Why Todd Haberkorn?
Besides Pridemore, the only other person I see getting deposed in that case is possibly Adam Sheehan.
Never mind, I'm an idiot. I was confusing Adam Sheehan (who threw Todd under the boss with the Pridemore accusations) with this Jamie guy.

Not sure about BHBH but for Nick it sounded like they were trying to get Buzzfeed to wire Nick money by using a fake letterhead of Nicks firm.
Other way around. The person impersonating Nick told them that he ("Nick") wanted to pay Buzzfeed in exchange for them taking down some article that they'd published.
YT's transcription:
a BuzzFeed writer allegedly received a
communication from my office okay so it
was a communication from Rekieta Law
purportedly now it wasn't on my
letterhead and it just used my law logo
and purported to be me
it wasn't from my law firm's email
address so but this letter went to a
BuzzFeed freelance writer and demanded
that they take down some publication
that they had made and offered to pay
them eight thousand dollars to take down
the publication
The really weird part is that then Buzzfeed was just like "sure, we'll send you our banking info so you can wire us the money, ok?"

I don't know if they just wanted to see whether Nick was really serious, but them accepting the bribe would be highly unprofessional, just as it would've been if Nick was actually offering one...

I like to believe they were just seeing if he'd do it for the inevitable article they'd write laughing at him, but I can't rule out that Buzzfeed literally is slandering people online in order to get them to pay money under the table to have it removed. It seems like a logical next step for Gawker style journoactivism.

So the other side is resorting to criminal activity now. Interesting. They must be very confident in their case.

We don't know if it really is KickVic or Vordrak, but if it is KickVic than this isn't their first illegal action. The vandalism at CON-munnity Festival earlier this year, the same con that Nick Rekieta went to, set the bar on how low they were willing to take this.

And not just your run of the mill misdemeanor shit either. This figgy operation is massively illegal. As in 20 years in a federal pound me in the ass prison illegal. And that is just the mail and wire fraud. Impersonating a lawyer (an officer of the court) is another separate charge with huge penalties too. If the DA is having a bad day whoever did this could be staring at what is effectively life in prison. Even if they cut a deal they will most likely lose a decade of there life and have to pay of hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines.

They are going to get caught too. The crimes here are severe enough to gas up the party van, and I bet you whoever did it did little to cover up their scheme.

Texas Penal Code - PENAL § 38.122. Falsely Holding Oneself Out as a Lawyer

Texas Penal Code - PENAL § 38.123. Unauthorized Practice of Law

There's a caveat, though: "with intent to obtain an economic benefit for himself or herself".
There's a specific statute

Sec. 33.07. ONLINE IMPERSONATION. (a) A person commits an offense if the person, without obtaining the other person's consent and with the intent to harm, defraud, intimidate, or threaten any person, uses the name or persona of another person to:

(1) create a web page on a commercial social networking site or other Internet website; or

(2) post or send one or more messages on or through a commercial social networking site or other Internet website, other than on or through an electronic mail program or message board program.

(b) A person commits an offense if the person sends an electronic mail, instant message, text message, or similar communication that references a name, domain address, phone number, or other item of identifying information belonging to any person:

(1) without obtaining the other person's consent;

(2) with the intent to cause a recipient of the communication to reasonably believe that the other person authorized or transmitted the communication; and

(3) with the intent to harm or defraud any person.

(c) An offense under Subsection (a) is a felony of the third degree. An offense under Subsection (b) is a Class A misdemeanor,

So the timing of this letter shit coincides with that nasty ass professional contrarian's tweet. Idiot also brags about being tech savvy.

Hmm not sure if they are talking about the Email thing or that Cohen Lawyers "Nick did a crime" thing. Later on in the chain it they mentioned that Nick would be in round 2 so its hard to tell.

The idiots even went so far as to demand money. Oh my God! What were they thinking? They claimed to be nick rekieta and demanded money in an email. That is three felonies in one gay op!

They said they were nick rekieta: Claiming you are someone you are not in furtherance of an illegal scheme over email, is wire fraud. Felony!

They did it using official law firm letter head that is impersonating a lawyer. Felony!

The email made a specific demand for money in a quid pro quo. That is extortion. Felony!

Just...:stress:

Oh. Oh my. What if that Professional Contrarian's big "oh Nick's gonna regret it now" thing is... a hit piece claiming he was trying to extort money from Buzzfeed?

I.e., KV would be openly bragging about the damage to Nick's reputation their Figgy Ops were causing?

Given the hint that Nick provided that the perp already has a thread on the Farms, @AnOminous believes our perp might be this lolcow:
Oh please no, don't be Vordrak.
SAM! You will never be a solicitor because you are a fucking weirdo and all around lying faggot and no solicitors firm will ever take you on for a training contract. Just stay in your little council house and rot.

Nah, if it were real it would have been Nick trying to bribe Buzzfeed. It was supposed to be him offering money to have an article taken down.

This is what happens when idiots believe their own propaganda. For months, BHBH were really the only lawyers on the scene, so even KV felt a little intimidated by them. Feeling intimidated pissed them off, but they didn't dare do anything so that anger just had to keep simmering. Then Douchette shows up and starts treating BHBH as if they're incompetent, powerless idiots. Ty spouting off on Nick's stream probably helped cement the idea that he was a bumbling fool. Suddenly, there's no reason not to go on the offense against the New Evil, and all that pent up rage overcame any shred of self-preservation and here we are.

I rather think some fools are going to learn about reality the hard way.

As far as who the emails were sent to... KV has been desperately trying to get the MSM involved in covering the case. The fraudulent email sent in Nick's name was to a media company, I'd be willing to bet that some of the other companies that Armzgurl has flagged got emails from the fake BHBH account, in addition to any YouTuber targets.

It wouldnt, paying off the media is the bread and butter business for some lawyers. It would only look bad for Buzzfeed.

Jesus christ. Do you have to retroactively ask for consent for every pass you've made at any woman during your lifetime these days?

Crap like this makes me glad that I am divorced and have sworn off woman forever.

The argument would be that Vic made a pass on an underaged girl, but the issue is that at the time, the age of consent in Virginia was about however old McConnell was at the time, so even if the incident is true, Vic didn't do anything actionable. You could argue that it's gross that he made a pass on a high schooler as someone who was almost 30, sure, but I think a more reasonable thing to do is to talk about how absolutely stupid age of consent laws are in the States that we can actually change this statute in a state and a) have something that was legal prior to the change be illegal soon afterwards for reasons almost as arbitrary as the rationale for the previous stature and b) have this kind of statute not be consistent across the States.
