp factor that makes me chuckle.Speaking of, something about this thing's eyes concern the hell out of me and I'm not quite sure what it is that's doing it.

Do you think they're selling this one with all of the pins stuck in it? Also, for $270 you'd think you'd be getting something more polished and completed than that...
I somehow doubt it is the moving mouth feature that will be what is 'attracting the attentions of people around you'.
Considering the price and origin it’s surprisingly not bad, I will say that. Nothing special, but impressive given the circumstances. I’d just be worried about how long it will last with average (not notably good or bad) upkeep or care.
Every time someone makes a head with a tongue hanging out it always looks like it has down syndrome. So much so that I wouldn't even recommend doing it for a dog, let alone anything else like whatever this is (opossum? I'm not really sure).
