Holy shit, there are some good ones there!

9. In January 1970, Life reported, “Scientists have solid experimental and theoretical evidence to support…the following predictions: In a decade, urban dwellers will have to wear gas masks to survive air pollution…by 1985 air pollution will have reduced the amount of sunlight reaching earth by one half….”

Well, if they limited themselves to china and india they wouldn't have been too incredibly terribly wrong about the gas mask part. The sunlight being cut in half.... that's a hell of a claim.

10. Ecologist Kenneth Watt told Time that, “At the present rate of nitrogen buildup, it’s only a matter of time before light will be filtered out of the atmosphere and none of our land will be usable.”

Wait... nitrogen?

14. Ecologist Kenneth Watt declared, “By the year 2000, if present trends continue, we will be using up crude oil at such a rate…that there won’t be any more crude oil. You’ll drive up to the pump and say, `Fill ‘er up, buddy,’ and he’ll say, `I am very sorry, there isn’t any.'”

15. Harrison Brown, a scientist at the National Academy of Sciences, published a chart in Scientific American that looked at metal reserves and estimated the humanity would totally run out of copper shortly after 2000. Lead, zinc, tin, gold, and silver would be gone before 1990.

Hahaha, nothing terribly new here, we're running out of everything and will run out in 20-30 years. Hey, someone remind me, when are we scheduled to run out of oil and gold and silver? About 20-30 years? OK I'm sure they're right this time.

16. Sen. Gaylord Nelson wrote in Look that, “Dr. S. Dillon Ripley, secretary of the Smithsonian Institute, believes that in 25 years, somewhere between 75 and 80 percent of all the species of living animals will be extinct.”

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! OMG!!! So funny. Dr. Gaylord. Also his prediction is wildly off.

18. Kenneth Watt warned about a pending Ice Age in a speech. “The world has been chilling sharply for about twenty years,” he declared. “If present trends continue, the world will be about four degrees colder for the global mean temperature in 1990, but eleven degrees colder in the year 2000. This is about twice what it would take to put us into an ice age.”

Always a classic. Weird that we don't see that cooling trend in the graphs made by the global warming people, who show only warming during that period... Somehow scientists made opposite conclusions from the same data...

Anyway, here's today's modern, current scientists who surely wouldn't make such wild claims after being so wrong before:

Global sea levels are rising at an alarmingly fast rate — 6.7 inches in the last century alone and going higher. Surface temperatures are setting new heat records about each year. The ice sheets continue to decline, glaciers are in retreat globally, and our oceans are more acidic than ever. We could go on…which is a whole other problem.

The majority of scientists are in agreement that human contributions to the greenhouse effect are the root cause. Essentially, gases in the atmosphere – such as methane and CO2 – trap heat and block it from escaping our planet.

So what happens next? More droughts and heat waves, which can have devastating effects on the poorest countries and communities. Hurricanes will intensify and occur more frequently. Sea levels could rise up to four feet by 2100 – and that’s a conservative estimate among experts.

Ah ha, so they have learned. Make your predictions so far out in the future you'll be dead by the time people realize you were wrong... Also... how is "Up to 4 feet" a "conservative" estimate? If it's "Up to" then the conservative estimate would probably be not the very top end, right? That's like how some batteries last "up to" 10 times longer than the competitions. Because 1 times the length is on the way up to 10.

Notice how "Global Warming" quietly became "Climate Change" this last year?

I have no doubt that was because most of the dire 70's predictions about ecological collapse had 2020 as the "by the latest" date on them, and with less than a year to go for sea levels to rise 40 feet and the air to become literal floating chunks of steel wool and every river to run brown and boil, they had to, ahem "rebrand" it so that they could kick the disaster can down the line another 30 years..... "we didn't say it was getting WARMER, just that it was irreparably CHANGING for the WORSE!"

I just read that list and the only one that came true was "You won't be able to say "fill er up" at the pump in 2000" because if you did that today outside of New Jersey, the other people pumping their gas would just look at you funny.....

The good ol Human Klaxon himself, Paul Ehrlich, is responsible for about TEN of those.... there's a reason you stopped hearing from him in the 80's, being so spectacularly wrong about, well, everything he predicted from overpopulation to famine to running out of natural resources.....

I’m honestly curious to see if Hollywood will double down harder for 2020 than they did in 2016.

I can't wait for the Democratic Party Presidential Debate in two weeks. With 14+ candidates it'll be fun to watch them eat each other alive.
Can’t wait to see them channel their inner MovieBob and Dobson with Tumblr SJW autism.

The moderators are just going to throw softballs at them while probably secretly feeding questions to Biden prior to the debate so he can look smarter in front of everyone. Any squabbling they'll do will be on Twitter.

Hmm, anyone remember the show American Gladiators?

"Here's why this "assault" course is problematic and disrespectful to actual victims of real life gun vio...... *THWAP*

And another "D" front runner gets cold-cocked by a tennis ball to the head, you'd think they'd learn by now, moving targets are harder to hit.

I love the idea behind modern environmentalism.

Every morning I predict the world will end tomorrow so that the next day when it doesn't happen I can pat myself on the back for saving the world.

More truth to that than you know, environmentalists like to think they had something to do with lowering CO2 output when most of that was powerplants switching from coal to oil/natural gas that just burns cleaner..... their precious windmills and solar panels had nothing to do with it, but good luck getting them to admit to that, or the amount of pollution that rare earth mineral mining to make solar panels causes....

He won't be looking smarter than anyone. The moderators might go easy on him but the other candidates on stage will have their long knives ready. And I'm not talking about plastic. I'm not talking about stainless steel. They'll be busting out the good silverware. Like the kind for when company comes. These long knives will be sterling silver.

And know who else will be on Twitter? The God Emperor himself, Donald J. Trump, livetweeting this disaster.

Now would be a bad time for Jesus to come back. I don't about the rest of y'all, but I want to see these debates in the worst kind of way.

I'm honestly gonna have to work on my set up those nights. You just know someone is going to mispeak.

Also the new term is climate crisis. Y'all are behind. Now everytime there's inclement weather they ring the village bell about how it's yet another sign of the end. There were doing it during that spate of tornadoes.

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
