Community Munchausen's by Internet (Malingerers, Munchies, Spoonies, etc) - Feigning Illnesses for Attention

one final post from me today (sorry for spam) - catalogue of @beyond.bendy 's girlfriend, @amelioratingmylife. Amelia is an Australian woman in her early 20s (can't find a cap with her exact age) who primarily claims FND, anxiety, as well as other conditions.
Are you aware you do not need to full size embed every single god damn image dude? That post has so much shit as such a high resolution that it's throwing errors when people load this page because it's basically indistinguishable from a denial of service attack.

Phone posters are just the worst man

Actually, I’m uploading off a computer. Haven’t been adjusting the size it defaults to, but I can if that’s such an issue for people

If anyone has the time, @heckinspoonie on IG is another sensitive soul with a lot of questionable shit. 20 year old who has suddenly dropped out of uni, become “crippled”, can’t take any medication and is basically invalidated by every doctor she sees. Constantly clears her social media which makes it a pain in the ass to follow

Saw someone post about intercranial hypertension upthread, but can’t find it now. Wanted to add that IIRC there are studies out there about how inter-cranial hypertension can cause/worsen mental illness and behavioral issues, (exacerbate BPD, munchie tendencies) especially when the patient was born premature. Will edit to add study link if I can find it.

I watched the movie five feet apart on a plane yesterday, and it was a basic teen love movie. Two teens have CF and can't touch each other. I wonder if we see a big influx of Munch by internet of young women pretending to have CF.

That reminds me of a podcast I listened to where a women tricked two sisters into thinking she also had CF: http://lungstoryshort.com/podcasts/2018/2/20/episode-9-english-tea-with-a-side-of-catfish

It will cause an influx of young munchies and sickly princesses just like that gay 13 Reasons Why shit caused an uptick of "suicidal" teens and teens that actually went through with it because muh big sadness.

Hey, that was me who posted that. Yes, that is absolutely the case mental illness wise. I have never heard of the premature bit, that is interesting and will have to look into it. This story is anecdotal but I know someone with IIH whose mental illnesses got worse due to it coming out of remission. Someone with uncontrolled IIH is already experiencing increased pressure in the brain, add brain inflammation to that (they have lupus and a vit D deficiency - both cause inflammation), and it got worse. They have bipolar II and anxiety. They started to have suicidal thoughts and thought they were being recorded by things with a microphone in their house and ended up in a mental hospital. It can be serious when not well managed and/or other medical conditions are present.

Wait, can't take any medication? That makes no sense.

Edit: Sorry, I shouldn't have done two comments. I accidentally skipped over this one my first read.

As mentioned earlier, @heckinspoonie is a 20 year old woman from the UK with unidentified chronic illnesses and mental health conditions. Her illness accounts were initially based around her experiences with an ED (which seem pretty genuine) butt have since become more OTT, with her removing/privating her initial ED posts.

Can anyone shed any light on the IVIG craze? Specifically in that they say it is incredibly dangerous and that these individuals claim to be so brave and are suffering so much through 12 hr or 3 day treatments? Honestly people I know with cancer have complained less about chemo so just trying to see if my experience is correct.

Does anyone know why they write descriptions of the pictures?
mage description- a photo of me stood in my back garden, holding up a personalized blanket from the charity Hug In A Blanket whilst my assistance dog is stood between my legs

They do it for the visually impaired but it's pointless the way they do it. There's no discription of anything...

Image descriptions are meant to improve accessibility (which gets them huuuuge brownie points in the community) since they could be read out via accessibility software for vision impaired people. However, image descriptions are meant to be super literal, not with all the extra bullshit you can’t really see

Totally over her anorexia! Her periods have stopped, but that’s gotta be some complex hormonal issue right? Not calorie restriction, no sir.

What’s with the not able to take medication? I saw that shorthand for ‘because nobody will give me anything because there’s bugger all actually wrong with me.’ ?

She’s another anorexic in denial

TENS is placebo. So don’t you worry about the ‘long term effects.’ http://archive.is/bdp0s

The medication thing seems to be a combo of a fear that she’ll abuse the prescriptions, combined with a general “they don’t have a proper diagnosis so I shouldn’t take anything”.

Another self trained service dog 🙄 . That dog probably weighs 25kgs (55lbs) as a conservative guess, fit and healthy women struggle to lift that much and she's posting it alongside claims of being disabled. Her 'cripple kit' photo is just toiletries, there's nothing special about any of those products lol and posting a video of her drinking just seems irresponsible to me, I know she's not on any medications so it's not dangerous like it would be for someone who is chronically ill and on medication but not really the place for it.

Her periods have stopped but she bought sanitary towels? Is she lying about it or just being optimistic? Long term effects of a TENS machine made me lol, I do however think they can be useful for pain management. (Powerlevel but relevant, I had a rotator cuff tear and used to use one on my shoulder for pain relief while on the waiting list for surgery. I found it helped).

When I post screenshots from my phone they aren't fucking massive. Is it just certain phones that do this?

If you don't have an adverse reaction (IVIg can actually cause some serious shit like aseptic meningitis) then it just makes you feel like crap for a few days. It's nowhere near the same level as chemo.

IVIg is an experimental treatment for POTS but many insurance companies specifically exclude it from their coverage. Probably due to munching.
