I could believe it. The letter is polite, affectionate, and assures the daughter (assuming it's a daughter?) that they love her and the grandkids. The concerns they raise are reasonable to anyone who isn't polyamorous--stop humiliating us on Facebook by making our friends think we raised degenerates, stop wasting our money on your fuckbuddies, and stop trying to groom your kids into thinking your lifestyle is normal. If it was fake, you'd think the forger would write the note to make the parents look much worse. As it stands, you'd have to be extremely self-absorbed to think that letter is an instance of "hate and prejudice".

Also, the letter-writer can spell. The Facebook poster types like a twelve-year-old.

That's the same thing, isn't it? Small children are functionally psychopaths, they have literally no empathy. Their brains are still maturing though, polygamists have no excuse for their blatant disregard of others' feelings.

Polyamory--with that specific name, and using words like 'polyfidelity'--has generally been associated with upper middle class, overeducated, coastal weirdos. Clearly this woman is not that. I wonder if as polyamory 'trickles down' to the lower classes, if the smug intellectual IT-and-graduate-degree crowd will start doing something else? Maybe they'll start going to church.

Around here it has been a thing for the down-at-heel suburbs for a while. Very much something done by dumb retail employees in their 20s. It definitely tends to fuck them over a lot harder than it did the smug IT crowd, but they never learn.
